I love Obamacare, without it I would be in major debt right now. When I was 25 I didn't have insurance, and out of no where I was suddenly hit with terrible pain, and diagnosed with Lupus. For the first couple of doctor visits I had to pay out of pocket, and by the time I got Obamacare I had nearly spent all the money I had. My insurance covers the cost of all my doctor visits and my meds, which allowed me to rebuild my finances. In this case I agree with mandatory insurance because anyone (young or old) can be hit by the unexpected at any moment. Plus, if you have affordable health insurance you are more likely to go visit your doctor if something might be wrong, and prevent anything devastating.
Its heartbreaking to hear that you don't have free healthcare. Im an Australian and every Aussie citizen has medicare. We have affordable medications and its cheaper if you have a disability or are a student. Ive always thought healthcare is a right to have access to. Just like we all have the right to: education, fire brigade, law enforcement, libraries, etc.
Plus every Australian has to vote in every election. I think that if that was the same in the US, I honestly think that Trump would never have been president and you would be slowly getting that healthcare and rights for all citizens.

I had Obamacare at a very crucial time. Long story short, I lost my left arm. I had top notch medical care at one of the best hospitals in California. I spent nearly two years in the hospital for seven amputations. My longest single stay was over 100 days. After so long in hospital, I had an in-home nurse that came three times a week. In-home physical therapy. And heaps of prescriptions (one particular medication was $10,000 for a three week course of treatment. Thanks to Obamacare all of this cost me nothing. Not even a co-pay for prescriptions. If not for Obamacare I would have died.

