- Watch along with your students or child as we explore the brain in the palm of our hand and what happens when our "lid" FLIPS.
This is one of my all time favorite Social/Emotional Lessons to teach children of all ages. Simply a MUST DO when focusing on positive discipline. I love to start my year off teaching students how their own brain works and what they can do to manage their BIG emotions.
Give this lesson a try and share it with a friend. No one is too old to flip their lid ;)
Discussion questions for your student:
What are some things that make you flip your lid? Can you think of a time?
What does it look like when you flip your lid?
How does your body FEEL when your lid is flipped?
Where is a spot in our house/classroom you can go to calm down?
What do you need from me (the adult) when your lid is flipped?
How can you help someone else when their lid flips?
TIP: I like to also pair this lesson with my favorite author, Julia Cook and read "Soda Pop Head" afterwards.
