    i remember this time last year thinking that gm was unobtainable for me
    i just got my first infernal cape this week and even before completing it i realised i was easily good enough to do anything in game with practice

      That’s how corrupted gauntlet was to me. I made an Ironman after never bossing before. I was worried I’d never make it out of the red prison. I conquered it and moved on though. Now I have a shadow and much more in 2 years progress

    The information being available is one thing.
    The teamplay requirements and boosting make it gatekept, you either know people or you can pay.
    For the people where its too easy, lppk at the play time, the hours you guys play. If you did anything if life that was very hard and put the hours in the gms do, you would be able to achieve it.
    Also there are speed questions because its an independant task, you cant rely on someone else to pick up the slack for you.
    Also put these times into real life perspectives, a 5k run for example. 20 minutes is just not something a lot of people would be able to achieve, sub 20 is the goal for lots. People that run regularly might not get to it. I have a friend thats an ultra marathon runner and he cant get there.
    20 minutes is the gm time in this example.
    Look at the world record for a 5k run. Why is there such a gap?
    There are a lot of capable runners who put the hours into the right training and run a 16-20 minute 5k in a park run. These are your gms.
    The reason they have it is not because its too easy or not challenging enoufh but because they put the time into the right things.
    Hours or days played on this game doesnt really count if you dont have any time spent on those activities.
    Sorry one last one, look at the time invested, the years invested into getting the inferno time to whrre it is now. Should it have been 45 minutes from the startcand been an unachievable goal on a gamem or should it be around wjere it is witg the intention of it being achievable so that people want to play, want to do the content. The tasks arent meant to be a bottomless put of challanges. Once tjey have been achieved there are other things in the game to complete (yes less fun to someone who only wants challenging pvm)

    oh and other markers on things as well

    As someone who just started osrs a couple years ago, and is just trying to achieve Master CA’s, the most difficult part for me is grinding gp for the gear required. My bank is about 800m with no megarares, so a large majority of speed runs seem out of scope, unless I get some insane rng.. I think many of the grandmaster CA’s seem impossible (like melee inferno, I only have 1kc), but hopefully I won’t have the same mindset a year or two from now.

      great perspective bro, huge gz on inferno kc and i think youll snowball to getting a lot better gear

    I think what combat achievements excel at is forcing players out of their comfort zones. Some players only enjoy tob, or only enjoy cox, toa, inferno, ect. The cas force anyone going for them to get a pretty good understanding of all pvm content, which will likely result in them finding more content that they enjoy doing regularly :)

    As someone whose also going for gms atm (25 tasks away) i think overall CAs are in a decent place. I dont consider myself very good at the game. I havent done the zuk ones yet and have a few more tob gm cas to go (dont feel like finding teams rn) but there are def a few speed run cas that are quite rng and gear heavy. The new dt2 ones come to mind. Not very iron friendly but also things shouldnt be balanced around irons.

    Things become more achievable as you just try more things and play the game...when CA's came out I assumed elite would be the absolute highest I could possibly go. Even just 4-5 months ago master seemed pretty far out of reach. But once I committed to the grind it wasn't anywhere near as hard as I thought it was and I got it within a couple weeks of trying

    For me, for sure the hardest part is find teams, and my ping and below average connection to the game, bc i'm from brazil so i can easily dc at any time... atm i'm 11 tasks from gm, lets see if i can get before colosseum

    I think CA are in a good spot. Anything in this game to someone with +3k hours in pvm is easy for sure as it should but should we design tasks based on very few who are willing to spend that much time pvming? I don't think we should, inferno was difficult to everyone when it was released, gauntlet was difficult etc. everything becomes easy once you have enough reps on it, isn't knowing game mechanics in and out what grandmaster is supposed to be? I also get that some gms feel their position threatened as elitist when theres more zuk helms walking around but at the same time its medieval point and click game.

    • @indarkment01
      @indarkment01  6 месяцев назад

      i think gm cas are in a good spot as well, and that we want gm to be accomplished by a good handful of players, so i agree with you...and elitists should care of a lot of people have gms

    I feel like people unfairly malign team based tasks, its an mmo, teamwork has an annoyingly unrealised level of potential in content in this game and its a good skill to learn, they are also the most fun i've had in runescape. I get that people arent always social or you can get stuck if your friends don't have the same drive towards gm's though. I think the worst aspects of team tasks is unfun ones, I don't know many that enjoy toa in groups, perfect tob actually gives me anxiety, nightmare is a chore of a boss, i've never met someone who didnt love going for cms or tob gm times or the goofy ca's like morytania only

    • @indarkment01
      @indarkment01  6 месяцев назад +1

      i have to agree with you slab, i think people lose sight of the fun part of cas and just wanna get it done, so it becomes a "chore" if you don't have an ideal team
      but yeah team cas are really enjoyable to me as well, thanks for sharing your thoughts

    "Skill" in this game is largely knowledge-based. Very few bosses in the game actually require a lot of mechanical skill. The awakened bosses are probably the only bosses that were specifically designed to require a lot of tick perfect clicks and high APM. Even one of the "hardest" challenges like Zuk is extremely reclined in comparison to the easiest awakened boss (Whisperer). The difficulty comes from nerves, lack of knowledge, and the fact that you have to spend 2+ hours just to get there.
    That said, while the skill floors of TOB, Inferno, and COX are actually not that high, the skill ceiling is massive in comparison to almost everything else in the game. Those require knowledge, mechanical skill, and experience. That is the most truly difficult content in the game.

    Here’s an alternate perspective. Personally extremely close to the GM 20 tasks off. I think there the worst update we’ve had and they’ve got 0 longevity. They was polled to be purely cosmetic or very little rewards. The rewards got buffed and I think they will again in the future. That’s not where the problem lie though. Give it another 5 years and the task list is going to be gigantic. 1k+. There is already more combat achievements then regular achievements diaries. The time to complete each tier is going to get longer and longer. This is extremely discouraging to new players when good rewards are locked behind it. I know the rewards are mediocre at the minute with some being better than others. But as the task list grows there will be a call for a bigger buff to rewards. In an ever evolving game these are a terrible idea. Look even further to 10 years. The game will still be around in 10 years. 10 years of new bosses new raids etc. the list will be insane for new players. Just my 2 cents. Same shit happened with the comp cape in rs3 the list got so big just after 8 years in 2019 they had to nerf the cape from a BIS to basically a cosmetic. It just doesn’t work long term in MMO’s.

      If I was to suggest an alternate angle you could have the combat diary for each boss but the reward be a cosmetic to each boss or a boost on pet rate etc. much more fitting off this type of game. You want to complete a boss to get the best rewards from that boss or a cool cosmetic. Wouldn’t matter how much content is in the game at that point.