@william rivera He claims he's a billionaire...hard to prove cause he won't show us his tax returns. However, it is very well documented and just plain fact that he has bankrupted all of his companies and has ripped off countless contractors and just people in general. Both trump univ. and the trump foundation were proven to be flat out frauds that were literally stealing money from regular americans. Just look at the 2017 tax legislation. That was one of the biggest tax-cuts in our history and went almost entirely to the super-rich and wealthy corporations. And once again, you have provided no evidence or facts to support anything you say. Please give an example of just one thing trump has done to benefit regular working-class people.
@william rivera He may be a billionaire, I couldn't care less, point is we will never know cause he won't show his taxes and it has nothing to do with his rights, he knows he's a crook and his taxes show it. Still doesn't answer the question of what has he actually done for anybody but himself?
Hospitals don't have to see anyone in an Emergency Room. I took my son one time when he didnt have insurance and he was turned away. We need Medicare for all yesterday!
The amount of ignorance of these people is astounding. Right now the biggest issue in the US is ignorance. And not just under educated, but self imposed. The worst kind of ignorance is people that just do not want to know the facts.
But they do know the facts..... The facts that are placed in front of them out of the articulate, wise and irrefutable mouth of 45 and his sycophants. I shiver in anticipation of the next set of (alternative) facts submitted for our approval.
As a Canadian I have to say that although our system isn’t perfect, it’s definitely better than the US. I cannot imagine having to pay out of pocket for going to the hospital or the doctor
I’m a nurse in the the uk in our NHS, everyone pays into this depending on how much they earn. But then rich or poor everyone gets the health care they need. I wouldn’t swap our NHS for any other systems .
Brit here - completely agree. My Dad was driven into when he was on his bike by a driver who ignored a “no right turn” road sign. They took him to a private hospital where he received NHS treatment, but before he told them he was NHS, the very first question asked was “what’s your credit card number?” I can’t believe there are people who think profit is more important than health.
The NHS saved my life on three separate occasions, saved my mother’s life, my sisters life, two of my cousins and two of my nephews. All of us survived and will contribute an entire lifetimes worth of tax into the system to help indirectly save the next load of tax payers lives. It’s morally and financially right to have a free at the point of delivery healthcare system.
@@thomasweir2834 You are fortunate. Here in the US health care is a lucrative business. If you watched the series Breaking Bad, as a Brit, you probably couldn’t relate. I said when I watched the series that the show could not happen anywhere where people had a national health system. The political right tries to brain wash people here by telling them that the Brits hate their health coverage.
As a Canadian I can say the system Americans have is insane. Knowone in the rest of the Western world would trade their Medicare system for that craziness.
I live in a social democracy, Australia. We have universal healthcare. Of course it isn’t perfect but people won’t go broke getting medical care. My husband and I would be considered upper middle class, we do not consider ourselves cheated that our taxes go towards a welfare system and healthcare. We’re glad to do our part for our fellow Australians. The American attitude toward social programs that benefit society is baffling.
USA is a pure capitalist economy built on investment shares (you are on your own) and rest of the world is social capitalist /government regulated economy which means fairness. .
Before 1973 it was illegal in the US to profit from health insurance. The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 passed by Nixon gave us this mess. Nixon determined that middle men could profit by giving people less care. “Not bad” he said about the scheme. It’s recorded on his tape.
Rainhut Thanks for sharing that. I didn’t realize he initiated this mess. Any ethical empathetic human being should believe that healthcare is a human right.
I take home about 50% of what I make between taxes and Healthcare. In Europe I would take home at least 60% and that would include healthcare and college tuition for my son. We are fools for not pushing for Medicare for all.
It depends how much u make a month. If ur paycheck is 4000€ without taxes and with taxes it’s about 3800€-3700€ so it’s not that much and it goes for good causes. Also u can get housing by the goverment if u aren’t able to pay rent. At least in Finland.
Reality catches up when people get sick. I have been sick my whole life so yeah I think we need health care. But until others get sick they don't really understand.
Absolutely! As a physician who has tried numerous times to inform patients how insurance companies dictate their medical care. How they aren't prevention minded, and hamstring doctors caring for their patients. And not constantly treating to the shit standards of the insurance industry. They often just don't get it. They are often trump supporters. Unfortunately, I often have difficulty treating them because they are cult like in support of donny, and refuse to be educated about healthcare, and how it works. It is a real problem.
Trump said everyone is going to be covered beautifully and that the government is going to pay for it. Why aren't his voters holding him accountable to his campaign promise?
If you go to Mexico and are in a car accident and must go to the hospital, the hospital will treat your injuries and will not send you a bill. Are THEY crazy or are WE just more cruel than Mexico?
The guy in the MAGA hat has it all wrong. If we expanded Medicare for all, it would actually save everyone a shit-ton of money... it’s not going to “hijack” it and take it away from those who have it now. The guy is just a stupid idiot, like many Trumpsters.
I have Obamacare and if I didn't have Obamacare I wouldn't be living the life I have now because I was a heroin addict for 6 years and now I've been clean for about 2 and 1/2 years and without that care I wouldn't be able to pay for my Rehabilitation programs. Obamacare really saved my life when I had nothing n no one to help me.
To be fair, King had something about that in some of his speeches. He has a whole thing where he was in jail and explaining to the sheriff how he, the sheriff, was a victim too. A lot of that stuff was simply derided as communism, which is why is gets called a communist by the Right. Pretty sure that sheriff was in Georgia actually, but been years.
Reginald morton, I have never voted against my interest. Maybe you do. The ACA was a democratic party idea turned into law. It was the greatest tax increase to the middle class Americans. I also do not believe in the right to kill the innocent just because you don't want them.

That last woman had it coming. She was benefiting from obamacare and then voted for Trump? What did she think would happen?! Also the thing I don't respect is the fact that she only regrets her vote because it affected her personally, she's still not seeing the bigger picture, this way of thinking is what made her a trump supporter in the first place.
You mention about her only caring because it affected her personally but thats what the majority of people do now . Society on the whole has become very self centered with personal greed and wants pushing aside anything else
The only reason that lady was upset was that she was personally effected by Trump's policy. Otherwise I'm guessing she would be like all the other people on the march.

