  • Mid-Ocean Ridge Tectonics - 2021-02-26 GEO Seminar at Calvin University
The Department of Geology, Geography and Environmental Studies (calvin.edu/geo) at Calvin University welcomed speakers Dr. Renee Sparks (geologist), Mr. Simon Detmer (geology major), and Mr. Adam Tjoelker (mechanical engineering major) from Calvin University on February 26, 2021.
Seminar Summary: Mid-oceanic ridge systems are mountain chains that characterize crustal boundaries between diverging tectonic plates. Using global imagery sets, the morphology of these ridge systems and their relationship to the change in earth’s gravity latitudinally are examined to propose an additional component of magma generation below diverging systems.
The GEO Seminar Series invites public lectures each semester on topics related to geology, geography and the environment. As always, the views expressed in this presentation are exclusively those of the presenters.
