  • Save Rose plant from Die Black Disease. Today’s video is on the commonest rose plant diseases and remedies which is the black spot rose disease. They are actually a rose fungus disease typically caused from moist and cooler weather. Blackspot disease is one of the most common diseases of rose bushes; and, if left untreated, it can cause damage to your rose plants. The causative organism is the fungus Diplocarpon rosae.
Black spot rose disease is featured by black spots or brown spots on the upper side of leaves. This Fungus spreads quickly and can move from plant to plant if intervention is not done quickly. So, these are the 5 important steps to control black spot rose disease.
Please Watch Video for Step by step treatment.
Now before moving on to the actual remedy for black spot rose disease, we will get to know the distribution and pattern of this black spot or brown spot rose disease:
    • They are Circular black spots or brown spots on the leaves.
    • The lower leaves tend to be infected first, and then it spreads quickly to the whole plant.
    • Then it causes leaf yellowing and the yellow leaves fall off.
    • Then eventually the plant becomes weaker and it either blooms less or stops blooming.
Many recommend spraying with broad spectrum chemical fungicides like imidacloprid, mancozeb which is a component of SAAF powder and other like trifloxystrobin, Ziram, chlorothalonil and many others. Even Copper and Sulfur fungicides work great for black spot rose disease treatment. I think you can reserve this if your conventional organic treatment fails.
What I recommend is an Organic Solution - that is NEEM OIL SPRAY. 5ml neem oil in 1 liter of water weekly twice for 2 weeks and then maintenance dose of atleast monthly once or once in 15 days.

Keeping the foliage dry is a key, you should water only at the base of plant. But the black spot disease spores are actually in the air.

I have had both a rose and honeysuckle plants not die from but all foliage defoiliated and flowers lost. Method I used to stop black spot was something Ive seen online which seems to stop the disease and that is to dissolve 1 325mg "uncoated' aspirin in a quart /liter of water and spray all affected areas till fungus is stopped and that includes both stems , top and bottom of leaves.

Hi, im so greatful to found your channel as I just transplanted a few new roses from cutting into my garden... I've been watching almost all of your video to get better knowledge about protecting my plants. Would like to know, if i can use normal vegetable oils instead of neem oil? From the last video I saw, you mentioned we can use veggie oil instead of neem oil to clean plants leaf... Was wondering if I can do the same? Because so far I can't find neem oil where I'm located... Appreciated your advice..
PS : im so happy that I had more than 5 new plants - roses into my garden, just from cutting.. So would like to get more advice to take a good care of my plant..

Thanks. Neem oil is the gold standard in organic gardening. If you have little or no pests you can use any liquid soap 5 ml per litre and about 10 ml vegetable oil and spray. If you have pests adding other options shown here may help ruclips.net/video/PKJOEMtz9jQ/видео.html

My rose is going through this again this year. I even scooped the mulch away and added new mulch just in case. It was so vibrant n healthy for a couple yrs prior. 😕 I recently cut it back n thinned it out bc fungi crept up on it again, I have even pulled branches apart so no branch touches the other. I sprayed with a fungicide, but it’s not fully under control. Humidity has been 60-70% every day, temp 85-95. Does fungicide kill the fungus or prevent fungus? I left a few bad leaves on thinking it was okay. No? I also added a layer of compost to help strengthen it. It’s planted in the ground.
    Thank you.

What is the best time to spray any chemical insecticide/ fungicide/pesticide spray on the plants? Is it morning time or evening time? And if sprayed in the morning then will the harsh sun during the day damage the plant? Also, after spraying the chemical treatment the next day should the leaves be washed with water to remove the chemical?

Evening is better. Nothing just leave it as such.

I treated my roses with baking soda, vinegar, vegetable oil, mixed in a spray bottle with water for fungus, or black spot, and since by then I have black spots ( not the regular fungus black spot) on the tips of my roses. Did I maybe mix too strong, is one particular thing causes it that I used? Thanks, John
