Always enjoy your honest reviews...im trying to decide on another Shecter or Ibanez or really a Jackson...not to many honest reviews on a Jackson....if you get a chance to. Please review a Jackson...Thank You for your show
That Ibanez SA looks so good. I definitely want the HB roasted fusion III as well. I’m going to start taking your lessons today, and hopefully I can play like Elmo after buying all the guitars you recommended 🤣
I have a Cort with the same vs50II trem as the fusion and it stays in tune absolutely wonderfully, it still has the flaws of trems meaning that one string going out of tune in a new set (G ehm) causes the entire thing to go out of tune but after a few days of breaking the new strings in its perfect
Hi Mr. Elmo and thanks for the really useful video of yours! I would add the following one in your list just for the fun of it: Harley Benton Fusion-T HH HT EB OCT (269€ with locking tuners, stainless steel frets, Graptech nut, Roswell pickups that split and a hardtail bridge).
You are one of the most incredible guitarists I’ve ever watched! Thank you for rating the budget guitars for those of us who can’t buy the expensive stuff.
I've been having a good time with the Monoprice Indio as a first budget guitar. I think at this price point it's worth spending as little as possible and saving the difference towards a better guitar in the future
Good thinking - Many people have purchased guitars during these Covid times. I think there will be many good deals on lightly used guitars in the months and years to come. Looks like Elmo has sold a few.
I have 2 of the Eart Strats that I changed out the pickups and tuners. I challenge anyone to find a better playing guitar. Get one and fix the frets if you need to and you're still getting something that blows away any Fender I've ever played. They modeled a lot of their guitars around Suhr guitars and have become my favorite guitars mainly from a playability standpoint. They just play and feel unreal.
Great video 🙂 Very informative 🙂 Truth is, most guitars costing under $300 ( sometimes more ) will require a complete fret leveling... Most of the guitars in my collection are affordable guitars and every time I'll do a fret leveling plus other things and mods according to my personal taste... But it's true that Harley Benton has come a LONG way since the 2000's... Back then their guitars were so terrible it used to be a joke among us guitar players 😄😄😄 I own 8 so far and I am wowed... Again, great video 🙂🙂🙂
Thanks, Elmo, your playing on the Eart really woke up my neighbors! 🙂 Excellent playing and the guitar really held up nicely. I own 4 Earts and they are some of the smoothest playing instruments I have played. Thanks for torturing your fingers on guitar shaped objects, so that we don't have to. Play on! \m/
I have the original Ibanez SA260 that was made strictly for the Japanese market but outsourced to Korea. Well, it has a 3 piece neck + the fretboard, its trem bar is a much more advanced one, and the frame around the bridge pup is rectangular, not this weirdo cut corner shape. This new Chinese one is a much cheaper version.
My Eart SSS is unbelievable! Best guitar I have ever owned. When I decided to get serious about guitar, I bought a Fender for 1,500.00. I was proud until about a month later when a friend of mine was playing a solo.....He noticed right away something very wrong.....I was not at the stage in my playing to even think about playing the upper register.........to find the neck was twisted along with some fret issues. I could not return it and swore I would never pay that much again and actually built myself one. Until the Eart, my DIY was my favorite. I wish Eart the best as I cannot believe the attention to detail, down to the embossed logo on the injection molded foam shipping case.
Hi Elmo, love your reviews. What do you think of the Ibanez rg421pa or rg421ahm compared to the Harley Benton fusion III HSH Roasted? Ever reviewed this one? Grts from Belgium

HB are really good guitars (if you are not unlucky). Got a pair of them in the "gothic-ish" serie, a TE-20 HH SBK and a MB-4 SBK Deluxe (MM Bass). I really love them a lot. I still have more expensive ones but these HB are really enjoyable to play and inspiring. Forget the price tag, just play them. Thanks for this great vid !
Agreed. They are quite good. I have an ST-20 HH SBK which is the cheapest of all my guitars. Funnily enough, I play the HB the most (granted, I did mod the sh!t out of it). I've had about 5-6 HB's and none of them were bad. Like you said, forget the price tag and just play them ! -Edit The HB TE-52 wasn't great.
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks, Elmo ! I think you had the trem version, though. I have the one with a Hipshot style (now real Hipshot) bridge. Was the trem the reason you didn't much like the ST-20 ?
@@MrPolevaulter Interesting. Goes to show how hit or miss they can be at that price, I guess. Mine is great (for what it is). However, the only thing that is stock on it now is the body and the neck. Frets ends were bad, though. And frets finish too. They were really scratchy. Thank you for your reply ! Have a good one !
