Greg's chops show examples of a far superior guitarist at work here. What he does with this song to me as a guitarist is simply amazing. Greg Howe is one of the finest players you will ever hear.

Greg's and Steve Morse's solos are out of this world! So much technical feeling and emotion!

Man, even Alex Liefson has to be saying to himself, "Damn, that's pretty fucken good !!! I have been playing guitar for 40 years, and I have never heard anyone like Greg Howe. I think the reason he covered this was just to see how far he could take it. Simply Amazing !!!

No one does it as well as the originator Alex Lifeson.

I don't compare Greg and Alex Lifeson's solos in this song, I just take them for what they are, both are great solos. Lifeson doesn't play like this and Greg doesn't play like him. There would be no point in any case trying to copy Alex Lifeson.

This is the sound of someone who plays 8+ hours a day, every day. For years. Never fails to blow me away.

For those of you who've correctly identified that Greg Howe and Alex Lifeson are two different musicians, I congratulate you! :-D

Can't people just make versions of the song without it being negatively compared ?
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa IT'S NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL!!
well yeah why should it be ?
If it was a carbon copy of the original what's the point?
I like artists interpretations , it's like going to ice cream store and choosing a different flavor.

I'm a big fan of both Rush & Howe but I prefer Howe's version - monster vibrato!

I love Alex and Rush my favorite 3some of all time and Greg's one of my top 10 axemasters of all time but check out Steve Morses version its pretty badass.!

I like this one more than the original. It has better guitar fills and is more intense.

Howe's just plain trying too hard. The beauty lies in the sparseness of Lifeson's solo and how it builds in intensity. This lacks those dynamics. In fact, this just sounds silly after the 7:00 minute mark...the musicality is gone.

If you like effects not feel he blows Alex away! But if you play guitar you know who is the Master!!!!!

I like the original also, but i feel that Greg played with lots of feel and had great composition to his soloing:)

I have been playing guitar for 40 years so I have good understanding of what's happening on the fret board. Greg Howe is simply one of the finest players you will ever hear. But its not just his playing that puts him over the top. Its his "creativity" that does it. Listen to his whole body of work and then form an opinion on that.

IMO blows the original away, but Rush is amazing anyways! Howe just tears this apart and brings his own shred twist which makes it so much better to me and my ears.

I thought I'd love this.. I don't. I prefer a different remake done fairly recently. I won't mention by whom on this channel.

I have a lot of respect for Howe. I think he's an amazing player. But this definitely isn't as good as the Rush version. I was very impressed up to the solo part. There is no doubt that it was absolutely insane, but it had nowhere near the feeling that Alex Lifeson's solo had.

The drums and keyboard solo are just horrific.

great job on this song.. but Alex's guitar solo has way more feel and this versions in my opinion is not better than the original..
    often imitated..NEVER duplicated.

It's funny to me that people think that just because someone has a lot of technical skills they have no feel. The notes are there! Might as well use em and play music how you feel it.....

This is my favourite Rush track ever and for me this lacks the subtlety of Alex's playing, too many tricks like Yngwie Malmsteen or Steve Vai whilst I appreciate their ability as guitarists it always feels over the top to my ears, but hey what do I know I'm just a humble Bassist
