I think it's hard to add to the coaster lineup at Magic Mountain without paying top dollar at this point, so given their likely lower budget, I think this is a solid new ride experience and fills the best possible gap given the circumstances. If and when Six Flags is ready to spend more money again, then yes they could definitely add something that fills an actual large gap. Great review!

I agree with you for SFMM it’s definitely hard to get something that adds into the park. I feel like the smaller raptor model, which has more whipyness would have been a better fit. I do get that with capacity that wasn’t an option, I would have considered Vekoma, their small models have the most whippyness elements I’ve ever ridden, but with better capacity. I know SF doesn’t work with Vekoma (yet). They might soon die to their price position in the market

I love all the raptors personally, but agree that the smaller ones are superior in just about every way. I rank this 4th in the park, just behind Tatsu. I rank it far above WCR and slightly higher than Apoc. Very fun coaster if you dial your expectations right!

I recently rode Jersey Devil back in July, and I wasn’t expecting much due to all of the chatter in the coaster community. I got the back row my first 2 rides and I was I shocked how forceful the first drop was - out of my seat the whole way down paired with that gut wrenching stomach drop sensation. the drop was even crazier and more forceful than on El Toro. I was pleasantly surprised. and while the harnesses do suck compared to a lap bar, it really didn’t bother me too much - and I’m a bigger guy, 6’1” 210lbs. I’m going back to SFMM next month - so if Wonder Woman really is better than Jersey Devil like a lot of people are saying, then I’m expecting a fantastic ride.

I rank it number 3. Slightly above Tatsu. I don't think restraints are that bad, especially compared to the original raptors. It was good for the park to get more floater airtime because it was definitely lacking in that department. I do agree with what you said about the DC universe area. It really hurt that they cancelled the restaurant that was supposed to be there. Hopefully they aren't done.

Four trains is definitely needed at GADv on any busy day. The ride may not have the capacity of the B&Ms at the park, but JDC allows the capacity to be consistent since the ride works itself. Having two in the station and two out on the course is a sight to see.

This is exactly how I feel about JDC/WWFOC, I just think Raptors were designed for tight maneuvers and compact layouts, so it just doesn't hit the same on the bigger ones. I'm hoping they start making some new custom layouts for parks that want raptors and don't just keep cloning the originals and this new model, but I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I literally rode this for the first time the day this video was uploaded lol. I got an early morning ride in the front row with a half-full train--it was super underwhelming. A couple pops of floater here and there but overall quite forceless. After that ride, I'd rank it seventh in the park. I rode it again at the end of the day in the back row with a full train--there was airtime galore and lots of whip. It was almost as forceful as the smaller raptors. Now I'd rank it number four in the park, and above the other raptors.

Rode the very last car twice in a row (no exit) today. It was about 80F out. I had no idea what I was in for. That back row is CRAZY. 60%+ of the trains had the back seat empty and maybe 50% back 2 seats empty. Didn’t even notice till the ride ops told
Us as we got off, 30min wait on 45 posted time. Ride ops were smashing it. Line moved great. The seating position was quite uncomfortable on my hips.
There should be a warning on that back seat😅 I was comparing the intensity of that seat to X2.

I've not yet ridden Wonder Woman Flight of Courage since I only visited SFMM once in late November 2019, but I finally rode my 1st (and so far still my only) RMC Raptor this year during my 1st multi state coaster trip while visiting SFGA N.J. for the 1st time since 1981 and managed to ride it 33 times during the last two days of May and 1st two days of June; 33 times. Usually the ride op was ok with seating preferences, especially if it wasn't crowded, and so I rode in every seat but preferred the back and rode there most of the time.
I loved Jersey Devil, but rode it so much that at some point I felt pain from the soft shoulder restraints and noticed I could easily remover them myself. The last day I was there I was riding El Toro with a ride op from J.D. 4 days earlier and confessed to him that I'd removed the shoulder restraints from J.D. and he said "We all do that!"
At SFGA I place Jersey Devil below El Toro and Nitro but above Kingda Ka; and at SFMM I'd probably place Wonder Woman Flight of Fear after Twisted Colossus, X2 and Riddler's Revenge, but before Tatsu. I cannot say where WWFOF places in comparison to West Coast Racers since WCR wasn't open yet when I visited SFMM.