Hiya Elmo! I'd never heard of HB until just recently. Any experience with their RB-414CS bass? It's a Ricky copy that goes for about $300 I was thinking about picking up and eventually modding the hell out of it. From what I've gathered so far, the nut is a skyscraper and the bridge is terrible, but those would be pretty easy to upgrade for openers.
Hi Elmo i must had gotten the itch after seeing your Benton Red specialish guitar. Bought an old Burns Red Special! needs some work but it is 17 odd years old.
Did you do a setup on any of these? A quick check of the relief and adjusting the action should make the first 2 "avoid" guitars playable. Can't really help with the broken trem on the 3rd. Also like you mentioned, buying used is always a great option for cheap guitars. I got a Schecter Damien 6 from a pawn shop for $80. Guitar Center often has Squier Affinity Strats for $80 too.
I enjoyed this video, an value your opinion, but (and there always is a but!) you do feature a lot of Harley Benton axes here. Perhaps it is simply because of your location, but I would like to have seen perhaps a Firefly, Indio, Grote, or some other newer brands making a name for themselves in the "budget" guitar market. I have a Firefly in my modest collection, and it fits quite nicely among my Les Pauls, Strats & Teles'. Anyways, nice vid, great playing and good advice! Cheers!
IMHO, if you live in Europe, Harley Bentons are unbeatable in the lower price range, simply because of the sheer variety of models they offer at low prices, combined with the consistent quality of the instruments. I have two Harley Bentons and I helped my sister buy one for her husband - all three were very cheap and very good.
I have nothing against HB, I've never played one, but I have heard mostly good things about them. I know we're spoiled here in USA at the sheer amount of instruments offered on the new and second hand markets. Out of my 9 guitars I've only bought 2 brand new, the rest were all bought used. I guess I've been lucky to not have gotten any clunkers in the bunch.
Hey! Would you consider making a review of PRS SE? The new ”affordable” stratocaster SE-version of John Mayer Silver Sky prs. Its quite expensive though😅…
Both of my guitars where purchased used their brilliant took them to my guitar tech just a normal everyday setup, I try to look for use deals, both of my guitars are Vintages V100 V6P with 3 P90's ., all with Wilkinson parts, they sound and play great, most times you can find these guitars hardly been played, that HB Tele TE-62 is insane for the price, £133 pounds here, really leaves lots of room for upgrades, I'm am pondering getting this guitar latter in the year, I want a Telecaster, but if you grade it higher than the Classic Vibe Tele well that's good enough for me :)
Wow, I actually have an Eko strat. I love it :) It was given to me for my birthday five years ago and, tbh, as far as I'm concerned, it's an excellent guitar, especially for its price. That being said, when I went to buy a better amp, I asked for the same model guitar to test it with. The guitar that the store clerk gave me had brutal fret sprout. So maybe I lucked out. Or maybe you didn't. Or maybe the fact that my sister, who can play pretty well, handpicked the guitar helped. I can't disagree with you, because I've only played two Eko strats, and even though they were the same model, the one that wasn't handpicked by the other guitarist in my family wasn't that good. Edit, because I want to add something: Sadly, the secondhand market in my country is just horrible. Way too many people try to sell their used instruments or gear at the same price they've bought them for, or even higher.
What is the name of that song u played on the Harley Benton fusion HSH Roasted? I've heard Slash play it, you, & others! To be honest, I am looking for another guitar with lock downs that plays equivalent to my dearly beloved Westone Spectrum LX which I don't have anymore. I lost everything inside our house which was stolen by my brother. My Westone spectrum lx (198mbk) made my throat tickle & made me cough when I played it! Best guitar I have ever owned. How I'd love to have it back! I must admit that i like every color guitar as long as it is black.
I know these are not on the list but are the only ones available to me for now, I'm thinking of getting either the Ibanez grgr121ex or the Harley Benton fusion III-hh eb oct. Which one do you think is better?
What's up Ellmo just bought a Eart sss standard love it why is when I read comments on not just your channel but any this guitar is better than my Friends $2000 Fender and have a$250 guitar the $250 cannot be better than $2000 the screws alone cost more it is laughable but yes the guitar of a today are great we can expect way more than when I started playing in like 83 -84 you would get something like an Epiphone or a Squier witch have came a long way Love your channel keep up the great work
Wish rock guitarist demoing t style guitars would play some early zep style licks or yardbirds. Also what was the song the licks you played after the I’ll see the light tonight licks?
Greetings from Fuenlabarada-Madrid Elmo Karjalainen!!! I would like to take this video to ask you a question. Have you tried the Jackson Adrian Smith SDX guitar? If so, what do you think about it, the one made in Indonesia that I think is the one currently being sold? Best regards.
