    I also have a base C6 and by the time I did my upgrade from brakes, exhaust, suspension, and body kit I was better off buying a C6 Grand Sport or a Z06. But I must admit, I had fun doing it.

      So tru my friend. Problem is, if I spend the $30k+ for a z06 upfront, I wouldn’t beat on it the way I do with this one. After the engine build and wide body, I definitely would have been better on starting with a z06. Live and learn but I love this car, and honestly plenty of power. We dynoed 508whp out of that little ls3. Next on the list is suspension and brakes. I was planning on the stock z06 brakes and the BC coil overs. Is that what you did? I’m open to suggestions. Thanks for watching!

      Yes sir, I've been very impressed with the set. Stay tuned, I just picked up some new z06 wheels with the proper backspacing to fill in the fenders properly. If you are going from a base model, you def will need some wider wheels. I took some footage from today and should have a new video up in the next couple days. If you go through J&D Corvette, ask for Tony, he helped me out a ton on knowing what all components I needed. Cheers!

      @@Portillo2009 SICK, wish I had a z06 but this one has been a great car for what it is (ls3). I pulled the motor a couple years ago and did a basic build on it, dyno 508whp. Cant imagine how much power the LS7 would have had if I did the same work on one. You would be in an awesome position to swap the fenders with the zr1, no need to buy any of the liners, wheels, bumper, etc. Just the fenders then separately the scoop inserts. No instagram for me, if you subscribe to the youtube channel, ill for sure be keeping up with the build at least a couple times a month. Thanks again for checking it out!

    • @beurownboss1554
      @beurownboss1554  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks! I just added a washer behind where the bolt goes through in a couple different areas and that spaced it out perfectly. If I remember right, I ended up putting a washer behind the screw hole of the mid section where the vents are, one at the top mount closest to the windshield, and one at the bottom. Each car will be slightly different so try out a washer where you see the gap off, maybe even double stack a washer if it needs more. Cheers!

I bought some abs plastic sheeting and extended the front liners by the inch that was missing. Cheers brother!

    Hi. I have a base ls3 and am looking at doing the wide body conversion as well.
    I see a few comments about a fender liner and it needing to be extended. I didn’t see a modification to the fender liner in this video. Can you please elaborate?

    • @beurownboss1554
      @beurownboss1554  4 месяца назад

      Hey, yes of course so first thing is you can do the fenders without any change to the front liner. If you don’t do anything to the liner you will see about a 1” gap from where the liner ends and the fender ends. It’s only visible if you have the wheels off but I recommend you add some form of plastic extension bc the fenders are fiberglass and if you kick up a rock or something, you don’t want to risk it flinging up and hitting the inside of the fender. Also I imagine mud dirt and water would fling up in the gap. Any kind of plastic could work to extend. Some online have use landscape boarders etc found at homedepot. I like abs plastic sheet like in the link below
      www.amazon.com/Duco-Plastic-Sheet-Inch-Thick/dp/B0B79S3JL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=1V2MNZUB9R9VQ&keywords=abs+plastic+sheet+36%22&qid=1706461589&sprefix=abs+plastic+sheet+36+%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div
      Hope this helps. Also check my first video on the wide body bc it has a link there to the part numbers I bought. There are two front fender inserts that you will need that connect up to the front brand duct cooling pipes. If you replace those then literally the only gap you’ll have in the front fender liner is about 1” by 24” on the top side directly above the front wheel. Cheers

      This dudes video shows it pretty pretty well how to add an extension to the liner. Skip to 4:30, it shows him doing the rear but it’s a good visual. The rear liners for the z06 are cheap and easy to replace though so I’d recommend just buyer the correct liners for the rear. Just use this method on the front

    • @beurownboss1554
      @beurownboss1554  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Ron, your part numbers for the inserts are going to be different than mine since you got GS fenders. If you did the rear too, those will be the same but I highly recommend not bothering with the front liners. The way these corvettes are setup, the front inner liners are actually glued to the frame and are the mounts for the hood latching etc. If you dont replacement them absolutely perfectly, you will end up with horrible body panels gaps. Here is a video link to front liner replacement (its for a c5 but same process for the c6). Skip to 7:45 to see how much trouble that will be. ruclips.net/video/q6EhmvGgBQ8/видео.html What I recommend instead for the front is buying some ABS plastic sheathing and create an extension liner for your existing. The rear are super easy to replace though so def buy new for the rear. Let me know if you need part numbers for the rear and ill find them for you of what I bought. Cheers!

    what do you call the frame area where the top fender screws in on the car mines burnt off and im wondering can i get some material to fix it

    • @beurownboss1554
      @beurownboss1554  7 месяцев назад

      you should be able to fix with some fiberglass, the corvettes are interesting because the front "frame" part that you are referring to where the fender bolts on is actually the front liner. The front liners are made of fiberglass and permanently glued in place to the fender. If you can't fix the existing one, you could remove the liner and replace but the front are extensive so replace because of the glue process. Here is a video showing the process, it is a c5 in the video but same idea for the c6. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/q6EhmvGgBQ8/видео.html&t

      @@nothingbuthooksets the front fender inserts should have come with studs installed in them. If I remember right, it's not something you can unthread so they should have had them as part of the inserts. It was 3 nuts that hold them to the fender. I only replaced the rear liner, not the front one. The front liners on these vettes are how everything is lined up including the hood, latches, etc. They are glued in so it's a monster of a job to remove and realign. What I did for the front was just ad about 2" of abs plastic to extend the stock liner and fill the gap. You can't see it at all. The rear are super easy to pull out and install the new liner. Can you post a video clip of your inserts so I can see what screws you are referring to? Hope that helps
