@wirebrushproductions1001 because you cant hunt animals? Boil water? Plus attacking at night would probably make them think they've angered the gods and they'd start offering things up in atonement lol

Like the Marine long range marksmen aren't going to notice a dude sitting on a horse on the edge of the battle and give him a long range lobotomy. Caesar wouldn't have survived his first observation visit.

There is no way in hell Caesar would be able to figure out how their weapon systems work from 8 football fields away. They would assume ammo on the marines end was seeming endless and clear away. As marines run lower on supplies after the initial engagement marines switch to purely night fighting where the Roman's have 0 hope of doing anything. Split into small squads systematically kill off a few Roman's retreat under the cover of night vision faster than they'd be able to follow you. During the day hide with camouflage and stealth tactics beyond anything the Roman's would be able to comprehend.

Don't forget that these marines are not just trigger pullers. They already know Ceasars strategies and would be prepared. These are well trained 2026 men and I'm pretty sure the Julius Ceasars army would $hit in their pants trying to comprehend their army dying by bowless arrows with no rod.

The batteries of the night vision devices are good for between 7.5 and 50h, depending on configuration and modell. Unless they come prepared for night action, I would be surprised if they get more than 15h of usage out of then.

if we’re playing by the video’s own rules...fixed positions, perfect optics, modern rifles, and Marines calmly engaging targets at 600 meters - then yes, the second Caesar personally trots forward on horseback to “assess the situation,” the story doesn’t become “ancient genius vs modern infantry.”
    It becomes:
One guy with a scope just deleted the Roman Republic’s entire command structure with a single trigger pull.

It's actually surprising how fast ancient armies could be. The Roman "iter iustum" (proper day's march) was about 30 km. So you could take a Roman army 1000 miles in 50 days.

  • @FallschirmJagerAcademics

Now hear me out, what if they just... walk into rome? They tell people they're the soldiers of god, here to personally escort Caesar for an audience with mars. If the legionaries resist, shoot them down. Reaffirm, and then julius himself comes down. Our weapons are nothing short of miracles for them anyway.

I think you underestimate how quickly trained artillerymen can walk their shots. They would have another round in the air before the first one made impact, the second one would hit before most of the column had even started processing the first explosion, the third one would hit as they were scrambling to make their turtles and everyone would be running for their lives by the time the fifth one detonated. Violence never solves problems, but overwhelming violence has, historically, solved every problem mankind has ever had.

These 180 Marines with 210 shots of ammunition per person have a total of 37800 shots for their rifles. In WW2, about 45000 shots were fired per enemy killed (and most soldiers had no automatic weapons). In Vietnam, it was about 50000 shots per casualty. And in Iraq/Afghanistan about 250000 shots per insurgent killed. Granted, the marines may get a better ratio initially, with the advantage of surprise. But they will still run out of ammunition really fast. And let's not forget that the romans have artillery, too. I don't think the blunt trauma from a sling shot is as trivial as assumed. And certainly an onager or ballista will still take a soldier out, by sheer kinetic energy, even without penetration.

Technology isn’t the only advantage, knowledge is as well. Modern day soldiers studied(hopefully) the tactics of Cesar countless times. So essentially you know the enemy more than they know themselves. Chop the head off the snake, body will fall. When Caesar pops his head out the best snipers should be flanked out. Not only to provide cover for infantry but to have secondary orders to spot, detect, and take Caesar out whether on the field or track where he stays at night.

    • @cypherpunks2002

The tactical disparity between modern combined arms and ancient infantry formations is staggering. This is a brilliant look at the evolution of command and control across two millennia.

Former USMC mortarman here. 6:04 you say mortars make almost no sound on launch. This information is incredibly incorrect. A rifle company of marines would be armed with 4 60mm mortars. Each manned by at least 2 mortarman (gunner/Assistant gunner). Each mortar is incredibly deafening when fired and becomes even louder the further the mortar team has to fire. This is because mortar rounds are assisted in their propulsion by Mortar Charges. To put it basically, mortar charges are little rings of propellant that can be attached to a mortar shell to hit further targets. (They look like spicy donuts but dont taste as good.. trust me..) You can stack mortar charges to a maximum of 4. Without any mortar charges the maximum range of a 60mm mortar round is only about 500m. At 2000+ meters it's a safe bet that you'll need at least 2 mortar charges to hit your target. More charges = bigger boom. Mortars when fired without charges are deafeningly loud. Even more so than your standard rifle already is. A few mortars firing at 2000m would be heard quite easily. Which is why doctrinally, marine mortar squads will fire on a target and displace once they've confirmed effects.

@ashtonbm6435so condescending for someone who got it wrong 😂😂😂 Standard military Kevlar isn't meant for arrows, knives, and swords. Of course it does provide some kind of shielding but no, arrows will pierce it.

Bro why does Ceaser has such a huge plot armor Marines could just bomb his camp or kill him on sight when he first arrived to see the marines they don't need to destroy his whole army to win.

Caesar is the beating heart of the Roman fighting machine! I'm pretty sure the Marines would figure out a way to take him out eventually! A fatal shot from almost a kilometer away is not that difficult for a perfectly trained Marine sniper! And the Romans sure won't know that they could be killed from way yonder! Hope you put that into consideration! Nice fairy tale though. 👍

i am from türkiye we have special soldier groups like SAT can go in sea can use parachute mainly operates in dark and with very small groups with critical missions.probably if a SAT group have the mission they could kill ceasar and come back instantly without being seen and probably cost will be 3-5 o2 tubes of oxygen ,1 bullet ,meals for mission, salary of the soldiers.i think for the marines just 1 sniper with good camoflauge can complete the mission.

Watch the anime gate. It shows you what happens when Roman Legions meets modern warfare in the first few episodes. Let’s just say, it becomes a one sided massacre. A general from the other world, lost an arm and a leg, due to mortar fire. That general became terrified of the weapons wielded by the Japanese Defense Force

Ambiorix leader of the Eburon tribe,
bound the Belgae together onto a unified force and won.
