context for the song's story -- Orpheus (the legendary musician trying to rescue his lover Eurydice from Hadestown) is singing for Eurydice's life. Hades told Orpheus to sing him one last song before he sends Orpheus to "the great beyond" or whatever. This is the song Orpheus sings to him.

I hope more people recognize hadestown though. It tackles a lot of issues in our world and it is just so good!!
Hadestown is legit one of the best musicals so it makes me so happy to see someone making a cover of a song from it because it does not get enough recognition and this is BEAUTIFUL
