@wirebrushproductions1001 because you cant hunt animals? Boil water? Plus attacking at night would probably make them think they've angered the gods and they'd start offering things up in atonement lol
Like the Marine long range marksmen aren't going to notice a dude sitting on a horse on the edge of the battle and give him a long range lobotomy. Caesar wouldn't have survived his first observation visit.
There is no way in hell Caesar would be able to figure out how their weapon systems work from 8 football fields away. They would assume ammo on the marines end was seeming endless and clear away. As marines run lower on supplies after the initial engagement marines switch to purely night fighting where the Roman's have 0 hope of doing anything. Split into small squads systematically kill off a few Roman's retreat under the cover of night vision faster than they'd be able to follow you. During the day hide with camouflage and stealth tactics beyond anything the Roman's would be able to comprehend.
Don't forget that these marines are not just trigger pullers. They already know Ceasars strategies and would be prepared. These are well trained 2026 men and I'm pretty sure the Julius Ceasars army would $hit in their pants trying to comprehend their army dying by bowless arrows with no rod.
The batteries of the night vision devices are good for between 7.5 and 50h, depending on configuration and modell. Unless they come prepared for night action, I would be surprised if they get more than 15h of usage out of then.
if we’re playing by the video’s own rules...fixed positions, perfect optics, modern rifles, and Marines calmly engaging targets at 600 meters - then yes, the second Caesar personally trots forward on horseback to “assess the situation,” the story doesn’t become “ancient genius vs modern infantry.” It becomes: One guy with a scope just deleted the Roman Republic’s entire command structure with a single trigger pull.
It's actually surprising how fast ancient armies could be. The Roman "iter iustum" (proper day's march) was about 30 km. So you could take a Roman army 1000 miles in 50 days.
Now hear me out, what if they just... walk into rome? They tell people they're the soldiers of god, here to personally escort Caesar for an audience with mars. If the legionaries resist, shoot them down. Reaffirm, and then julius himself comes down. Our weapons are nothing short of miracles for them anyway.
For one, A platoon of marines would’ve taken out Cesar the very first night. After they chopped off the head they only would have fought at night and it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. One shot one kill is the method they would’ve used to preserve ammo.
Scouts with DMR’s and NVG’s go out at night locate basically the moving palace ceaser slept in call in artillery at night and the story is over before it started.
when you are superior and powerful, you dont wait for the enemy to come to you - you go full tactical, use drones they always have with them to lock there comanders position or Caesar's position and at night, go hunting and capture where Caesar is
This is the second video I have seen of yours, and now I have no choice but to subscribe (did that on the first video I saw tbh...) anyways now I have to binge watch!!!!
Using the night vision they can infiltrate the camp and capture Caesar then fight the rest break their will making him watch. Then they all disappear deep into the forest
That’s exactly what they’re gonna do. And Cesar will die the very first night. I don’t know what this guy in the video is talking about. Marines, fighting during the day? Yeah, right. Although they would be 50 yards away from Cesar soldiers gathering intelligence and they would never know it.
Yes and bc of their technical superiority, they can even come at it from inventive ways, meaning the depletion of their amo won't be an issue. This guy is wrong on so many levels. This is like Gate, but with Julius Caesar at the disadvantage, BC that is the holy Roman empire ( Not to be confused with the Roman empire, BC not the same thing ).,. I think you underestimate how quickly trained artillerymen can walk their shots. They would have another round in the air before the first one made impact, the second one would hit before most of the column had even started processing the first explosion, the third one would hit as they were scrambling to make their turtles and everyone would be running for their lives by the time the fifth one detonated. Violence never solves problems, but overwhelming violence has, historically, solved every problem mankind has ever had.
best strategy: marine gets sick for the team and infects wounded enemy soldiers. In a week, all romans are dead. Also... they could try to use the sniper to shoot Cesar and all high command who like to use shiny hats. Then they bombard them with mortars and have scared soldiers run away, for those that stay They hunt during the night and destroy their supply line. 40k soldiers die of starvation and disease.
The Roman Empire was basically a gigantic war crime by modern standards. The ancient world used cruelty as a common tactic. It was win at all costs. They didn’t worry about being liked by other nations. Long distance communication and alliances weren’t a thing back then.
a more interesting aspect to this scenario is, what happens to the gear from the future in the hands of ancient rome. they were already playing around with small steam engines. what leaps and bounds in tech would they make with reverse engineering everything left behind. just upgrading the legions from sandals to boots seams like it would have a huge influence on the future.
It would be pretty cool if they came out with a game about "War" that allows you to simulate/play through these types of things. A robust game, that truly allows ample amount of customizations that allow you pit any forces against each othrr from any time period with any combination of weapons that you see fit.
Those are good numbers, 180 guys times 210 rounds on average (not including explosives or specialized weapons)... I don't know man, they'd probably get overrun unless they had a lot of extra ammo on them

