Nicely done. You chose great yarns to illustrate the technique, and had the camera nice and close so we could see perfectly. Try it with casting on two stitches instead of one. Then, instead of the white showing at the top, there's another chain along the top edge.
Try this method with adding 2 stitches instead of 1. Then you slide 3 onto the left needle each time. It will solve the problem of the outer edge. Your method leave a lovely chain on the inside and on the outside, but nothing on the edge (where you see the grey showing through). I think if you add the one more stitch, this bind-off will wrap the edge nicely.
