10 years old in 1996 walkin through the halls of Tiger Stadium Detroit Michigan ... first song I ever heard at a concert 💞 Sponge, Alice In Chains, KISS ...that concert changed my life! I was a Rocker after that! I'll remember it till the day I die!
Saw this band in 1998. The guy I liked at the time was also there, and I was following him around like a puppy dog. 17 years later, and we're married, and jamming to this song together on RUclips. :) Time goes by so quickly. Cherish the good times.
+Zimuahaha That's when I saw them too. So many great bands there that day, but this is the song that I went for. I danced like no one was watching, and at the end of this song he blew me a kiss from the stage, probably because I was the only dancing fool, in that moment I thought I'd die lol. Best memories, love your love story, congrats ;)
February 1995, I was one month away from 16 years old when my father died. All I remember is being surrounded with my friends and the music that was a soundtrack for everything flying past me and experiencing everything from a memory, unable to be present, except in the music. This is the song I recall during that lastt week of February '95... it was unseasonably warm.. 70s... and the smells of spring and church incense are just as strong as the day I walked my grandmother up to where hber son, my father laid silent.. hundreds of friends, colleagues, neighbors and people filled the funeral home and formed a line out the back door and down the sidewalk... most knew him well from the neighborhood, some only knew one of the local high school teacher's husbands died... leaving three children behind. My sister 12, and my younger brother who was only 9. There were lots of emotions and things that immediately recall a moment from those final days in February... this song was what summed it up for me and its still the same today
Bang ! My birthday is February 2nd and I’m from mid Michigan. I remember exactly what you’re talking about. You should shoot me your email. We could really reminisce! We’re the same age and have a very similar nostalgic memory. I’m so sorry about your dad, that’s so unfortunate. Would love to share memories of our teenage years.
Had the pleasure of seeing Vin and Sponge, along w Wes and puddle of Mudd and Saving Abel in a tremendous show at Harrahs Chester last year. Had a few stories and drinks w Vin. Fan forever. What a class act and great time w those bands!!! The past ain't dead ya heard!!!
Yeah, this is a great song, hooked many of us on the band. However, dig in to the newest records by Sponge too. They are writing some of the best songs of their long career right now. Great band, great people, go see 'em live. They are still kicking ass in 2019.
I remember hearing this song on an old radio show called "Alternative Sunday Night" when I was 15. It instantly became one of my favorites. I managed to record it on a cassette tape, and listened to it frequently. 25 years later (today) I watched the video for the first time. It is a great song, and a great video, from my favorite musical era.
What a time to have been in our prime. Over 20 years later and I’ll still blow the speakers out with jams like this. Hey neighbors 🖕🏻like it or leave town.
I'd love to go back to the mid to late 90s for just 1 weekend. Almost every weekend was an adventure for me. Always something exciting and crazy going on. Especially in the summer.
Me too! Im 49 and heard it on radio and I was like WAIT WTF is this? I literally couldn't drive until I heard whole song and figured out who it was--they are/were so underrated esp this song!
Frank D'Agostino this song was my favorite at the time I lived in Dallas TX. Follow by bands like rammstein, with du hast and another favorite from fuel shimmer.👍
So, you guys are dead on target with this song, I only wish it was longer! It always seems to end too soon for me. Oh, hell, what can I expect in" a world of human wreckage"!
jtwiztidbagz Perhaps he means bands sponge isn't the most well known band in fact if you type "sponge 90s" youll probably get that Elaine Seinfeld episode lol
This album is among a handful of rock albums where every song is fucking awesome, each evoking it's own string of emotional responses. For me personally, its one if the greatest albums of all time and immediately transports me back to college in the mid 90s. I could honestly write a 10-page article on how awesome this whole album is and its influence on my life throughout the years, from then all the way up until today. What an amazing time to be in one's prime.
This ranks up with one of the quintessential songs of the 90s. The sound, the video, the look, etc etc. This really makes me miss the early/mid 1990s. I would rather live in a continuous loop of that period than another day in today's world.