These 180 Marines with 210 shots of ammunition per person have a total of 37800 shots for their rifles. In WW2, about 45000 shots were fired per enemy killed (and most soldiers had no automatic weapons). In Vietnam, it was about 50000 shots per casualty. And in Iraq/Afghanistan about 250000 shots per insurgent killed. Granted, the marines may get a better ratio initially, with the advantage of surprise. But they will still run out of ammunition really fast. And let's not forget that the romans have artillery, too. I don't think the blunt trauma from a sling shot is as trivial as assumed. And certainly an onager or ballista will still take a soldier out, by sheer kinetic energy, even without penetration.
Love these videos! Technology isn’t the only advantage, knowledge is as well. Modern day soldiers studied(hopefully) the tactics of Cesar countless times. So essentially you know the enemy more than they know themselves. Chop the head off the snake, body will fall. When Caesar pops his head out the best snipers should be flanked out. Not only to provide cover for infantry but to have secondary orders to spot, detect, and take Caesar out whether on the field or track where he stays at night.
@cyp@cypherpunks2002know what? I did said tactics, I meant strategy. But while strategy may take priority, tactics shouldn’t be discounted. You can have a dope strategy and still get your butt kicked due to poor tactics
@Taj_Fitness Absolutely. But shield, spear, and gladius tactics have very minimal relevance to the modern battlefield. The weaponry is just to different.
The tactical disparity between modern combined arms and ancient infantry formations is staggering. Beyond the weaponry, the speed of communication and battlefield awareness in a Marine unit would completely bypass the strategic maneuvers of the Gallic Wars. This is a brilliant look at the evolution of command and control across two millennia.
Former USMC mortarman here. 6:04 you say mortars make almost no sound on launch. This information is incredibly incorrect. A rifle company of marines would be armed with 4 60mm mortars. Each manned by at least 2 mortarman (gunner/Assistant gunner). Each mortar is incredibly deafening when fired and becomes even louder the further the mortar team has to fire. This is because mortar rounds are assisted in their propulsion by Mortar Charges. To put it basically, mortar charges are little rings of propellant that can be attached to a mortar shell to hit further targets. (They look like spicy donuts but dont taste as good.. trust me..) You can stack mortar charges to a maximum of 4. Without any mortar charges the maximum range of a 60mm mortar round is only about 500m. At 2000+ meters it's a safe bet that you'll need at least 2 mortar charges to hit your target. More charges = bigger boom. Mortars when fired without charges are deafeningly loud. Even more so than your standard rifle already is. A few mortars firing at 2000m would be heard quite easily. Which is why doctrinally, marine mortar squads will fire on a target and displace once they've confirmed effects.
Buddy. I hate to tell you but it does. I’m sorry your temu armor is not the best but atleast do a little bit of research what an arrow tip does against ar500 steel😂or whatever the marines got tucked in their carrier
@ashtonbm6435did u know that body armour is supposed to slow down bullets and not fully stop them by letting them bounce off your body? 4-5 bullets can heavily wound you if they hit your body, no matter if you have body armour or not