I still find it mind blowing that the USA still does not provide health care for everyone rich or poor . They are the richest country on earth but stubbornly can't work out that every other first wold country takes part of their citizens taxes and puts it towards healthcare for everyone. If you are rich you can pay for private healthcare on top which gets you seen quicker. Again the USA would consider itself an one of the most humane countries on earth but does not even give it's citizens the human right of healthcare for all . But of course if it was introduced it would mean insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies would have less money to give there shareholders in bonuses. It's not a radical idea and the UK has been doing healthcare for all for 70 years our system is not perfect but it works
The typical american is poorly educated and misinformed. Trump voters were (are?) conditioned to think that they are better than the rest of the world regardless of what actual reality is. They have been taught to hate the rest of the world, to think of the rest of the world as second-class. At the same time they look around and see that their country has more problems than they can fix. This is why they'll stand up and support policies that go against their own self-interest so long as they can feel superior for a moment.
Trump voter: "I'm miserable and I want other people to be miserable too." The lady at the end, "I didn't know he was going to hurt me. I thought he was just going to hurt other people. He's a bad man."
Classic shitheads the lot of them are. They're content with not solving their own problems so long as there's someone worse off than them that would make them feel "superior".
The sad part is that it started out as Trump voters, but now ignorance is the basic currency regardless of your politics, maybe it always was and it has just now been illuminated. Take an example from this clip, the lady on the left said that calling Obamacare 'the work of the devil' was speaking in code. That's ridiculous, utter fear-mongering nonsense. Stupidity exists everywhere. I might be a misanthrope but my experience continuously reinforces that all people are abhorrently ignorant and unwilling to learn.
keely_cn ……… The lady at least woke up . So scary that it takes LOSING something to spark it . Ones like her that finally recognize that they were conned are among the most vocal, though. We need more to wake up !
Ana, you nailed it on the head when you mentioned that undocumented immigrants have access to the emergency room, which is the most expensive care you can find. It's insane that we don't want to even entertain providing these immigrants with a less expensive option. Also, we forget that these immigrants pay taxes on every dollar that they make through sales taxes and property taxes via their landlords. Nobody, and I mean nobody is getting a free ride like the these Trumpers think.
As a retired Canadian doctor, the American attitude towards universal access to health care baffles me. When I wprked in ER I'd get letters from US head hunters at least 2 or 3 times a month. They all went in the round file. I'd never be able to work in the American system. Frankly, I'm not sure it's even ethical.
It's not. I live in New Hampshire, a state on the border with French Canada. People here regularly make 18 hour trips into Canada just to get their prescriptions every month- they can't afford it otherwise. I survived an attempted murder 10 years ago with a mild spine injury and a severe pain disorder that left me completely disabled and unable to work. I also have a compromised immune system thanks to a T-cell defect, my T-cell count is 40. I get under 10k a year in disability, and I can't make more money than that or I lose Medicaid (health care for the extremely poor, you have to be 30% under the national poverty level- you don't automatically get it if you're poor or lose your job). I sew to make ends meet. I just tested positive for covid-19 and I'm absolutely terrified
I don't know how sales tax and paycheck level taxation works in the states. But here in Canada, anyone, regardless if they're a citizen or not, is paying taxes whenever they buy anything, or have money taken off of their paychecks for income tax. These taxes pay for police, military, fire departments, education, HEALTHCARE!!, federal and provincial government, city government. ...so called "illegals" are paying for the same stuff that citizens do. Amazing, no? I guess it's different in the states.
You can add a lot of countries to that list, even countries that are part of the third world. It's really crazy that americans still think that they are the greatest country in the world when probably they are last in the developed democratic world.
Marks Higgerson, I pose this question to everyone especially the so called CON-servatives. I gather the car is valued over health. What a CON job on the brain!
That's just not true. If you are in a major metropolitan city and dont own a car noone is forcing you to give your money to the Car Insurance industry. If you choose to drive a car, then yes you have to purchase automobile insurance. One is a condition required to drive and the other is a condition required to exist.
Australia, where you can call an after hours doctor for a home visit FREE!.Our health care costs HALF what the US pays and is better in every way possible .Prescriptions have a safety net too which cuts in after a set limit then its free as are doctor visits and hospitals.Even our private health care costs a fraction you pay in the US and gives better service.Heck if your poor here you can access free dental care plus all children get yearly dental vouchers and school dental visits.
You have diabetes, you have black lung, you're in bad shape, you don't have healthcare but here you are fighting against universal health care. I mean you can't make this up 😂😂😂
Then why did he vote for Trump? Trump's plans were to revert everything Obama has done. Politicians who use such a thing as a 'program' won't amount to anything useful. And look: Trump hasn't done anything useful yet.
I have two sister in Texas, under Affordable Care Act( Obamacare), they are absolutely happy 😊 with the attention that they received , they never had health insurance before.
In my country we pay 8 dollars to see a doctor and medicine is very affordable. And you cant pay more than 100 dollars/year(for both normal hospital visits and therapy and such) because then the government steps in so you dont go bankrupt.
And if they disagree it's automatically "fake news". You know I'm really impressed that trump created that phrase all on his very own. Gosh he really does have the best words.
Because he has made things so crazy, it's almost irrelevant. He could vacation 365 days a year and his base would say he is doing it to make America great again. Just another headline for a day that fades away with the next cycle of craziness.
Hasn't every incumbent president received Secret Service protection during the election cycle while they are President? I think you maybe be a bit off on this one.

