In the big triangular room beneath the skylight, there used to be a sunken floor a couple of steps down and a tall fountain. It was the highlight of the entire mall for me. I miss it, but I miss even more having the extra money to justify being there in the first place. It's the only mall within two hours' driving distance.
I remember that! I didn’t feature it as I couldn’t retrieve any good photos of it, and though I was just mis-remembering, but I do recall the big fountain!⛲️
Great memories. I remember throwing my coins in the fountain, wishing for a Pogo-ball. Looking through the CDs for new music. I choked on my steak at Garfields before prom dinner. Lol, good times. Even worked on the dock at Famous Barr for a Christmas season.i hope the work being done on it brings it back to some of its original magic
this is my mall, havnt been there in a couple years. in the 90s as a kid it was magical during christmas. I still vividly remember the giant christmas decorations hanging from the ceiling. also Kaybees toys! both Old Navy and Steve and Barrys were huge deals in this area! This mall actually killed the River Birch Mall in Sikeston
@@mcren6781 its actually been pretty nice last couple times ive been. also the new editions that are coming should make a huge impact especially with ross and michaels!
Man, we had an arcade (Tilt) FYE, KB Toys, Babbages and EB Games, Buckle just moved stores, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister........ There used to be so much there. I loved going there for field trips with my friends
I grew up going to this mall in the 90s and 2000s. You should have seen it in its prime! There were giant steps in the center with a huge fountain below surface level. There used to be an awesome movie theater too! It breaks my hear to see it so empty!
Wow, what perfect timing that this channel popped into my feed. I always stop in Cape Girardeau for gas on the way to AL on road trips. I'm planning to drive the 2 hours to CG on a daytrip and wanted to stop at that mall. New Sub!
Thanks for posting this. I used to work at this mall. Also, this mall had one of the very last Burger Chef restaurants in the 1990s, and a Venture store. The Camelot Music here had a great selection and was a lot of fun to browse. The movie theater was called West Park 4 Cine.
I went there alot in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember venture, tilt, and used to go to Camelot music every chance i got.
This is my childhood mall. They are supposed to be doing a lot of renovations soon. Thanks for sharing.

Funny story I fell in that fountain when I was a little kid like 4 or 5 years old!

I remember playing video games at the Goldmine arcade, eating at York steakhouse, and when Macy’s was Famous Barr.

They're under a lot of renovation last I saw. I love this mall.
Yea Cape Girardeau! My town!
I like how the closed Macy's sign recommends driving100 miles to reach the nearest Macy's

Haven't been there in years I wasn't even sure if this mall was still open
Went there just this week. The renovations so far look good.
Good ol West Park Mall. There isn't really much to, but it's still fun to go from time to time. Hope the rennovations go over well!