@@MrPolevaulter Okay. I was looking through all your videos and I didn't see any about this guitar but just in case you had tried it I ventured to ask you. Thank you very much for your quick response though. And thanks for sharing your videos. Best regards.
Hey! Can you plx include a Hartwood guitar on your even morer 8 guitars video? feks Hartwood Charger, but any Hartwood would be interesting. Tnx for a great channel man.
@@MrPolevaulter Yeah, i figured since you have made videos called 8 GREAT Cheap Guitars, and 8 (More) GREAT Cheap Guitars, then the next video would be Even 8 morer great cheap guitars. I did not have the patience to wait, so i have ordered a Hartwood. very excited! :)
Have you had chance to play a Firefly guitar? If not, I would encourage you to track one or two down to try and review. They are selling really well in US
Yes. I bought a used SX Strat for £70 but I bought it as a bit of a project . I had to have the frets levelled, eventually (my friend did it for free) but really only after I changed the trem for a Wilkinson trem. I put Vanson Locking tuners on it and a Graphtec tusk nut. I liked it but then it just didn't sound right so I bought some cheap Warman Texas triple and now it's great. I actually bought a Swap ash Telecaster Maple neck, awesome guitar for the money, but if your expecting to hear a Telecaster you won't these pickup's are hot. I'm cool with that though and it's a great guitar I paid £200 for. My other Strats are a little more expensive I bought a Michael Kelly 63 Strat, and the last one I bought is the Larry Carlton FM S7 in Blue and those 2 guitars are awesome. BTW The new Ibanez Azes look Megga for the money. Harley Benton really up'd their game and I've heard great things about them. lovely to hear a guitar player who is'nt a Brand snob.
If you can, check out Artist guitars. Australian made. Idk if you can get them though if not in Australia. But they are really well made for $200-$400aud. They had a really nice black translucent semi hollow body with tremolo. But they stopped making it right before I was gonna purchase it
Update: they started making them again. I went for the Grestch g5422tg. White/gold. No more guitars for me lol. Got my dream guitar. I could afford the nice semi hollow grestch I wanted.
Would the larry carlton s7 from sire count as a cheap guitar as it is around £550 ish i would consider it a moderate level guitar but its got alot of great stuff going for it.
Kramer does not sound bad at all, for the price perfect i think. I dont recommend Ibanez for anyone, new ones are horrible, even high end series.. HB guitars needs setting up first, i use one and like it.
Hi! Could u maybe help me choosing new guitar for me? I have played guitar over 6years when i was child and i stopped playing when i was 16 i think and its been 6years now and i started playing again and i have really nice guitar (Ibanez rga42tfmz) but i could want another one. Problem to me has been that the most guitars i have found there has been too thick neck and my old guitar has nice "slim"/thin neck and those what i have found was over 800€ and my price range is 200€-450€max. And those what i have found with that thin neck has these what everyone is saying to avoid😅 So if u could help me it would be so nice!😌
Elmo is the only guy on RUclips who cautions you to look before you leap into some crappy guitar purchase! I for one am fed up with Harley Benton shills. You know the usual suspects...may the force continue to be with Elmo.
I have some harley benton guitars. I'm from Germany. And they can be really good. You just have to be a little lucky. Then you have really good materials and the guitar doesn't need to hide on stage. If you're unlucky then you're really screwed.
Elmo?? How are you?Aloha from Israel 🇮🇱 and from me too, what another ibanez you recommend to me? Here it's triple but I want more ibanez for my collection!! Must be termolo in the guitar 🎸 so? What you recommend to me? even 400$450$

Great channel. Thoughtful and humourous. Always enjoy Elmo Kara$%£^&*" ( the surname no-primate can announce). Always worth watching. Cheers buddy.
Thanks 😊
Can you give me a time stamp?
can you pls review Jackson JS Series Dinky JS12, Amaranth Fingerboard, Gloss Black
Haven't tried that one, no.
@@MrPolevaulter Okay. I was looking through all your videos and I didn't see any about this guitar but just in case you had tried it I ventured to ask you.
Thank you very much for your quick response though.
And thanks for sharing your videos.
Best regards.
Try adding the neck and is the fret board shaped, I not a big fan of the flat ones
Hey! Can you plx include a Hartwood guitar on your even morer 8 guitars video? feks Hartwood Charger, but any Hartwood would be interesting. Tnx for a great channel man.
Thanks! Well I can't really include anything in this video that isn't already there.
Har du testat eller tänker du testa G&Ls billigare modeller någon gång? Hälsningar från världsmetropolen Mietoinen..😁
Har tänkt på det och kommer nog att göra det i något skede.
