  • During the 1989 Honda CRX Challenge at the Birmingham Superprix,
On the first lap at the Ferodo Corner, Graham Churchill (no 17. blue and orange car) collided with Rick Shortle (no.34 white car) at the Ferodo Corner and Churchill drove into the run off road to retire his car.
At the same time, Mark Hazell (no.12 white car) got caught up in the melee and spun into Shortle's car but was able to recover and drove around him and rejoined into the fray. Derek Higgins in his celebrity guest no.1 white car had to brake sharply to avoid colliding into Hazell.
Meanwhile on the 2nd lap, Rob Hall (no.26 yellow car) nerfed past Andy Ackerley for 3rd place but it was short-lived as he spun at Ferodo Corner, possibily with fluid on the track from the Shortle/Churchill collision and fell back to 7th.
