Government to build new prison in bid to decongest Luzira

The Uganda Prison Services is planning to construct a MiniMax prison facility in Kitalya in Wakiso district to decongest Luzira maximum security prison. The commissioner of prisons Johnson Byabashaija told NTV that the facility will accommodate more than 1,000 inmates if they receive the 25 billion shillings they have budgeted for in the next financial year.
