Have you ever felt like you can't catch a break? That's kinda what we're starting to feel like with our fifth wheel, but we keep plugging along. We finally got Tandy weighed (Chris loves CAT scales), we face fierce winds in Williams, AZ, and we find out that our slideout toppers are causing damage. What a week!

Chris, you’re number one in a number two world, or at least that’s what Shelley says to me when we go RVing 🤣😉. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels.

Craig, I don’t know how to take that. 😂😂 It’s a crappy job but someone has to do it. 😉

We have a Tandara 285RL and we had toppers installed also. We had the brackets installed in the right place but it looked like ours in your video. The topper is too long and those pins are barely in those bottom brackets. We had a mobile tech come out for different issue and we showed him our slide toppers and told him that when it rains they filled up with water. He was shocked on how they were installed and said they did not have enough slant or pitch to them. But the major problem was they were too long and said he was surprised they didn’t fall out going down the road. He told us when we were done camping to come to their shop (about 20 miles away ) and he would fix them for free because he never saw a topper install that bad. Good luck, get them addressed soon.

Yes, ours are at the wrong pitch as well. The length is ridiculous on our bunkhouse. Some places only want your money and care little for the quality of their work. The center that did ours is so far paying for repairs. Good luck with yours. Hopefully he’s able to get you fixed up and set up for next season! -Chris & Suzannah

We are thinking about installing our own side toppers. In our short time with our Tandara the living room slide out holds a lot of water. So slide toppers on on our list for upgrades. Thanks for sharing your experience

Make sure you put the proper pitch on them or they will pool water. The living room slide will be tough because of the awning.
      Good luck!!

I was within limits too but I was pretty surprised of the tongue weight of my fifth wheel

How much of an increase did you have from dry to loaded on the tongue weight?

@@HintonTheTrail If I remember correctly it was almost at my max of 2300 lbs... and that's with the Anderson Hitch... oh and my fifth wheel is "half ton towable"... I mean I have my 3500 mounted in storage and a pancake air compressor in there but that's like 150 lbs...It was way more than I thought. Then you see guys with 3/4 ton's pulling 40' tripple axles like "She's way under my payload..." lol

I love “half to towable”. Makes me laugh a little. Is it really? Sure, but you can’t put anything in it, your suspension is gonna hurt, fuel mileage will suck, and you will struggle to go up any grade…not to mention to slow down them.

Sorry, we’re kinda strange with our truck (Mando) and our fifth wheel (Tandy). We’ve always named vehicles but we may need to be a bit more generic for some folks to know what we’re talking about. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. -Chris & Suzannah