What was health Insurance like before Obamacare? Private Insurance! But it came with pre-existing condition violations. So if you were sick and applied for insurance, you were denied. Where did those people go? To the ER with no insurance!
DJ, what was health insurance before ACA? It was about 540 dollars a year. It is now 15K a year. Most stocks with insurance companies was at 38 dollars a share. The ACA immediately approved the insurance companies went from 38 dollars to 200 dollars a share. It now at almost 700 dollars a share. Just taxing the middle class Americans and giving it the rich.
All I care about is getting my money. Nobody cares about what Obama and Trump did or does. If they cut Social Security I want my money. Its just that simple
In the UK we have the NHS that gives all permanent residents full access to healthcare which is free at the point of use. We pay National Insurance contributions that are a tax that pays for the NHS and it costs us roughly half of what Americans pay for their healthcare (form tax and private insurance contributions). The only extras we pay for are dentistry and prescriptions (which cost a flat rate of £9.65 per item) and children, pregnant women and pensioners don't even pay for prescriptions (also free for all in Wales and Scotland). It seems strange that politicians on the American right wing condemn the NHS as "socialist" whatever that means, but do nothing about the spiraling cost in the US and seem ambivalent about the fact that many millions of US citzens have no access to healthcare at all.
Hats off to the lady with the cowboy hat, for showing character and openly admitting that she had changed her mind.....and really.....please take that hat off.^^
I live in the south, and it astonishes me how the older generation talk about not wanting to change the system, as if social security and medicare will always be around. Baffles me how in the information age that some people can be so out of touch. If my Grandfather can learn the internet, so can you.

The same reason why they'd give their last dollar to a pastor who has 2 private jets yet swears he needs a 3rd. Ignorance and blind faith in con artists.
Just to correct you all, everyone pays taxes! When you buy anything you pay taxes, it might not be federal taxes, but you pay taxes. Second the people that work illegally might not have good social security, but still pay into the system b/c they get taxes taken out just like everyone else, the sad part about is that at the end of the year they are not eligible for a refund.
In England we pay a bit more tax but we do not have to pay for anything medical. That is for any age from birth to whenever a person dies. We pay nothing for operations or anything else. It is a wonderful service. We pay for prescriptions up to retiring age then they are free. Children have free prescriptions too and also dental care comes under free for children under 16.

