      This video helped me learn to keep your “bead” even on each mountain! I was getting darker on one side then to light if tried in one swipe. Wish could find a pallet like one in video?

    Doing my watercolors this way (mixing my darkest) then next very light & then one with just in clean water! Couldn’t find pallet like above you so got 2, 6 deep welled” plastic one. Then got these tiny (Tupperware’s containers) with tight lids & then mix up colors & ready to use (make enough) but can sit it on my lap (necessity mother) of inventions 😊!

    This way of having your darkest color in one “deep well” then lighter then water now use (pallet well that are deeper)!
    As a beginner what darker yellow did you add to (assume not Lemon yellow) & on making the grey did you use neutral tint (if not which blue) & to darken myself would add orange (tad)?
    Keeping that bead & doing mountain sections more sideways (again keep your bead) and great teacher ty!

    • @RebelUnicornCrafts
      @RebelUnicornCrafts  9 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly which tubes I used, but for the yellows I know I liked using a yellow medium and yellow deep. Playing with the colors in mixing and then testing on the tester strip is a good way to learn your paints and how colors will combine with each other. I did a (longer) video recently that can show you more of how you can mix and readjust and talking through my process here if it helps- ruclips.net/video/gTpcGgqCa0U/видео.html

    I love your vid. New sub! Beware multi layering...size and fibers have been disturbed and may or may not hold color the same each time (please correct me if wrong). Personally I layer and have 0 problems, but I have heard it stated. Tape hack, stick to shirt or towel first to use up some of the adhesive. Oh and speaking of hills and mountains disappearing: I was shooting the sunset East and West on top of a hill right at dusk. As I turned around to shoot Mt. Hood the second or third time, it was gone! I was totally confused. Scratching my head thinking I was on LSD again I thought I was hallucinating. Nope, a trick of the light.

    Great explanations on this technique but after 5 tries I still keep getting horizontal streaks across the top section. I am using a #12 brush but I think the problem is with the quality of my paper. I have done these practice sessions with 140 lb cold press paper-academic level. I will try again with Strathmore Heavy Duty. I hope that will resolve the problem. Thank you for the great explanations.

    • @RebelUnicornCrafts
      @RebelUnicornCrafts  4 года назад

      Hi! Yes, the lines can be really tricky. I think you might be right about the paper. My favorite more budget friendly paper is Canson www.dickblick.com/products/canson-xl-watercolor-pads
      I actually have trouble with Strathmore sometimes, but that's personal preference.
      A few other things to consider. Maybe try pre-wetting your paper and letting the water soak in almost all the way before, sometimes this helps with the transition. The other is the color your using. Some colors are staining and more prone to streaking. You could try a different color for the background and see if it helps.
      Good luck! You've got this!

    • @richardholub3302
      @richardholub3302 4 года назад

      @@RebelUnicornCrafts I actually had to restart your video to make sure you were not painting wet-on-wet. I was noticing that by the time I dragged the paintbrush 3/4 of the way across the paper the brush was dry. I kept on wetting the brush but it was not working for me. I will try wet-on-wet, I will try the sheet blocks that I have from Strathmore and I will also buy some Canson to experiment with. The last time that I did any type of painting was around 50 years ago, I never did use watercolor, only oil. With oil, if I made a mistake, I would just paint over it. With watercolor, I am learning a whole new way of painting (light to dark, translucence, etc.).

      @@richardholub3302 Ahhh, yes, I should have clarified. I don't usually unless I am doing something like flowy sunsets or galaxies, but it can help when getting started or working with stubborn paints/paper.

    Which blue (mute w orange) would work well over the gradient? As a beginner not sure but feel Prussian leans to green & still trying to learn these glazes. Ty.

    • @RebelUnicornCrafts
      @RebelUnicornCrafts  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you have a Venetian Red, that would be nice with the Prussian blue, but use a testing strip to see if oranges in your palette do what you'd like to get the effect you're looking for if you don't have the Venetian Red.

    Could you tell me where to find a pallet like the one your are using?
    It’s easier to have big wells & then one of plain water but trying to use a regular pallet on my lap & feel makes it harder to know pigment ratio’s & use pipette. Ty.
