I can't thank you enough for this video. My host has a "1-click install" for Drupal 8 that failed miserably. After 3 attempts with different errors, I called support to have them install it for me. When I logged in, all seemed well, but when I clicked ANY of the tools, it broke - firing off a "500 Internal Server Error" log. Eeh, now what? Well, I do it myself the 'old fashioned' way. THIS TIME, with your guidance, it actually worked! Thank you so much!!!
i wish you explained the cpanel part , i think it would have been better if you had said that we need to choose our own hosting site and explain that which you chose. because you just jumped straight into cpanel i think many of us were confused.
For developers who would like to manage their own PHP ini settings talked about here - 1:15, can we create our own .ini file as an override, and add the appropriate settings to it, and place that file in our Drupal environment somewhere?
Hello and thanks for the video - At time 1:12 the slide shows magic quotes etc to be turned ON, but the audio says they must be turned OFF. Which is correct?
Note that drupal.org/requirements gives you requirements for drupal 7. Drupal 8 requirements are found at: www.drupal.org/docs/8/system-requirements/web-server
I've seen many comments asking for cpanel, and you tell them that it depends on your host, ok, but we've never even heard about cpanel or hosts until this episode, and I'm not sure if I have to go to cpanel.com or what, there's no link or anything
cpanel (control panel) is in your web hosting. A lot of web hosts use cPanel... hostGator, goDaddy... bluehost... most of the time it would be your url forward slash cpanel... for example... mywebsite.com/cpanel
@@christianmcdermott6619 can i use drupal on some free web hosting sites like cp1.runhosting.com/beta/ ? thank you, it's my first time or rather i say, i'm just starting to read drupal.
When you purchase web hosting from a company they (usually) provide access to cpanel - log into your web hosting company, and find cpanel - else email your web hosting company and ask them how to access cpanel. I use krystal.co.uk (web hosting) and they have cpanel.
your hosting providers should give you the authentication credentials: link, user, password. Usually www.yourdomain.com/cpanel redirects you automatically to cpanel.
This is ridiculous. CPanel is recommended to run on a Linux system. Further, none of this is explained. Wtf. I've got an idea - let's get as many people as possible to get galactically pissed off prior to even starting to use Drupal. Using Cpanel should be explained as part of a dedicated 2- or 3-part series (at least). Otherwise you'll get confused comments like those below.
If only there was a 2-or-3 part series to help you out, right? ruclips.net/p/PLtaXuX0nEZk99zgSc19Li8EsM9jkicDQj (PS. check the big blue box on the video)

Where is this control panel located?
Hi Tetractys. That very much depends on your host, but is often at /cpanel/

What do you click on when you say "go to your website" at 5:27?
Hi Cooper,
He is going to another tab to demonstrate installation.
You can create live demos here simplytest.me/
Thanks
Daniel
Yes, but what is the URL in that tab?
Same question how to enter the site?
Same question how to enter the site?

That depends on your hosting company,, but is often at /cpanel/
And what do you do if you chose a zip file?
Hi. Can you use Drupal with OrientDB? If so, do you have a reference that I can look to?
Hi Miguel. No, I'm afraid not.
can you please tell me how to go to control panel? (where should I login?)
That very much depends on your host, but is often at /cpanel/
-and, why did you make it so much of a leap to get to the control panel?

i can't see the c panel.. where can i find it?
Hi Vic. Please ask your hosting company
how do you get to the control panel, cpanel please?
All you need to do is login
Do you mean login to cpanel.com/?
It's confusing because it didn't come up in previous tutorials.
Thank you.

where is the cpanel?
cPanel is part of your webhosting... usually is something like "yourwebsite.com/cpanel"

Hello I could not find cpanel on Windows 10 installation. Can you please guide me? Thanks
how i find the cpanel ? please
cPanel is attached to your host's dashboard it is not a part of drupal.
is it necessary to get a host to have this course ?
Hi abdelrahman,
No, you can use a localhost setup.
Several good options are available drupalvm, bitnami druapl stack, acquai devdesktop
Thanks
Daniel
