Kendrick has a lot of dickriders according to most but I think the issue is his most loyal fans have a great connection to his music due to how it's made. Kendrick tells his own story in such a way that people can see truths in it when they don't even relate (EX: I fully understand the point of Swimming Pools and I've never been drunk). Because there's a sense of universal truth in his music people flock to it on a whole new level. This in turn leads people to develop a great connection to the artist that has created these things which makes the line between fan and blind fanboy very hard to see. This situation applies to every artist but I'm writing it here just because

Kenny Lamar is the only overrated rapper I love. All these rappers out here are underrated and not getting the recognition they deserve but Kendrick does deserve the fame and everything he has. I'm trying to be a rapper and yes I'm young but I'm not that 12 yr old white rich kid with shity bars I'm a 13 yr old white poor kid with OK bars. I started rapping at 8 and wanted to be a rapper at 12 but I kinda fell off of my skill. I was more or less going through a creative block but he kept me going he's been my favorite next to 2pac and eminem. And I'm not gonna put my mixtape link or SoundCloud here because I ain't gonna release at 13 it's just gonna make me look bad so Im just practicin rapping until high school or something. Kendrick has my respect for sure, but these days he's slipping into this media controlled American culture, and slowly becoming a industry product. Authentic isn't the word i would use, but he's definitely an important figure who represents an aspect of life which seems to dominate all conversations these days. Bring back that old Kendrick, we don't need more industry products.