I rode Wonder Woman Flight of Courage once on 9/26. It was down for much of the day and I was one of the first on when it opened. By the time I got off of it, the line was incredible, so I didn't repeat. I could barely recall the ride. I didn't know what to expect and this was my first ride on one of the larger single-rail RMCs. I thought it was fun, but not memorable. A couple weeks later on 10/10 I was at Six Flags Great Adventure. I went straight to Jersey Devil as I had booked the trip to ride El Toro before the accident, but the last time I was at SFGAdv, Jersey Devil had been closed. It was walk-on. I went back-to-back about 9-10 times. Walk-on every time! On the last ride I intended to take, it went down and was down for most of the day. In the last hour of the day, it was up again and still walk-on every time. I got front-row, back-row and all in-between. I rode 5 more times back-to-back and I know the layout very well now, and I like it. With this vid, I see what the minor differences are, but they are very similar coasters and a definite recommend. I'm a front-row guy at heart, but you have to ride this back-row. It's a can't miss ride! Enjoy!

I just rode Wonder Woman for the first time this last saturday! I got one ride in the second row at around 3pm and a second ride in the front at 1am. I don't think I noticed that big of a difference between the rows in terms of overall experience, but that drop in the front felt super cool to stare down. I definitely need to get a back row ride at some point because I know that would be absolutely insane. For my first single rail though it was great! Personally I didn't find the shoulder harness' to be that much of a con. I actually felt surprisingly comfortable with them. Probably the only 2 cons I really had was what you mentioned with not being able to choose your seat, and the way the cars are designed. I found the placement for your feet with that hump in the middle super uncomfortable and awkward. It forces you to be put into a weird position that ended up making my hip cramp pretty badly halfway through my second ride. I'm glad my first ride I didn't have that problem so I was still able to fully experience it without issue. Other than those though, I think it's great. Super smooth like you said and a good length. Definitely would try to hop on Wonder Woman every time I visit now.

I agree that there shouldn't be so much drama to get the row we want. Not just for this ride, but for so many others across so many parks. Six Flags parks don't usually have too much of that drama, except for the raptors & Full Throttle. But there's so much of that drama at Cedar Fair parks, and even some at Dollywood & Silver Dollar City.

I haven’t ridden wonder woman yet, but I will be visiting the park in November. One thing I can say about the larger raptors is that they get better with age. I rode the jersey devil on its first day of operation, during an event only open to passholders, RMC was still on site and I got to ride with a couple of them. I remember not being super impressed because I was expecting just as intense an experience as I had on the prototype raptor down at fiesta Texas. I went back to Six Flags great adventure earlier this year, I and due to them actually running four train operations I got to ride the jersey devil 12 times in total. 10 of those rides were consecutive, so I have been in every seat. I was really really surprised with the level of intensity that jersey devil offered on my most recent visit. I the mid course brake run seemed to be completely pointless. I literally got a core workout riding that roller coaster as much as I did. I rode the coaster 10 times, then I went over to the other side of the park and rode El Toro (my absolute favorite coaster) twice, and rather than continue riding El Toro ( which also had an incredibly short line) I will point out that this visit was just one week prior to the most recent accident on El Toro, and my rides on El Toro were a bit rougher than I remember, so I went back over to Jersey devil for two more rides. I tell you that jersey devil just blazees through its course these days I’m very excited for the wonder woman coaster at Magic Mountain, and I’m excited to see how it ages, hopefully in the same fashion as jersey devil.

