Roel Hovius Hi Roel, I saw them on march 2012, first time they were in Uruguay. Is a pitty they haven't played here before (since their bassist and former drummer are Uruguayans) and having the opportunity of listening Mikael's growls live. We almost beg them to play old amazing songs like demon of the fall, bleak, etc. It was useless, just played clear voice songs :(

Mil gracias por tu halago, en mi sincera opinion no por gustarnos uno u otro tipo de musica debemos caer en el sinsentido de expresarnos burdamente, yo adoro el Metal en todas sus variantes y creo que eso me enriquece culturalmente respecto a quienes nos creen poco mas que hombres de las cavernas y por lo tanto siempre intento demostrarles que se puede escuchar esta maravillosa musica y saber expresarse y escribir lo mas correctamente posible. @lostinvegas83 great Opeth song for review. Off a concept album - a man, as a ghost, haunting his lover (basically the plot of the film Ghost). Last word of each song on the album is the title of the next song. Highly recommend it! His death metal growls+clean lyrics and melodies are their M.O.
Abysswatcher no he didn’t. Mikael makes the band. He writes all the material. Including the drums. Lopez played the material well but everyone in this band is interchangeable except mikael.
@@tylerjacobson8012 I was exaggerating a lil. I know Mikael writes most everything.. Lopez would get a basic direction of the percussion from Mikael I think but Martin Lopez would still play it the way he wanted, with his style, feel & nuances. It really shines through and I think everything they did after Lopez left the band is dull & boring
@@tylerjacobson8012 Just my opinion I know, but every musician can make a big difference in band, Martin played on Amon Amarth's Once sent....album & I think that was their best sound too
Abysswatcher to each his own then. I actually prefer axe. Especially on the heavier material. He’s a tighter player then Lopez. I’m coming from the standpoint of a musician to. I think people like Lopez more just because of the era of opeth he was part of. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion.
@@tylerjacobson8012 I play drums too.. Everyone has their ear & feel for music, I think Lopez is alot better & I thought Axe sounded pretty generic but I haven't gave him alot of listens to be fair
