You are absolutely right. In fact, I am only here because I have just recently re-watched it for the third time. I watched it when it originally aired, but I was just a teenager back then and I didn't get a lot of the nuance, nor did I realise it was loosely based off of real events. In our day and age, the points the show made about corruption, political cover-ups, police abuses, human depravity and gang violence seem all too poignant and relevant still.
@HoriaNeagu It was special and was perfect for the time. Today it would be so watered down, making it dishonest like every other show or movie being done now.
I like how at 03:39 they're trying to give the Golden Globe to Michael Chiklis but he refuses it multiple times and tells them multiple times to give it to Shawn Ryan. Pure class.
If you go back and watch the episodes - one of the great things about the show is that it does not use music or sound effects to heighten the suspense or tension of the scenes. It is pure raw acting and the display of gritty Los Angeles purely as it is - and not like how Hollywood wants it to be.
Not sure if you watched the show, there was plenty of music that heighten the suspense or tension of the scenes. It's one of the reason I loved that show, especially during the Armadillo scenes/adjacent scenes in season 2 because they play alot of rock in Spanish which I particularly like.
The very fist episode LITERALLY played a Kid Rock song to hype up the Strike Team take down of Two Time and murder of Terry Crowley. Many other scenes have music playing but it's usually faded in the back ground as if the characters are listening to it.
When we see the quality of the series that faced The Shield, we say to ourselves that yes, this show was great and you just have to immerse yourself in the life of the strike team to finish convincing yourself. 😊❤💥💪
I assume Vic did his 3 years with ICE and went solo as a private detective, depressed but still looking for his family. Ronnie likely got a deal, all his crimes were based on vic's word over his, no evidence. Hopefully claudette managed to hang around for some years before succumbing to lupus. Dutch stayed a detective, not running the Barn. Aceveda sucked his way to the governors chair. Julian, Dani and Tina who cares tbh. I know you only asked about vic I just let my mind wander.
I'm shocked that the Shield won ss a new entry. These shows were all heavy hitters in thier own right. This had to be one of the most stacked Golden Globes categories of all time.
Bad clip for The Shield but it makes no difference... greatest (and most consistent) show of all time. Even more than the Sopranos, which comes a close second.

@@daenja84 It's basically the perfect TV show. It was a great pilot episode and continued greatness all th way until the finale.
After the Shield all other series feel so light! So simple!
The shield is one of those shows you can rewatch again and again, great script and great actors

Absolutely, I’ve watched it three times.
On my third time as well, once in the 2000's, once in the 2010's and now in the 2020's.

Shawn gave shade to Michael from the start from his body language. When he got on stage he stopped on purpose
Just noticed that ! Such class from Michael Chiklis ! 👏🏻
the shield, the sopranos and six feet under in the same category.....best golden globe's year by far

The Sopranos S4 deserved the award, for me
They could have picked a better scene for The Shield.
