S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Combat Themes [redo]

- Ended up redoing the arrangements of the Combat Themes from Clear Sky, after not being too happy with my first versions. Combat Theme 2 is the same as my last one, I just took it down so I could have all 3 in one video.

The music, though very good, really caught me off guard. SOC had the “hopeless, slow and sad” type of beat, while Clear Sky has the “YOU’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLEFIELD KILL THEM ALL RAAGGH” type of beat.

Fits for both type of protagonist though
Strelok is probably a normal average dude who is more of scientist/researcher type than soldier
Scar is your average bodyguard/mercenary guy
@@weplo1597 Nah Strelok is definely not an average dude.... even his name hints that he is some kind of soldier, Strelok means shooter or gunslinger in russian.
@@quan-uo5ws Yeah Strelok is definitely has alot of experience with combat for a normal guy.
@@weplo1597which leads me to believe it’s the difference in personality that makes the music more like this. Scar is a lot more confrontational than Strelok, so the music will be more intense
I will always associate Theme 2 with bandits calling down the hand of god in the form of 20 RGD-5s on me.
lol, sounds about right. Oddly enough, I associate Theme 3 with Yantar (or just a fight at night) for some reason.
@@L0ki194theme 3 is the only combat theme that hat plays during the assault on Yantar, so that’s probably why lol. I also believe it’s the only one that plays for the bridge ambush at limansk too
My fondest memory of clear sky is when the 3rd one was playing during a firefight between me and some bandits. The music became slower when I dove into cover, the beats matching to my reload, then shot straight back into the fast beats the moment I opened fire again. Reminds me of the music behaviour in DOOM, Loved it.

Theme 2 is very epic and action-intensive, Theme 3 is the most fitting for STALKER and is also very epic, and Theme 1 is a middle ground. Theme 3 is the best imo.
Yeah, 3rd theme I've always like the most of the three tracks.

Song 3 was a blast when taking out Monolith from the bridge to Limansk.
Combat theme 3 is the best one.

theme 1 goes best during the game , but outside theme 3 beats everything
At this point I always call this theme (morale 4 theme)

@@thelightside77 all of the combat music in clear sky is split into dozens upon dozens of files the game throws together according to your play-style (less chaotic when you're hiding from an enemy, more chaotic the more confrontational you are), and those files are referred to as "stems". all 3 themes in this video were made by meticulously arranging those "stems" in a way that makes sense as regular music
Clear sky always gave me this sense of panic in combat… now I understand that the music I heard prolly did that too me 😂

I'll never forget the first faction war against Renegades at The Great Swamps while listening to Combat Theme 1.
even though clear sky is probably the worst out of all 3 vanilla games, the soundtrack absolutely slays it
It did factions better than the others though.
Also the game clearly wasn't meant to be like the other two games. It was mostly meant to tell viewers "The zone is at war."
Idk, i like Clear Sky more than Shadow of Chornobyl (Chornobyl, not Chernobyl)or Call of Pripyat. This atmosphere when you go through red forest, this bloodsucker's scream, army of snorks, and you without patrons... Plot is actually more interesting than in CoP, but level of hardcore is annoying sometimes. This background and fighting music is hella good too. I dont know why everyone hate this part, but i like it most

these tracks do infact have the parts where you run, when you get spotted by enemies, when you are fighting and when you are sneaking past them.

While it is far from the best in the series, I think Clear Sky has the best OST easily.
Yeah even the ambient tracks are very Stalker-y
Is there a way I could only listen to the 3rd theme, so I don't need to constantly go back and forth to forward/rewind to when it starts every time it ends while playing?
If you want, I could just slap it on a google drive link or something. Thankfully I still have the individual track files I exported back then.

in a Roblox game called decaying winter (recently renamed last strandeds), and in 1 of the 2 game Modes (which is an endless wave based shooter) there's boss waves, one of them uses this song,

Theme 2 fits fight with Bandits at Garbage perfectly. Especially while you try to secure the bandits base.
I love these tracks, but d'n'b with orchestral and rock elements is the last thing that I'd want to hear in the Zone. It must've killed the mood.
When you get shot it's fine but it depends on the mood. I switch things around according to mood.

How is music like this created?
I just stitched together the music files in Audacity. Clear Sky's dynamic combat music separates the song into multiple chunks, I just went with what sounded right.
It makes this music realy dynamic ⚔️
Anthony Chase, if you're talking about the sounds in this track then most of this are synths, drums, electro and bass guitars and a hell lota additional filters, EQs and god knows what else
Look on youtube after "90s Big Beat tutorial" and you'll grasp the general sense.
I understand a lot better how it is made. Using a DAW is the answer I was looking for back then and didn't know.
