Scooter is four years old today and gets a special treat. As expected, his wild side is revealed. Recorded April 26, 2016. sites.google.c... / coyotenamedscooter #coyotenamedscooter
Guys, it's not cruel to own a coyote, if you know how to take care of them. Sean has been to my school many times and has brought scooter, who has never acted aggressive when he was there, just a bit nervous. Scooter was rescued off the side of the road when he was a pup and I guess has always been a little skiddish, but Sean is a great owner, I can assure you that.
Carolyn marvin you don't "own" pets... Also is that Sean recording ? May I suggest it might be the forever changing tones in your voice.watch the vids back its when you change tour tone or your tone wavers to much.also animals can smell fear .all animals in captivity including humans snap.
Yeah its a very good sign for domestication and all of that (apart from the genetic studies and progress that is) and hopefully we will have a coyote that will be more belly rub happy.
Instinct drives him to protect the toy because it is his. Having it taken from him forcefully is more or less battering the superiority out of him. Notice when he approaches scooter scooters lip peels back and he growls. The hair on his back stands up and then he rolls over. Canines roll over to signify that whoever is looming over them is superior. He’s frightened and has obviously been in a similar situation before. He has also been grabbed and wronged by that glove so many times that he has developed a negative vision of it. That’s a frightened coyote not a pet.
Joslin Lopez Yep. That’s how coyotes communicate. Normally it’s used as a scare tactic to ward of any possible threat or to be a little playful. Other times it’s a sign of defense. Sometimes they just want to be alone. They’re a really interesting creature.
Honestly, youre doing people a HUGE favor by showing this. No matter how well trained or even if they are born in captivity normally wild animals are EXTREMELY possessive over food and will attack over it. if it wants to get over on you there never was a relationship...I've seen video of a female that looked grown playing very naturally with a cat, as if a dog. Being female probably made that happen since wild males tend to be less...friendly.
Kinda funny, since my dog kinda wants people to "take" her treats from her. She just waits for people to say to give it back few times before she starts to eat. It's kinda funny.
Ricky P. Martin Wolves behave much more differently to coyotes. They both have completely different behaviors. Wolves are generally not this possessive about food. People who own wolves are usually perfectly fine feeding them without aggressive behaviors, and just like dogs, each one has their own personality. Not a friendly animal at all. You definitely have guts of steel. I admire that. There’s no need to fear these animals, just understand them, and respect them. That’s all it takes.
Philthy McNasty He was just trying to point out that’s it’s ironic how scooter growls in an aggressive tone while the owner says that scooter is friendly.
We still know too little on the behaviour of canidae. You and Scooter are doing a good job. To me, as a dog owner, he acts astonishing, but you learned how to interprete this. He really is beautyfull! Greetings from a german biologist.
Brandon VA .....I never saw no belly rubbing......he does seem aggressive...that coyote does not seem to like her...Im going to watch the other vids. Would a dog be good company for him ?Or would he kill it ?
But he still is wild animal he's not a domestic dog. So he's bound to act a little wild I think I nice she doesn't squash that out. She also seems to respect him.
Zombunny but you’d think that he would consider his owner as his alpha as this is the bond that domestic dogs have with humans especially since he was raised since he was really young
It's nice to see the people who really understand that somethings can't be tamed and will always be wild but that there's nothing wrong with that it's the way their ment to be.
I think he needs more of a comfy environment and a routine. His room looked cold and uncomfortable. Coyotes nest and get cozy in the wild, he needs a space to create his nest and feel comfortable. When canines sleep in that position it means they’re on high alert. Coyotes in the wild have routes they walk on a regular basis, this seems to be the foundation of their days. Scooter may be suffering from anxiety from being deprived of that. I don’t know if he will walk on a lead but it seems to me that he needs more exercise to work off the anxiety. My dog is half coyote and is exceptionally intelligent, vocal, protective but also loves to cuddle and always wants to help with anything I’m doing. She’s great with dogs, kids, babies, cats and even baby birds! I’m lucky to have saved her when she was only 8 weeks; I really believe that any animal is a reflection of their caretaker. As a coyote mom, I can say that they have so much love to give if they know they are safe and understood x I pray that Sean will provide Scooter with a more comfortable and perceptive life.
You have a Coy dog. A full blooded coyote is a bit different as they are wolves in their own right. You are correct about the den/nesting and routine however.
apparently, nobody watches the newer videos were scooter plays with them and got a new be because he destroyed his old one that is why he is on a blanket also the room has heat and ac
@@melissahill970 look, no one is saying that he is being physically abused but bed or no bed, he is being kept inside a cage a garage. There is no way he is happy.
Flash forward a couple years. "Now in local news a woman with a pet coyote was viciously mauled to death despite years of obvious warning signs of aggression. Bill Simmons has the story."
we have Coyotes here in Aurora, which is a part of Denver metro area. I never had respect for the danger until I saw these videos. They don't look all that scary or strong when they are doing thier own thing but I can see just how dangerous one could potentially be now. I really like them a lot more too. Beautiful animals. I can see yours is afforded lots of space and is rarely close to walls. Do they get more agressive in tighter quarters? Wven on cage I notice his bed is in the center where most doggos owners might have it in the corner. I helped raise a wolf once, he hated violence bad enough the other dogs gave him siezures when they got too crazy. Not a lick of harm in him unless you were a emu, turkey, or a chicken. He wouldn't even playfight the others. He was a pure wolf too, his name was Bear, because wolf pups look like little brown bears, not really like puppies at all. His fangs were huge. He was strong like an ox, too it was unbelievable. He was raised since before 5 days old which is why I think he was so docile. He might have licked a person or two to death by now I think. I did worry he was gonna drown someone with affection quite literally sometimes ha