Have you had chance to play a Firefly guitar? If not, I would encourage you to track one or two down to try and review. They are selling really well in US
Been meanig to.
I do recommend the Harley Benton TE-52, along with a gym subscription
:D
LOL, I've had one of those. Frickin' boat anchor and baseball bat neck. It was cool, though.
I've got one. I've gotten used to the weight but I wouldn't want to play it standing up.
You've mentioned Wilkinson about being a good quality component. Can you talk a little about Guyker hardware?
Tks!!! And Cheers from Brazil.
Don't really know anything about Guyker hardware.
@@MrPolevaulter no worries! Tks!!!
Would the larry carlton s7 from sire count as a cheap guitar as it is around £550 ish i would consider it a moderate level guitar but its got alot of great stuff going for it.
Depends. I've usually thought that a cheap guitar is something under 400€, but that might change with rising prices.
I don't know if you've noticed, but the chapter markers are completely off. Otherwise, I'm really thankful for your videos. Thanks!
1:03 Elmo, you know damn well what you wanted to originally play!😂
I love my SX strat, I play left handed and they offer many body styles for left handed guitarists. Highly recommend in my opinion.
Nice, a little bit of Gary Moore the Loner. 😉
Cheers :)
Sorry, not sure I can help. Or maybe the Jackson that I tried on the channel might be something.
I had SX strat and all I can say is that it was making nice sound just in mid-neck pickup position 😄
I want buy the ''8'' Ear Strat guitar... can u send link pls?
Just google Eart guitars. I think they don't make that model anymore though.
why is vintage v6 not included in the list. Do you have any suggestions for Stratocaster guitars in that price range?
The Vintage I tried was not very good.
@@MrPolevaulter what do you think about the ibanez AZES guitar? thanks for the answer
Can you please review the michael kelly patriot decree
Probably not. They're tough to come by in Europe.
Hey what do you think about esp ltd mh-10
Haven't tried it.
@@MrPolevaulter will you do a review of it someday
Elmo is the only guy on RUclips who cautions you to look before you leap into some crappy guitar purchase! I for one am fed up with Harley Benton shills. You know the usual suspects...may the force continue to be with Elmo.
Thanks!
The problem is that any guitar sounds great on the Karjalainen’s hands 😂. Great video for those who are searching for the first gear.
Thanks!
I have that JOYO "Tube Screamer" How do you! like it?
It was good until it broke.
Next time you could do "mid price" guitars if you like
I have some harley benton guitars. I'm from Germany. And they can be really good. You just have to be a little lucky. Then you have really good materials and the guitar doesn't need to hide on stage. If you're unlucky then you're really screwed.
the problem is that they all sound good, you have a nice set up plus you can play your arse off, its hard to really see what actually sucks.
Elmo?? How are you?Aloha from Israel 🇮🇱 and from me too, what another ibanez you recommend to me? Here it's triple but I want more ibanez for my collection!! Must be termolo in the guitar 🎸 so? What you recommend to me? even 400$450$
Maybe the JemJr. Haven't tried other Ibanez guitars in that price range.
Amazing Vid, I would not buy a new guitar, I worked in the car industry, Our Motto nver buy a new car.
Man that Schecter screams!!!!
why not ibanez rg470ahmz?
Haven't tried it.
Review yamaha Pacifica 012
Maybe at some point.
You can fix uneven Frets yourself, Get a fret file watch a couple of RUclips videos on how to do it. It is not that hard.
Hearing a fair bit of Gary Moore in there!
Huge HB fan. Totally decent guitars for $200 n for $300 plus HB clones are as good or better. Prs maybe not but the eggs lp's for sure. Rock o Elmo. U crazy La oceans
Hello Elmo!
Check the Jet guitars.
you're gonna love this things!!
I've ordered one but it hasn't arrived. No idea where it's gotten to.
Oh great!😂
I hope you get the guitar soon.
Have a good day Elmo and keep the good work!!!🎸
The great amp makes all sound good
Schecters are always good value.
You can edit a second Video out of this with the not recommended ones, something like " how to play amazing on bad guitars"
I would click the bell icon for notifications but RUclips doesn't allow that for channels marked as for kids.
It shouldn't be. I just checked my settings, and it's not marked as for kids.
The cheapest are still bad trust Elmo buy an Eart Grote or HB if u cant afford a Squier Epi or Ltd and not their entry level models either. Or the Ibanez i have a Prestige S1520 Ill never part with.
Suggestion: In the timeline, instead of titling the chapters "guitar one", "guitar two", why not put the names of the guitars there?
That way people have to actually look 😀
@@MrPolevaulter Yeah, smart. I actually liked that.
