@@danielsiminski5878 Agreed. I think the W124 - ESPECIALLY the coupe and the Cabriolet - amongst the most simply elegant designs MB produced - certainly on an "ordinary" road-going car. Saco Rules! OK! :-).
i had a 1987 - it was fast and fun - cracked dash, lots of wobble in the rear - when acclerating and turning simulaneously - had somebody fix that - sold it 15 years ago - saw it on CL again for sale a year ago - its still kicking probably with 300k
They did in 1998 and 1999. But from 1995 through 1997 it was a non turbo. Previous to that it was the om602 5 cylinder turbo. So Mercedes just added a cylinder and removed the turbo and you basically get the same performance.
I've got 4 W124's, none has the slightest droop in the headlining. Not seen that as a problem on the W124's. Have seen the leather around the map pockets lifting, and the same thing where the door cladding folds in to the window. The grommet on aerial does "go"...usually, if it is ok, it has been replaced.
That's pretty strange you've never seen a drooping headliner it is a common manufacturing problem on the 124. They used a foam backing and glued it to the ceiling and the foam deteriorates over time.. very very common issue. Consider yourself lucky.
I’ve got 2 124 both 95’ E320’s a wagon and the sedan. The Headliner has started drooping as soon as we moved to florida within the year after the first 26 years of living in New York and Minnesota. So I think it’s due to the heat that extreme heat melts the glue and it then droops. The grommet around the antenna also fell apart within 2 years also of living in the south and it’s always covered with a cover outside.
I think the best thing to do is Putting a very high quality U.V Deflection Window tinting to include the windshield. This lets the air conditioner work easier and you’ll actually feel the cool air much better. And deflects the suns rays off the rear parcel shelf and the dash to prevent it cracking. I can’t believe the difference when I added it this year to my 2 124’s. I will get it on my garaged R129 next for sure! 👍🏼
@@woodsandbarclay yip. I am very lucky, I guess. As one of the other comments said, it is most likely a heat-related problem. Go to Florida, your rooflining drops!! :-) Another reason to avoid Florida!! (Apologies...I am in South Africa!) :-)
The cruise control module on the shelf is specifically for a 1995 Mercedes E300. I own a classic diesel Mercedes restoration shop and do this for a living every single day of my life. I am very familiar with cruise control modules.
Sweet, just looked a bit like a random unit off your shelf in the vid, that's why I sent a reminder. No hard feelings, I work on classic mercs for a living too, both petrol/diesel - daily drive an OM601.....
500E is a high performance V8 gas car. Unreliable and requires incredible amounts of maintenance. My shop specializes in diesel only. Classic diesel Mercedes are extremely reliable and very low maintenance. Yes the 1995 E300 is very special. It is a one year only vehicle with the om606 non-turbo engine. One of the best diesel engines produced by Mercedes.
Maybe sold one year in the states, but for the rest of the world the infamous OM606 was sold between 1993 and 1996 in both sedan (until 1995) and wagon versions. The sedan in 23166 units and the wagon in 9071 units - even less then the 10479 of the 500E/E500:s made between 1991 and 1995.
ABSOLUTELY A BEAUTIFUL CAR! Love Mercedes from the 90's!
Yeah they're great vehicles!
This is actually a late 70's concept, designed and came out mid 80's
@@woodsandbarclay I love the simple elegance!

Amazing!
Interesting that Mercedes did not put a turbo on the OM606 engine. Do you know why? Would have been nice at first thought.

They did put on a turbo...MUCH less durable than the non-turbo variant. Get a non-turbo variant if you can.

Yes, the cruise control modules often kaput...but less so than on the W123's - sooo often the W123 tempomat is kaput - if it was fitted, of course.
Yep

There are several different cruise modules, you can´t just take one from the shelf and think it would work for your diesel, dude!