Most coyotes aren't like scooter at all. and are very friendly domestic ones. and are breed to be hunting dogs and sniffer dogs.in Popular fashion, today coyotes are bred with dogs to make coydogs. They can be very friendly and playful they are also very hyper. here are 3 links to pet coyotes and coydogs. This how most coyotes and coydogs are that are domesticated. the not like scooter at all. I think scooter has brain worms lol!!! anyways here are 3 links to how most coyotes and coydogs act. ruclips.net/video/HcQDZWHrGTU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/H25pukmhVMM/видео.html last link this one's a coydog. ruclips.net/video/m4e8kiNRAnU/видео.html. hope you learn most coyotes and coydogs aren't like scooter I'm pretty sure scooter has a couple loose screws and bent wires in his brain they need Cesar Millan for him the dog whisperer.
I do not agree with certain animals be kept as pets, but I respect that you are showing the world the real reactions, people think that because they tame them they won’t hurt them, but instinct can take over at any time, weather you expect it or not, this is great footage of what it looks like, thank you for posting this, I respect you and this beautiful animal. You have earned yourself a new subscriber. 😁
This coyote is too domestic to be released into the wild but still he a bit scary even with his tail tucked and showing his belly. Ppl who think owning a wild animal is cool should watch this
This animal acts this way because he is in the same family as a dog or a wolf. The person in this video has no business owning one. They are pack animals that need an (alpha) the person in this video has no dominance or assertiveness at all. They would be better off owning a cat or a turtle
Nes Nej well he is a wild animals not a pet he is not like a dog you cant just talk to him with authority and expect him to know what it means and she dosent have to
Aiyana Lewis I see what your saying but there is still the animals instincts to obey there alpha, and when a coyote meets a bear it knows in the situation the bear is the alpha
Yah in the video he also bit her. It makes me cringe so much to see her do that to that animal. It's just not right to do that to a wild animal no matter how good your attentions may have been.
While it can happen I dont think Sean would not see that coming and act accordingly, considering who he is. But yes, working with wildlife will always be risky.
Knowing " the chewy " causes so much aggression, whether it's his birthday or not I wouldn't even allow it. Causes the animal to much stress, not to mention you kept hovering over him every hour making him think you were going to take it. Next time no more " chewys" knowing this kind of behavior will happen. Doesn't make sense.
BeckyKendall ya she should’ve either gotten him a “chewy” that won’t tear up his intestines as rawhide DOES. she could’ve given him a small deer antler or something and LEFT it. instead of making him feel it was gonna be a punishment taking it
Minnesnowta Service pup nova Seriously, thank you. It's like people just watch the video, and assume they know what's happening in the animal's mind due to the animal's "Angry" reaction. When in fact they know nothing.
Look how she handles him. 1. Wearing gloves, most animals will attach the piss out of you if you go at them with gloves on. 2. Camera In the face. 3. Probably off the normal routine. 4. He seems to have issues with food being over protective but notice when the gloves are off he is a little more chill with food. There are a number of stimulation going on for him in the beginning. Lower amounts close to the end of the video between food and whatever else she did with him off camera. But none of it was meant bad he seemed just to want to act like the shit earlier.
He could've bit the handler in the face, but he didn't. There's something about this relationship between this care taker and coyote that makes me feel content, almost as if they respect each other for what they are, even if the coyote doesn't fully understand that he's just taking care of him.
@@martinel7231 yeah exactly. Saying "good boy" there is exactly why this person has no business handling a coyote. He is going to get himself injured if not killed. Coyotes are pack animals just like wolves or dogs. If you arent dominant and assertive this is what happens
I wanted a Coyote or wolf for a pet. But now... Not so much. That thing wanted to kill you. Guess I will stick with my German Shepherd. he looks like a wolf
Vile Nation Gaming Wild animals are wild for a reason. They're can be exceptions but usually few and far between. Stick with a regular dog or house cat in my opinion. Gold fish perhaps...
House Mouse That's why, like that previous person commented, baby talk for an ADULT wolf,coyote..or even larger more aggressive breeds of dogs..not such a good idea!
Yeah, this is why animal trainers try so hard to educate the public about wild animals. They are much more wary than a domesticated animal is, so it takes a lot more effort to communicate and you don't get the same buddy-buddy bond with them.
For as much animals I've worked & cared for, a coyote is one to not mess with. They're more wild & unpredictable than wolves. Sure I'm not saying owner/handler is bad,but when I see an animal growling & bearing teeth to snapping that's body language to "Stay Away & Leave me Alone!" Scooter gave point blank clues he wasn't feeling like socializing with the handler. So the constant pressure of being invaded into what should be HIS personal space is triggering the aggression.
Actually Scooter was just upset his toy was being taken away. Also if you worked with coyotes then you would know coyotes don't bark so they communicate by growling and biting.
@@jenniferwright5925 attacking his owner isnt submissive behavior. The issue in this video is the fact that coyotes (just like wolves or dogs) are pack animals that respond to assertiveness and dominance, which the person in this video lacks. If they dont learn to be more assertive and properly handle this animal they will wind up injured... you dont say "your a good boy" with a feminine tone after a coyote attacks you, instead you say "back up and lay down over there" with dominance in your voice and pointing at his location to lay down before he even gets to the point of attacking
@@charlesreed4327 Coyotes aren't pack animals, rarely will they hunt in packs and on very certain occasions a small pack of coyotes may form if they are hunting big game.
@@charlesreed4327 I'm sorry did you not read what I said? I didn't say attacking his owner is submissive behavior, I said rolling over and baring teeth is submissive behavior. I also really don't care about someone's opinion on how to tame a wild animal. Shouldn't be a pet in the 1st place.
Fabio Fernandez literally anything they know is food they act that way. Same with any dog. You don't mess with them when they're eating. Now the uploader for not knowing this is what I question.
They can also get extremely protective around their food much like Scooter does with that treat. She even puts in the video about how the behaviour is expected. I agree with you about people overreacting