I had a similar experience my first day with this ride. A middle row, a front row and back. (It was just dumb luck, but I was happy.) Having never ridden a single-rail, the front ride stood out a lot because it was new enough that there were still bits of black rubber tire on the track, and I wasn't 'reading' the bright yellow thing in front of me well enough to know what it was gonna do next so each element was a surprise. For me, Full Throttle just barely edges this out for it's restraints and backwards launch even though this feels more complete.

Compared to my ride on a standard sized raptor (Stunt Pilot at Silverwood) I have to say the standard size is more intense and more fun.

First camelback gave fantastic ejector and I was whipped in and out of every element. I have also test ridden this ride right when it opened in 2021 and before a normal park day in 2022. Its one of my favorites and the capacity was phenomenal, the only other ride in the park on its level is El Toro in my opinion. I've ridden the majority of RMCS in the country and I prefer JD to many of them. I think expectations of it being amazing or not good can really sway someone's opinion and after traveling the country and world riding coasters I try to go into all rides with no expectations based on others opinions. Just rode it last Friday, haven’t ridden one of the smaller layout raptors yet, so my experience of the inversions and airtime were both good. Didn’t feel like the mid course brake run engaged at all on my one ride in the 7th row, so maybe that’s a factor too. I’d rank this over west coast racers though. I prefer the suspense of the lift hill and height of the 1st drop of WW over the somewhat underwhelming launches of west coast racers. I agree with one of your cons, those straps made it uncomfortable. But the biggest con for me was the seat, and having to straddle the hump was awkward on my pelvis, knees, and ankles. Best analogy I could give is I felt like I had to hold a yoga pose for the entire ride. Super distracting from the ride experience for me. Then my wife, who was riding in the seat in front of me, bruised and scratched herself on on her back pretty good from hitting the corner of the harness as she stood up to get off, she’s fine, but that also became another con 😅

A bit pointless at a park with world class ejector (Toro), a floater machine (Nitro), and so many damn loopers.

My little background… I’ve been on all the Raptors in the country. My first was Wonder Woman at Fiesta Texas. I was blown away by the intensity of just how small of an area that raptor uses as opposed to Jersey Devil and Wonder Woman at Magic Mountain.
I remember watching the videos for Jersey Devil and thinking that the ride seemed very different than its sisters at Fiesta and Great America.
The longer and taller raptors are way less intense and in a way are more elegant than their smaller sisters.
I agree that the later drops aren’t that forceful and don’t have a lot of bite. The smaller Raptors have such bite on their second drops, and it’s unfortunate we don’t get those amazing ejectors on the bigger Raptors.
Oh well they’re still a lot of fun.
I was just marathoning Jersey Devil at SFGA two weekends ago and the setting next to the huge forest at night was absolutely unreal!
These raptors are fun. When can we see the 500 ft. one?? 😂

You have some valid points as the straps did come down while riding it, but I think the air-time is better than you are giving it credit for. I do thing you need to be in the back 2-3 rows otherwise the ride experience changes drastically. When it is running at its peak and I'm in the back row, it is #36/439 credits for me. I have it third in the park behind X2 & Twisted Colossus. IF I get a seat in the first 8-9 rows, I place it fourth in the park behind Tatsu and it would be in my low 50s overall. I do think they need 3 trains when the park is busier as with 2 the operations pauses at points.

I recently rode this one. I did my first ride in row 1 and my last in row 12. Very different ride experiences. Front row overall was better but damn that ejector air on the first drop in the back to me was almost as awesome as the first drop on X2. Overall I think I like this better than west coast racers (would have to ride them on the same day to be sure though) but not as much as full throttle which is my number 4. So I think a tentative #5 in the park for me. I don’t love the fact that it’s so 2 dimensional. I would love a helix or even a banked turn that’s more than just a 180 degree turn around lol. I will do more testing this winter during the holiday lights and see if it grows on me at all.✌️😎

for me, i thought the airtime in the very back row was pretty great at night. on top of the drop the first camelback and the two drops after the turn around and mid course gave great floater and ejector

I think these single rails excel in small footprints, where they can really flex on those tight turns etc. I still havent ridden this, granted, but I've been on RailBlazer a bunch, and I still hold hope for seeing a TRex at some point.

