    Hello, thank you for the plugin. It's amazing... I have one question:
    Can we scale a whole group of Curves without distorting them?

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  29 дней назад

      Hello! When you scale the curves, you only scale... well curves. The geometry attached to them will not scale, so you will have to additionally go to the Curve Control Menu and adjust the Width slider. Other than that, you can just select a bunch of curves and manipulate them with scale gizmo. It's better to scale CVs themselves, not just curves (basically scale stuff in component mode, not in object mode).

    Thank you very much for your awesome plugin! Please tell me, is it possible to enlarge and lengthen the card so that the hair texture itself is not stretched? I just have curls that stretch and they stop being curls

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  27 дней назад +1

      Hi!
      Not sure I understand you correctly. You wish to lengthen the card (the mesh), but the texture should stay with the same proportions as before?
      I don't think this is possible at the moment. However, if you want a fixed length card (and fixed size texture as a result) on a variable length curve you can use "Unlock" and "Length" slider to achieve this:
      gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/attributes.html#main-attributes
      gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/_images/length_unlock.gif

    Hi there! the tool has the ability to modify the offset subdivisions from the geometry card ? I mean, for example more subdivisions from de root and less on the tip. Thanks!

      Hi. No, currently it is not possible to have variable density of the mesh along the curve.

    what is the shortcut for selecting CV

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  2 месяца назад

      You can either use the "Select CVs" slider, or you can go to component mode, select any CV on the curve and press "Up" or "Down" arrow on the keyboard to move between the CVs.
      Enabling the Advanced Visibility mode helps as well:

    i am new to using the plugin i am trying to use hair cards for beard. and i am currently struggling with the scaling of hair cards

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  4 месяца назад

      If your cards are too big or too small, you can use the "Scale Factor" in the "Scale Factor and Precision" window:
      gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/scale-factor-and-precision.html
      It will change the initial scale of the card (or tube) based on the Scale Factor value. Only new cards will have this change, but you can change the scale factor on the original cards by using "Normalize Selected" button.

    Hey George! I've been using the tool and its been amazing. I was wondering though, if there is a way to move selected curves to another layer or to duplicate curves into a selected layer as opposed to the layer it already exists in. I made an atlas of hair cards in the J layer and have been trying to duplicate and move the cards that I wanted to use into the numbered layers. It seems when I MMB drag though, it moves/copies the whole layer rather than just the selected curves. Maybe my idea of the workflow is wrong or I missed a function that you explained?

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  6 месяцев назад

      Hi. You can move any selected curves to any layer. Just select the curve (or multiple curves) and hold RMB on the layer you wish to transfer them to. There, you will find "Add selection to Layer". Layers are exclusive, so no curve can be in two layers at once.
      You can read more about layers here:
      gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/layers.html#layer-controls
      Duplication will always be to the same layer the curve exists in, but you can transfer them to any layer you wish using the function described above.
      As an alternative, you can change layers of the selected curves using a dropdown menu in the Curve Control Window. It's at the top-left corner of the menu (numbers and letters). Just scroll your mouse, or click on the menu and select the layer you wish to transfer the curves to:
      gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/first-steps.html#curve-control-window

      I forgot to mention the marking menu in the first "Layers" chapter, but you can see how I use it in the "Collections" chapter:

      The braid is just three Maya curves in the shape of a braid:

      You can do that manually, or just check my discord and download that shape:

    Is it possible to import alembic hair curves in Maya with this tool? As maya is absolutely disaster importing alembic curves. And freezes right when you want to do that. In Blender it takes less than a second to import and edit alembic curves. Somehow Maya want to separate every curve in different object.

    • @GeorgeSladkovsky
      @GeorgeSladkovsky  5 месяцев назад

      Hi. No, this tool is not meant to import alembic hair curves. If Maya can't handle it, this tool will not help you, unfortunately.

      @@GeorgeSladkovsky Sad :( found only workaround with houdini converting curves to card geometry and then Maya can handle it as polygons. Anyway, thanks for a quick response!