@ashtonbm6435so condescending for someone who got it wrong 😂😂😂 Standard military Kevlar isn't meant for arrows, knives, and swords. Of course it does provide some kind of shielding but no, arrows will pierce it.
Bro why does Ceaser has such a huge plot armor Marines could just bomb his camp or kill him on sight when he first arrived to see the marines they don't need to destroy his whole army to win.
Caesar is the beating heart of the Roman fighting machine! I'm pretty sure the Marines would figure out a way to take him out eventually! A fatal shot from almost a kilometer away is not that difficult for a perfectly trained Marine sniper! And the Romans sure won't know that they could be killed from way yonder! Hope you put that into consideration! Nice fairy tale though. 👍
i am from türkiye we have special soldier groups like SAT can go in sea can use parachute mainly operates in dark and with very small groups with critical missions.probably if a SAT group have the mission they could kill ceasar and come back instantly without being seen and probably cost will be 3-5 o2 tubes of oxygen ,1 bullet ,meals for mission, salary of the soldiers.i think for the marines just 1 sniper with good camoflauge can complete the mission.
Watch the anime gate. It shows you what happens when Roman Legions meets modern warfare in the first few episodes. Let’s just say, it becomes a one sided massacre. A general from the other world, lost an arm and a leg, due to mortar fire. That general became terrified of the weapons wielded by the Japanese Defense Force

The Marines would attack piece by piece at night until the psychological aspect would take its toll.
agree
Yup. Ceasar's soldiers will not have a chance
would not lasts long, if they run out of ammo, they are totally cooked.
They don't have resupply, so they are going to start getting hungry very quickly.
First morter and they finna be worshiping the solders like gods
Marines
😂😂😂
@cal1776 same thing
@drewbaker7899 no
@cal1776 acting like marines aren't soldiers
There is no way in hell Caesar would be able to figure out how their weapon systems work from 8 football fields away. They would assume ammo on the marines end was seeming endless and clear away. As marines run lower on supplies after the initial engagement marines switch to purely night fighting where the Roman's have 0 hope of doing anything. Split into small squads systematically kill off a few Roman's retreat under the cover of night vision faster than they'd be able to follow you. During the day hide with camouflage and stealth tactics beyond anything the Roman's would be able to comprehend.
anything but metric but yeah you're right
Don't forget that these marines are not just trigger pullers.

180 marines didn't read the history books to get the numbers of Caesars army so they decided to take 250 per rifle .
And this is why I think about the Roman Empire every week. 🙃
underrated channel
nice video!!!!
Thank you so much, it may seem strange but I had the exact same tough two days ago
Cool I like
Let's be honest, the Roman Iron Legionnaires were the Ancient counterparts of the U.S. Marines of today's standards.
Could the marines attack Cesar's HQ at night?
That’s exactly what they’re gonna do. And Cesar will die the very first night. I don’t know what this guy in the video is talking about. Marines, fighting during the day? Yeah, right. Although they would be 50 yards away from Cesar soldiers gathering intelligence and they would never know it.

exactly! In a long fight, in my opinion, I think Caesar and his army would win
I dont know about this
@o@official2amthoughtsTbf they could use missiles on them because they battled bunched together at least from what I’ve been told
@official2amthoughtsin a long fight they just kill caesar

The moment Caesar watches the battle he gets snipe
The modern marines will beat caesar's soldiers instantly
Caesar would try to communicate with the Marines and win them to his cause against the Gauls.
the bulet proof vest wasnt designed to stand arrows it will go through

There wasn’t a “soldier” amongst those Marines.
And if the Marines fail, send in the Rangers.
interesting
Psychology games are definitely in favor of the marines
Btw could they just assassinate caeser?
‘Make a Roman shield feel like a genuine person problem’?! What the heck does that mean.

lol romans seeing RPG fly towards them like wtf?
First mortar hits, the Roman soldiers are crapping their togas and running away in droves.
if caesar can see and observe the marines as they kill his soldiers, the snipers should be able to easily spot caesar as well.

