For so many of us, this is the American Spirit! We dont need government holding our hands. We will and have survived on this beautiful land for generations!
South Carolina born and raised here too! We live just like this as well!!! Waaay down at the end of a private dirt road on Lake Wylie. Whole family grows own food since waaay before I was born. I'm a 48 yr old female still hunts deer, dove, squirrel, rabbit, and turkey.. and we fish every chance we get! Crappie, bass, and head on down to Murray and Wateree for striper, bass and crappie there too! We keep and freeze our fresh protein and dehydrate some too. It supplements a lot of our grocery bills, and it's way more healthy than anything you can buy. We also Reload all our own ammo for our rifles, shotguns, and sidearms. We make sure we are over stocked on everything! We were taught NEVER depend on anyone or anything to provide for you. YOU GO OUT AND GET IT YOURSELF! GOD PROVIDES US WITH EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED! And we do say Grace, and Ma'am!! Respect! I am soooo blessed to have been taught to handle any situation I might encounter, even as a female! ❤❤❤ much love neighbor!
We have always done our own hunting, skinning, butchering, making cuts for roast and steaks and grinding some of the meat up to substitute for ground beef.
As a guy born and raised in a small farming town in southwest Indiana...I relate...ran a trot line, and everything mentioned in this song..even the .45, shotgun, and rifles. We take care of f our own. "Try That in a Small Town"...is a real thing...trust me.
You being Australian, you have the same heritage as we do. Living of the land and surviving against all. Life in the outback is not far the faint of heart. They are definitely "country boys" !
You understand it so much more than some native Americans. It's not one geographical place. It's an environment and locale that is pervasive throughout America.
Baby, throw in Texan with full blood Cherokee on my daddy's side, and it won't matter, we will survive. It's just what we do. Anything less is just embarrassing. We will die on our feet before we live on our knees. For all the things our country may have gotten wrong through history, no one can deny we are indeed a different breed! Happy new year!
I served in the US Navy and had the chance to work with members of the Australian Navy. Good bunch of people. I think Australians and Americans have a lot in common.
I live in Maryland, USA right now.. and trust me.. I've skinned many deer with my husband, fished.. and we live on a 150 acre farm with the dogs and the chickens... Proud of it.. I love my life and I'm not ashamed.. We have a beautiful farm, beautiful home we built 10 yrs ago.. I hate when ppl stereotype country ppl as being stupid or backwoods with no education.. it's wrong
Hanks dad was a famous outlaw country music singers who died at 27 when Hank was young. To make money they had little Hank go around and sing all his dads hits which expose him to the road & all his dads old crazy friends, other musicians.
And my ancestors lived long before “the government” formed, then came around all those many, many decades ago and do us worse than dirty. I am of The First Nations, The Original Peoples(a.k.a. Native American Indians), The Crow, The Creek, The Choctaw, The Cherokee(Both The Eastern Band and The Western Band), The Apache and The Blackfoot Tribes. BUT we are ALL Americans who love The U.S.A. AND our fellow CITIZENS.
Like his Pops he is an icon. The songs that made him so popular were "Country Boy can Survive" and "Texas Women". Some of his Father's songs were bluesy. Hank Jr's songs were generally more fun.
I've found that abt 20-30 miles outside of your major cities we're all the same. "Country folks" are everywhere. The cities, where everyone is living on top of one another, is where you find the crazies. That's why many say America is a Red nation with abt 30 Blue cities...
So glad you liked it , I wanted you to see it because he was influenced ❤ just also wanted you to check out Hank Williams Sr , I am so lonesome I could Cry ❤love your channel, so much fun❤
Right now I am watching a genre of music called Outlaw Country, the outlaws , Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson s band , a great old song called Ghost Riders in the sky ! I think it was done again by the Highway Men, which I think is Johnny Cash , Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Chris Christopherson. Both versions are good just something new to you maybe ❤
Very few singers sing with the raw emotion of Oliver Anthony, but what you will see with country music is that the lyrics are very important. Country music does not shy away from controversial topics. You have to listen carefully, though. Frequently country music will deal with painful topics through humor and you can miss it. A good example is "I'm Going to Hire a Wino (To Decorate Our Home)" sung by David Frizzell. I believe it is from the 1970s. On the surface it is a funny song about a woman threatening to turn their house into a bar so her husband will have no reason not to come home instead of going out to the bar with his friends. The underlying message, though, is of the pain of living with an alcoholic. Especially for women in that time period when there weren't many opportunities for them to earn enough to support themselves and their children. A husband who spent his paycheck at the bar could leave his wife and kids in a financial bind. I am always struck by the lyrics about her purpose in turning her home into something like a bar for her husband and his friends... "just as long as you keep tipping, I'll laugh until you're broke. And when you run out of money, you'll have me to thank. You can sleep it off next morning while I'm putting it in the bank" It's a funny song, but there's a lot of pain underneath it if you listen closely to the lyrics.
Completely agree. I'm often considered strange for liking country, and rap music. Because they, on the surface are polar opposites. But what underpins both of them is story telling. Both genres also have utterly awful versions of them. Conversely, they both offer versions with some of the most intricate, and beautifully written lyrics and story telling.
@lisamccue1730 mate this is a classic staple in our household. Wouldn't be a fair reaction. I even performed it with the band I was in as a teenager. 😆
You know what... I don't mind a bit of the Kid. But I really haven't heard much outside of his bigger hits. Very interested in checking him out in bit more depth.
For $43 my friend lost his life.🥺😇 For the pinheads who want me to give up my guns. Come and get them 🤬☠ Hey JOE, I don't have an F-15, but my 38s and shotguns work. I'm a vet and know how to use them.👿
Americans have RIGHTS derived from God, not the "State," to free speech, assembly, due process, and to keep and bear arms . . . you Aussie tyranny is only a "decree" or "edict" or "whim" away . . . y'all might think on that.
Am I blind or does my dude have his guitars just leaned up on a wall, where they could fall and break? This sort of bravado....it is not needed, and not worth it.
Sort of. They are on stand bases, but are realistically just leaning on the wall. I do however have some adhesive on the back of the head to hold them in place. Pretty ordinary I know, but I didn't have proper wall mounts and I wanted them in the background.
@@reachmeorteachme They do look pretty sweet. Is that a Gibson and a Martin? I play too but I don't have anything that nice. My best is just an Ibanez AZ, at least on price.