It's really funny how his instinct to protect the chewy and the tame side wanting belly rubs collide
Yeah its a very good sign for domestication and all of that (apart from the genetic studies and progress that is) and hopefully we will have a coyote that will be more belly rub happy.
just so you know, rolling over on his back isn't a sign of 'belly rubs' it's a submissive posture, but that doesn't mean he won't be aggressive.

what is there not to fear of coyotes?! they would rip you up in seconds if they’re hungry
Someone understands and dosent just scream abuse

But he still is wild animal he's not a domestic dog. So he's bound to act a little wild I think I nice she doesn't squash that out. She also seems to respect him.
Zombunny but you’d think that he would consider his owner as his alpha as this is the bond that domestic dogs have with humans especially since he was raised since he was really young
It's nice to see the people who really understand that somethings can't be tamed and will always be wild but that there's nothing wrong with that it's the way their ment to be.
Zombunny fun fact she is actually a he.. that’s tuff
Its a dude
Now imagine a generation of pups from this coyote would be more domesticated that's how humans have done it for thousands of years
I think he needs more of a comfy environment and a routine.
As a coyote mom, I can say that they have so much love to give if they know they are safe and understood x
I pray that Sean will provide Scooter with a more comfortable and perceptive life.
You have a Coy dog. A full blooded coyote is a bit different as they are wolves in their own right. You are correct about the den/nesting and routine however.

There are other coyote owners on youtube who act WAY differently. She shouldn't have one of she can't tame it.
we have Coyotes here in Aurora, which is a part of Denver metro area.
I used to buy my weed in Aurora lol
Sounds nice.

While it can happen I dont think Sean would not see that coming and act accordingly, considering who he is. But yes, working with wildlife will always be risky.
He’s both terrifying and adorable 😅
I guess you're a coyote expert...
BeckyKendall would have given him a coyote safe popsicle or something. Rawhide is so bad for them
Minnesnowta Service pup nova "she"? Dude, the owners a man. He just speaks in a soft voice as to not threaten the animal.
I think that good boy of yours is telling you something different
Look how she handles him. 1. Wearing gloves, most animals will attach the piss out of you if you go at them with gloves on. 2. Camera In the face. 3. Probably off the normal routine. 4. He seems to have issues with food being over protective but notice when the gloves are off he is a little more chill with food. There are a number of stimulation going on for him in the beginning. Lower amounts close to the end of the video between food and whatever else she did with him off camera. But none of it was meant bad he seemed just to want to act like the shit earlier.
The Doggo might wanna tell The owner that he wanted to Go back taking a nap.

He could've bit the handler in the face, but he didn't. There's something about this relationship between this care taker and coyote that makes me feel content, almost as if they respect each other for what they are, even if the coyote doesn't fully understand that he's just taking care of him.

I use to have a 12 or old Grey wolf ... I was 5 . and run in cuddling a baby coyote

Virginia Flanagan agreed!

Somebody has to explain to me if something is wrong with him because he seems like he wants to eat you but doesn’t have it in him to really do it
Watch the national geographic documentary about wolves it will explain a lot. The rolling over and baring teeth can be submissive behavior
@@charlesreed4327 idk, picking up that thing seems assertive to me.
To be honest, some of these comments overreact because I've seen dogs be equally as protective of their toys.
Fabio Fernandez literally anything they know is food they act that way. Same with any dog. You don't mess with them when they're eating. Now the uploader for not knowing this is what I question.