This ride looks to fix everything with Jersey Devil- not that there’s any problems with the ride! I agree, Jersey Devil has an insane drop and Wonder Woman looks to run even faster and this is its first years (also the shoulder strap always fell off when I was on the giant camelback)

  • @scottyjbd
    @scottyjbd Год назад

As with RailBlazers over the shoulder straps, these dont bother me either. Sure it would be nice if they weren’t there, but I felt the airtime was strong enough and the straps flex as well to allow for room to float or eject. Thought it was great overall!

I've only gotten one ride so far, but I honestly rank this as my number 2 at the park. Most people might not like this, but I rank it above Twisted Colossus. To me, the collars don't take away from the experience, and I just think it's all around more pleasant. I'm not a fan of intense airtime. I'm definitely more of a hangtime person. I usually ride Twisted just for that incredible stall on the green side, but now I can get it on Wonder Woman and enjoy myself more. It's not to say that I think Twisted is bad, but it's just not my taste. Of course, Wonder Woman doesn't have the hangtime bliss of my number 1, Full Throttle, but I honestly will probably ride WW more because I like the more graceful ride that it offers. Gosh, you know, I just realized that Magic Mountain is chock full of awesome inversions: from Viper's slow batwing, to X2's crazy flips, to Tatsu's chest crushing pretzel loop, to Throttle's hangtime heaven. I think we should see a ranking video for them.

  • @ducksfan_1149

It’s kind of weird, I got the same experience on the same day. Three rides; front, middle, back. But I enjoyed the airtime. The biggest surprise was the lateral pop I got in the front popping into the carousel turnaround. I loved the airtime moments in the first half, but the second half could have been much stronger. Also, when I rode railblazer & GLC in 2019 I remember them being butter smooth, so I was very surprised to find slight jitters and bumps on this coaster. Overall, because I think Magic Mountain needed another airtime focused coaster, I really liked flight of courage. I need to reride Tatsu & Full Throttle before I am confident with my ranking, but right now I put it 3rd in the park.

I don't raise my hands and I hold the straps away from my neck as I learned to do with comfort collars too. Great video tho!

I haven't been to a park out of Texas in years, but I think I'd prefer WW GLC's layout over this. Although, the smaller capacity and short runtime hurt it. I've been to SFFT 3 times this year, and I didn't ride it the last time because the line was way too long. Even the Flash Pass queue I waited in was long. Two of the 8 seats were out of order, and I think they were only running one train. I never noticed the roughness either time, but my friend had back pain after riding it once. Be prepared to wait on busy days.

We just rode this last weekend for the first time twice and I was disappointed that the ride is not smooth. The ride is fun, but that and the cage restraints are really uncomfortable. I didn't see this as very re-ridable personally. my personal faves are Twisted Colossus, Full Throttle, Tatsu and West Coast Racers...

I have only ever rode Jersey Devil, and I only got a single ride due to it going down later in the day when I was there. I found the restraints to be excruciatingly painful, like my legs were being sawed off. I just couldn't enjoy any of the good elements that it had. The coaster ranks in my lower third but I really want a 2nd ride to see if the back row was just a bad idea or not.

Did you have some footage of when you were at Magic Mountain the day of the power outage? Maybe that would be a good video because California has had blackouts. Also, since Canobie Coaster greyed out on Jersey Devil Coaster's 1st drop and I blacked out on Wonder Woman: Flight of Courage's 1st drop, high turn, and final valley, did you greyout on Wonder Woman: Flight of Courage?

  • @barkanster

I don’t know if anyone else felt this, but on the ride I felt that the restraint was a couple inches too far from my thigh and hip so any time there was and ejector moment or the first drop I would get pushed in to the restraints and at a chill moment I would fly right back. overall I felt that the restraint was quite painful but this was my first RMC so I didn’t know what to expect