He had on a big chain that some audience member ripped off his neck. He got back on stage and said they weren't playing more until it came back. It never did and they walked off. Sucked.
I pictured a guy with long hair and beard singing this...shocked...Howard Stern show brought me here, Howard was praising this song on his Sirius show (week of 2/4/19)
The 90’s rocked. Dare I? Dare I? I shall say it, Best decade for music. My opinion guys/girls. Maybe it’s got something to do with being 16 in 1990. Yes I appreciate all decades back to the 50’a. Jimmy Buffett is as country as I go and I hate the “new rap mumble mouths”. All genres and decades have greatness, but give me the 90’s anytime.
I miss the good things in the 90s, this song being 1. Generally I don't miss the 90s though. For every good song there were 10 loads of crap like "I Kissed a Girl" or "She Lives in Vaseline" and for every good band there were 10 loads of posers. I do miss the football (the 90s were the last old school decade) and the wrestling (which killed it's own self before the end of the decade) but that's it. The 90s were a huge pain in the ass otherwise.
60BloodyChamp60 the 90's definitely was a huge pain in the ass but that's just the thing, feel me, that's exactly why the music was so fucking good. Hard times calls for passionate music.
I moshed in a dirt pit at lollapalooza Aug 2 1996 in SJ Ca to this band and this song. One of the best moments in my life. Truly grateful I had the luck and joy of experiencing that event. I love Sponge!
This still gets regular play in the Detroit area. Thankful for that. This one will never get old... Probably because it'll never get the attention it deserves.
Ozzfest 98 Burgettstown PA My first and one of the best concerts I've seen. I remember hanging out in the lawn with my friends having a blast and this song playing in the backround. Now when I hear it it takes me back to a time when life was simple and my friends were still alive.
Remember when you had a mixed tape that you listened to over and over and before the end of the current song, the next song you were already singing in your head. I don't have the cassette anymore but it stills happens each time I hear this song. The next song was Good by Better than Ezra. And that goes for many songs of the 90s that I or my sister recorded on tape.
***** Use to go there almost every Friday night! Seen a lot of then small acts. Lacuna Coil, Type O, Orgy, several others I can't think of. Saw Aphex Twin's Windowlicker video there for the first time, tripping my nuts off. Holey shit that was like having sex while camping! Fucking in tents! What it was to be young care free.
This song brings me to a place where my brother ! my beloved little brother and I found refuge and peace in music ! WITH EVERY BREATH I TAKE I MISS YOU RICHARD DALE PENTZER !! YOUR ABSENCE MAKES MY HEART FULL OF PAIN !!

