I hope you enjoyed this quick tour of the Scripture Memory Fellowship offices here in Dallas, TX! There are links to all the resources in the description and when you're done, you can go watch the full interview with Dakota here: ruclips.net/video/KkFwrB7rMoQ/видео.html

This was a great tour of the SMF warehouse. It's a humble space, but they've been working hard to encourage folks to memorize scripture for a very long time. Thanks for shining a light on this ministry.

Thanks, Chad. As a small non-profit, I think the humble space is fitting and I didn't even get to show you the new media space where they're planning to do more audio/video production. Really cool! I look forward to continuing to support and cooperate with SMF in the coming years.

Great to see the inside of the office in person Josh - good idea! Good on you shining a spotlight on the work others are also doing in the scripture memory space :)

    Love the RUclipss
I tried to send you an email but it came back not able to deliver, so I will paste it all here.
    Hi Josh,
I enjoy your RUclipss! I feel an extra connection as I lived in the Philippines for 10 years as a missionary and know people who years ago worked in Thailand. I just happened to see the following RUclips tonight. I thought you would enjoy it, about the memory palace being thousands of years old. Maybe you have seen this but wanted to share it. The other ones are people with other ideas on memory. Nice to know lots of ideas as we are all different. I enjoy your interviews for both ideas and to know I am not alone in trying to memorize.
I have started to write the verses by hand, then underline with various colors that I have assigned meanings (actions, contrast words, God, place makers, time markers etc.) Then I write the first letter of each word and make two little symbols to help remember the verse. (Gift= a little package, blue triangle= God etc.) (You might guess I have an art background, so color and little pictures are meaningful to me.) I also use the man's idea that only puts 8 or less words per line. I also have a NASV N.T. (out of print, Discovery Bible) that shows what words were emphasized in the Greek language and I highlight them for knowing how to emphasis them when I read out loud. I also know a little ASL (deaf sign language) and use just the key word or words in each phrase to put another tool in my memory box.
Keep up the good work. Links below of some other people I have found online. Maybe some future interviews for you. 😀

I'm so sorry you weren't able to send the email, but I'm glad you were able to share this here as a comment. I really like how you've explained your method, Sue, and how it engages so many different senses!

In the 90s, I saw Elisabeth Elliott at a Woman's conference and she was emphasizing the importance of teaching the young Scripture and hymns that have good doctrine. She said the memory of the young are like "sponges". Her example being her daughter, Valerie, from when they lived with the Waodani people and as a child wanting to communicate, she adapted and was speaking the Waodani language, Spanish and English.

It's so true! They are sponges. Thanks for sharing, Deb!
