This performance was not good at all!! That vibrato was excessive, and that cry me a river interrupted in that manner, sounded so off. She might have been inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, but she is not delivering. This genre is not really for her, and she should stick to what she does best in my opinion
I would imagine it would take some effort to find an artist that could do old jazz standards any justice. She's been considered in the jazz category, so that was good enough gir them. Hard to compare or even assume she's modeling this performance after anyone since the standards have been sang by so many. Perhaps this is just her personal style coming through. The entire Apollo tribute is a let down for me.
I'll have to watch the full segment of this to give a definitive opinion. But so far, the clips I've seen of the Apollo tribute are confusing and a little disappointing. Not saying the artists are vocally bad, but the performances (and song selections) are missing the mark. The Apollo is legendary, and this entire tribute(so far) is subpar.

Yes she sounds like a carbon copy of Amy. The vocal styling is very similar but Amy tone was more tolerable.