i loved this band in the 90s bought cd then and i still have the cd. im 62 now and i still rock to their music..their music rocked me all night long..woo hooo
I wrote sponge on a piece of paper and it looked funny so i googled the word and this popped up and now i am going to have a nostalgic 90s rock binge all damn day long... what a great song. Brings such cool memories flooding back...
These guys where the opening act a club named The Impound ( the West side of Detroit) for my band at the time Stoneridge after that we enjoyed a bit of local notoriety . I think they opened and closed with Knights in White Satin....those early days in 1990,s Detroit are still a blur
Kent Shepherd that is awesome!!!! What was your bands name? Do you still play? Are any of your performances on RUclips? I love music, it “permeates my DNA & moves me”! Never stop Rocking!
Saw these guys in a very small venue (neighborhood bar) a few years back. I had no idea until then what a stunningly beautiful man the lead singer is! He has a very remarkable profile too. Just lovely to look at!
I saw Vinnie & the guys at the Rave in Milwaukee, I believe in 98 or 97 and they put on a great performance, it is so upsetting that great rock like this has died.
I’ve been looking for this song for years. Everytime I come close to finding it the radio wouldn’t say who this is by or something stupid at my old job stopped me from checking. I found this last night and now I’m not letting go; such a banger.
I think many great bands, songs and new sounds came out of 90's rock. Sponge is far from being in my top 10 bands of the 90's, but this song is a perfect example of the sound which makes this era of rock a great one.
I just heard this song on the Howard Stearn Show this morning for the first time and all I've got to say is holy cow! How was this band not bigger than they were?! This song is fantastic!
It's 1996 again, somewhere on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC around 2am I am driving 100 mph+ in fully loaded Trans-AM, just because I was 19 years old and I could!... and at some point this song came on the radio. :D
STILL jamming this in 2019!! This song has a heavy tone, fast-paced, and an AWESOME low bass-line to boot.. if you have a system with good low bass response, you will need to put the power down!!👊👊
Same here. Took me awhile to figure out who it was after spending hours listening to the entire Social D discography only to figure out it's Sponge. Thanks, Shazam.
Very excited to be playing with these guys in two weeks, such a killer band! Sponge and Shyster will be playing the Reverb in Reading Pa April 26th. Wooo!
The guitar lick at 1:48 fading into feedback at 2:02 is so perfectly fit that it's sick - has been giving me goosebumps since I first heard this song 20 years ago. Totally makes the song ;)
My first concert, 14 years old in 1995. What a good time to be alive.
Nice right on man the 90's what a time to be alive man.
🎉🎉
I saw him in 96 at lollapalooza south of Dallas
PlayStation One released that fall.
It was so legendary
nice
This song is a perfect representation of the energy of the 90s. We were wild and fast and unstoppable, before adulthood came crashing down on us.
Thank God
Wasted youth,eh? Now @ 45 years old I think back to the wise words of Darkness from Legend,"The dreams of youth are the regrets of maturity."
Looking back we are sooooooo damned lucky to have lived and came of age in the 90's. BEST DECADE EVER !!!!!
Im nineteen and will never let my freespirit go away
Nailed it 💯
That song you hear come on the radio once a year, and you crank it up every time.
It was about 10 years after seeing the movie that I heard this on the radio. Was like winning the lottery.
I'm blasting it right now!
Then you say to yourself "why don't they play this song on the radio more?"
Sugarwolf Same here, man!! You can't even hear this song on the radio anymore. Luckily, we have our phones!! 😀😀
Hell ya.. I do the same thing when I hear this song. Crank it up

+Zimuahaha Damn straight.
+Zimuahaha Sponge played last week at the Detroit Pub awesome show
23 years later and it's still a staple on rock radio. One of my favorite 90s songs
Rotting pinata was one of the most underrated albums ever. It didn't have a bad song on it. Why does talent go so unnoticed?
That's exactly what I've always said. The album it's so so great.
I certainly noticed.
IT'S A MSTERPIECE, YES, SO UNDERRATED.... BUT GOD!, ITS AN AGELESS MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My father died on July 4th. He liked rock music like this. He especially liked Nickleback. We played it at his funeral.
Music gets us through

A lot of these 90s bands are still around and surprisingly sound really good. Saw Gin Blossoms a couple years ago and they were great.
You are correct, sponge bob has a rad band! Sadly, he has not made new content in a while though.. wait, am I on the wrong channel? Sandy?!
Will do!!

That brief period between grunge's zenith and the emergence of nu metal produced a lot of great music that history has sort of forgotten.
It also produced "meh radio rock," of which this song is the very definition.
God I loved the 90's! Best time of my life.
I like to cherish those times and hope the best time of my life is now and still to come. I dont want my lifes peak to be my school days.
Yeah we had a bloody good time didnt we
Fuck yeah! Ikr

Anybody who wasn't there could never understand just how perfect the 90s were for a teenager just living for the experience of that era. It was EPIC.

