Imagine that, another Nichibutsu game on Hamster's Arcade Archives... and it took six years after a previous video! The 1986 release Youma Ninpou Chou: Ninja Emaki is an overhead action game similar to Capcom's Wolf of the Battlefield, SNK's Ikari and Taito's Kiki KaiKai (also 1986) except with ninjas and demons in feudal Japan. Unlike the former two, Youma Ninpou Chou falls into the latter as it used a standard 8-way joystick and two button setup. You're armed with a standard crossbow, and there's magic scrolls that periodically appear in stages, giving you access to 8 different spells. What made it stood out from said games is its manic pace and structure. There aren't really stages so much as there are areas, as there's never really an end goal like you'd expect in most games. The action never stops one bit as you traverse up the screen, going from from one situation to another. Youma Ninpou Chou is now in good company with fellow Nichibutsu games on Hamster's Arcade Archives for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch (July 4, 2024 worldwide + Asia). Hey kids, listen up. In the Arcade Archiver live stream for Konami's 1986 top-down shooter game, Jackal, the images of Tinkle Pit were mistakenly showcased in the first minute of recording, and has been corrected since then. This week's Arcade Archives release, however, takes us by storm as Hamster CEO Satoshi Hamada pulls yet another card out of the box with more Namco NA-1 running arcade games, and Tinkle Pit is no exception. Now, in case you've probably already been wondering, "when hitting the West, would this be renamed "Twinkle Pit"?" Hell no, absolutely not. Anyway, originally released way back in 1993, the story goes that Tinkle Pit features various cameos from classic Namco characters, from games like Pac-Man, Mappy, and Dig Dug among others. Players take control of Pit and Patti - two inhabitants of Tinkle Land - as they embark on a quest to save their home world from an evil spell. In order to do this, they must leave a ball on the screen and lay down a line between themselves and the object before later releasing the ball to eliminate any enemies that wander into its path.
Once they kill all the enemies, they'll advance to the next stage. There are 47 stages in total, which are spread across 8 different worlds. The first world consists of four stages, while the remaining worlds consist of six.
While players explore each level, it's well worth noting that they can also pick up a bunch of different power-ups, which will help them clear the enemies on screen a lot faster. These include a couple of speed boosts, a stun attack, and a Pac-Man power-up that turns the protagonist into Pac-Man and the enemies into edible ghosts, just to name a few.
Now, as far as I know, this Arcade Archive release will mark the first time it has ever appeared on home consoles from Sony and Nintendo (the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, respectively) as it has previously been absent from the Namco Museum or the Japanese-only Wii Virtual Console releases. It will also be the first time it has officially been made available in the West, or will it just remain exclusive in Japan? Stay tuned as we find out tomorrow on Arcade Archives.

Players can change various game settings such as game difficulty, and also reproduce the atmosphere of arcade display settings at that time. Players can also compete against each other from all over the world with their high scores.