@william rivera wrong chat?
Btw illegal immigrants do pay taxes, and I would know
Yeah, so many people are so misinformed and really believe anything they're told! I truly feel for you and really try and spread the word! 🌊💙🙏🇺🇸
I shiver in anticipation of the next set of (alternative) facts submitted for our approval.
srgreeniii yes. Willfully ignorant. Refusing to see facts that are clear if they’d just open their minds and let it sink in.
We need better schools
As a Canadian I have to say that although our system isn’t perfect, it’s definitely better than the US. I cannot imagine having to pay out of pocket for going to the hospital or the doctor
Canada has Universal Healthcare. Abortion is not illegal, & homosexuality is not a crime.
Grow Up America.
Nearly all of Europe too
Our Healthcare isn’t perfect but at least we are ALL insured 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️
Why is knowing things so hard for people. How long can it really take to learn the basics of how medicare works. It's sad really.
Because some people like being ignorant. And if you notice they put up the hardest argument.
They probably think it's a commie plot
Yasss! Greetings from Germany
Same here in Canada
Is not baffing is called stupidity.
Canada has the same setup.
Not all states think like that. California provides social services because of the higher tax rate they have.
USA is a pure capitalist economy built on investment shares (you are on your own) and rest of the world is social capitalist /government regulated economy which means fairness. .
meanwhile Trump said in the campaign trail he will destroy Obamacare and you still voted for him. what you do that's what you get
Before 1973 it was illegal in the US to profit from health insurance.
That's exactly why my country has free healthcare. It could be your kid that needs it.
I’m always heartened when I find stories where trump voters get screwed and realize it.
Lets hope that number continues to grow
Trump said everyone is going to be covered beautifully and that the government is going to pay for it. Why aren't his voters holding him accountable to his campaign promise?
Because Trump supporters are too stupid to understand this simple fact.
If you go to Mexico and are in a car accident and must go to the hospital, the hospital will treat your injuries and will not send you a bill.
Are THEY crazy or are WE just more cruel than Mexico?
Kids in cages proves we are more cruel.
Sadly, I think you know the answer

I was born in Georgia and I am soo happy finally someone is putting the spot light on the stupid rednicks who actively vote against their interest.
From 12% to 25% thru forcing people to pay for insurance while the millionaire and congressional people get subsidies.

Thank you TYT for being brilliant. I am a social statistician and I frequently encounter ignorance based on the generally uninformed public.
If you are not rich you don't matter here.
Corruption, incompetence and power hungry leaders.
I use to laugh at trump supporters but now I feel sorry for them. Dont get me wrong I know their delusional but its sad.
As is always the case, it's the difference between what the educated know, and what the uneducated think they know.....
Our tax dollars are enriching Trump.
Trump voter: "I'm miserable and I want other people to be miserable too." The lady at the end, "I didn't know he was going to hurt me. I thought he was just going to hurt other people. He's a bad man."
That is the ultimate Trump mentality. They reap what they sow.
Classic shitheads the lot of them are.
They're content with not solving their own problems so long as there's someone worse off than them that would make them feel "superior".
Pretty common theme
Single payer system for basic care is badly needed in the US. You pay way too much for your health insurance.
We also lead the world in medical innovation.
@@MissSpaz Damn, that sounds awful. I hope you can recover from it without much issues :(
I don't know how sales tax and paycheck level taxation works in the states.
It's the same except the government is skimming off the top.
Nope. Immigrants pay taxes on America too their just made to look like they don't in the media

The ACA immediately approved the insurance companies went from 38 dollars to 200 dollars a share. It now at almost 700 dollars a share. Just taxing the middle class Americans and giving it the rich.

That lady in the last clip got me a bit emotional. You could hear the fear, anger, and pain in her voice.
They just don’t understand.

Hate seeing the people of America getting “rolled” by this Republican conman.
Canada got free health care for all.
AND we pay less then they do!!! Embarrasingly FAR FAR less!!! How can they logically think paying a profit driven middleman (insurance) AND having a profit driven healthcare industry makes it MORE affordable!?!? Come on America!!! Fix your shit!!!! A buddy from Kentucky (who makes far less money) and I compared paystubs years back and he's been trying to immigrate here ever since. His taxes were three times as much on 2/3rd as much pay!!!! They deserve it!! you know who they vote for in Kentucky!!! No sympathy, morons!
I live in Canada...I find it interesting that nobody up here ever has a conversation about health care costs other than paying for prescriptions.