Beyond the weaponry, the speed of communication and battlefield awareness in a Marine unit would completely bypass the strategic maneuvers of the Gallic Wars. This is a brilliant look at the evolution of command and control across two millennia.
Bruh the Roman’s would get torn apart by 100 50 caliber machine guns
Great video but missing something. How long did it take for one of them to find their next dependent in a town/village?
They probably thought the Marines were Gods and built thousands of Marine churches
“body armour stops arrows” let me stop u right there💔
4-5 bullets can heavily wound you if they hit your body, no matter if you have body armour or not
Agrees, that guy is wrong on so many levels.
This is like Gate,
but with Julius Caesar at the disadvantage,
BC that is the holy Roman empire
( Not to be confused with the Roman empire, BC not the same thing ).,.
Also, bullet proof is bullet proof.,.
It's not against swords and such
and it's why soldiers in Germany etc are using back chain mail.,.
He's also an idiot.,.
vercingetorix lost, was thrown in jail and tortured to dead, Wel before the attack on Talia Belgica,
who won against Julius Caesar.
Ambiorix leader of the Eburon tribe,
bound the Belgae together onto a unified force and won.
Not to mention,
He acts like well trained marines,
would suddenly start firing their guns as if they're 3yo,
fighting on some hero shooter game.
9:23 yes they can, even a party of 4 can
and these are 180.
Do you think they threw away their shoes as well?
They can easily construct a star shaped fort as well.,.
Yes, the Roman army was advanced 4 it's time
and even though they were defeated by Ambiorix and Galia Belgica,
he came back and took them more seriously than this vercingetorix.,.
Ambiorix escaped after that into Germania.,.
@ashtonbm6435so condescending for someone who got it wrong 😂😂😂 Standard military Kevlar isn't meant for arrows, knives, and swords. Of course it does provide some kind of shielding but no, arrows will pierce it.
No way Ceasar is understanding even 5% of their fighting style like u showed in the vid
Boys in italy:
The British Royal Marine training way harder than the USMC.
Bro why does Ceaser has such a huge plot armor Marines could just bomb his camp or kill him on sight when he first arrived to see the marines they don't need to destroy his whole army to win.
Now let the marines use nukes.
Plz do nuclear and bio weapons vs them 5:30
Even if the Romans even could fathom winning we still of 182000 we fine
sniper takes out ceaser lol
nuclear bomb vs hydrogen bomb
How many e tool kills we gettin
marines could just snipe caesar when he was at the battlefield watching
You mean "... sitting in the back of formation, waiting patiently, to ruin some one's day.* ..."
2:28 armor today aren't really made to deflect or even stop those weapons, our armor today are specifically made to stop bullets.
how about 10 tanks and 190 soldiers
UNSTABLE SMP ahh fight
10:15 So we just throw out the Snipers sitting and shifting out in the wilderness. The ones that will take out Command immediately on sight. 😅😅😂😂😂😂😂
What if alapache was there?
What these sims fail to calculate is the psychological aspect of fighting the Gods.....
i am from türkiye we have special soldier groups like SAT can go in sea can use parachute mainly operates in dark and with very small groups with critical missions.probably if a SAT group have the mission they could kill ceasar and come back instantly without being seen and probably cost will be 3-5 o2 tubes of oxygen ,1 bullet ,meals for mission, salary of the soldiers.i think for the marines just 1 sniper with good camoflauge can complete the mission.
Wouldn't the Marines wait until nightfall and take out as many as they can in a short time before anyone notices?
What if all of the world's Army fight caesar army
This is nice and all. But I assure you the marines would win because of integrated drone technology, and utilize that to take out caesar's hq.
This matchup feels impossible… but that’s why it’s so fascinating to imagine.
@bagsikdangal that's my boy
It's stupid.,.