AMEN!!! Please read my comment right above your comment. wado.
South Carolina here and my family lives just like this! We make our own living!!
Envious!

Have you ever considered adoption, 57 from Boston?
"Cause you can't starve us out and you can't make us run"...Amen Hank!
Country folk are tough. We CAN survive!
The fact is that for us to survive, something must die, whether animal, plant, or bad person trying to kill us.
Welcome to earth
We have always done our own hunting, skinning, butchering, making cuts for roast and steaks and grinding some of the meat up to substitute for ground beef.
Country starts right at the city limits!
I am so happy i have learned all these things. Growing up in Mississippi. And now we grow our own smoke
As a girl born in West Virginia, I identify with this song ✌️
It "don't have that pain" because Hank is essentially saying fuck everyone else, we will be around when the shit goes down.
As a guy born and raised in a small farming town in southwest Indiana...I relate...ran a trot line, and everything mentioned in this song..even the .45, shotgun, and rifles. We take care of f our own. "Try That in a Small Town"...is a real thing...trust me.

This song is from 1981, how amazing this that? That we still relate?
Country is where the heart is brother
You understand it so much more than some native Americans. It's not one geographical place. It's an environment and locale that is pervasive throughout America.
As a southerner from Alabama this song is in our DNA
Im in the "backwoods" of Arkansas and loving it!
Same here
I live in Arkansas except I'm not in the backwoods. I live in an urban area that's surrounded by the Ouachita mountains.
Baby, throw in Texan with full blood Cherokee on my daddy's side, and it won't matter, we will survive. It's just what we do. Anything less is just embarrassing. There is not a better song that sums how many of us choose to live our lives here in the US, country folk will survive.
Outside the cities, this is the rest of the country to one extent or other

Raised my family in the Mohawk Valley in Oregon... things are going to be tough.

FYI ! There’s 3 guns behind every blade of grass in the USA . New comers need to remember that .

When I was a teenager, we took our guns to school. Left the guns in our cars, then after school went hunting.
You need to listen to Copperhead Road by Steve Earle. Be sure to watch the official video for the best version of this classic song.

From what I can tell, Aussies are plenty country. It might as well be the deep, deep South.
There are a ton of similarities. We call our "rednecks" Bogans.
That's gen X expressing pain vs a millennial expressing pain
Try Cole Chaney lots of pain. Grind, Coal Shooter, really great songs by him.
Country is Countrywide.... I do believe there's a country song called that, tho I can't remember the artist atm.... someone in the comments will, tho.
You might think this is fake? I assure you it is not.
Dude looks like an Oblivion NPC

Ooh I love those guys. Wonder if they have any recent stuff I could react to
I wish Trump would start playing this song at his rallies!