Same here.
This is my favorite song. If I go into a coma, hopefully my family has enough sense to blast this so that I wake up.
You been away for four years wake up!
Will I wake up
Is it a dream I made up
No I guess it's reality
What will change us
Or will we mess up
Our only chance to connect
With a dream
Say a prayer for me
I'm buried by the sound
In a world of human
Wreckage
I'm lost and I'm found
And I can't touch the
Ground
I'm plowed into the sound
To see wide open
With a head that's broken
Hang a life on a tragedy
Plow me under the ground
That covers the message
That is the seed
Hard driving relentless masterpiece. Lyrically comes full circle as life often does.
It's one of those songs that has great flow and energy to it that demands you crank up the volume.

I think this song is actually about salvation through Jesus if you listen to the lyrics

...this always stuck in my head...over the last 25-30 yrs....say a prayer for me....!!!!!!
My heart stayed in the 90’s. Still loving this in 2018!
Probably one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. I’m glad I was able to figure out the lyrics and find it and buy it!
I was going through a 90s radio song playlist to see what songs I remember listening to when I was a kid. This is definitely one of them.
Best decade of music ever!! Oh to go back in time to that decade!! Musics finest and the best times of my life!!
I’ve been looking for this song for years. Everytime I come close to finding it the radio wouldn’t say who this is by or something stupid at my old job stopped me from checking. I found this last night and now I’m not letting go; such a banger.
This song needs to be about 8 minutes longer.
Ahahaha, true.
Yes it does very indeed true.. Extended version.. Plowed
Howard Stern sent me here, I forgot how good this song is
PHENOMENAL. Such an underrated gig
Great song, from a decade of music that, sadly, may never be heard again.
I think many great bands, songs and new sounds came out of 90's rock. Sponge is far from being in my top 10 bands of the 90's, but this song is a perfect example of the sound which makes this era of rock a great one.
that first guitar riff took me right back to high school
92.3 k-rock days, I called up the station and asked who sings this , then bought the album.
Yessss!!!!!
@@gianni3835 ✌️
Best radio station ever
@@gianni3835 wish ,it was still on
I would never turn it off lol
one of the best morning songs on the drive to work to get the juices flowing the day.
God this sounds like me only I was 22 and doing over 100 in a 76 Formula Firebird.
STILL jamming this in 2019!! This song has a heavy tone, fast-paced, and an AWESOME low bass-line to boot.. if you have a system with good low bass response, you will need to put the power down!!👊👊
And pretty easy to play lead guitar, too....
I love me some Sponge. However when I first heard this in the 90s, I thought it was Social Distortion. The singer really has that Mike Ness voice down
i remember trying to find this song on napster. looking for Social D tracks. then i saw Sponge in concert and they played plowed, blew my mind
thats exactly what i was gonna say, this singer sounds almost exactly like mike ness from social distortion, literally the same voice!
William Z - for the longest time, I thought it was Social D. Don't feel bad!! hahah :)
Same here. Took me awhile to figure out who it was after spending hours listening to the entire Social D discography only to figure out it's Sponge.
Thanks, Shazam.
William Z Dude same here. thought that for the longest time!!
Very excited to be playing with these guys in two weeks, such a killer band! Sponge and Shyster will be playing the Reverb in Reading Pa April 26th. Wooo!
Cuánta energía tiene éste tema.
Lo veía en MTV. La mejor década los 90.
Saludos desde Argentina.
Favorite song of the 90s
Love Sponge!!!! My Dad sent me to a concert of theirs, I will never forget! !! Plowed! ❤
I got to open for these guys a few weeks ago and they still kick ass.
Yes hey are and by all means look for a show near you on the net. It will be well worth the time.
***** No, Das Dumbass...
THEY'RE still around, though.
The guitar lick at 1:48 fading into feedback at 2:02 is so perfectly fit that it's sick - has been giving me goosebumps since I first heard this song 20 years ago. Totally makes the song ;)
Love this song. One of my many favorite songs of the 90s.
I mourn the loss of the 90's.
Best song ever!!! Definite one hit wonder!!!! Miss this era!!
Great album. Still listening in 2017
Rob Erickson Yes, me too!!!!
always loved the tension and resolve of the chord progression under the verses on this.
I wish this band would make a come back. This song jams. The entire band is awesome!
