The train sequence is cinematic perfection. Blending breathtaking action with heartfelt emotion. From Spider-Man’s heroic struggle to stop the train to the passengers’ promise to protect his identity. A perfect encapsulation of what makes Spider-Man so inspiring.
That sequence is incredibly well made! And that moment with the passengers is so heartwarming. Couldn’t agree more! This is what makes a Spidey story special ❤️
Molina nails the gravitas of Otto's reverse transformation and sacrifice at least 3 times that scene. "Yes...a privilege!" "Listen to meee nowwww..." and "I will not die a monster." Top 3 comic villain performance.
That minute long close up on Peter telling Aunt May the truth about what happened the night Uncle Ben died is one of the boldest storytelling decisions in modern blockbuster cinema.
Fun facts: When Mary Jane is running through the park at the end, a man in black turns around to look at her. That’s Thomas Jane’s Punisher who was shooting on an adjacent set and showed up for fun and they offered him a subtle cameo. A nice little nod to Punisher’s origin in the Spider-man comics.
Actually it was his stunt double. Thomas Jane was due to appear in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 as The Punisher, but there were some contractual issues that prevented him from starring. This didn't stop the creators however and instead of casting Jane, they turned to his stunt double.
@ Thanks for the correction, I always had heard it was him and the resemblance is spot on. Still a clever way to give a nod to a parallel project in the era before the MCU. Still technically “Thomas Jane’s Punisher” just not Thomas Jane.
Peter doesn’t lose his powers because he “doesn’t want to be Spider-man” or “isn’t supposed to be”. He loses them because of what Otto says: “if you keep something as complicated as love stored up inside, it can make you sick...” Rosie even comments “it’s hardly perfect, you have to work at it.” Rami’s genius summarizing the true main conflict of each character, love, and the mourning that comes with it.
He lost them due to trying to balance a social life and being Spider-Man the stress of it all was beginning to take a toll on his body and powers but sure we'll go with that
Speak like a normal human being, goddamnit. "This scene is great." Something like that. Tough? The hell is tough? What does that even mean. And af? Are you so lazy than you won't write full words? As. Fuck. See? Easy.
16:18 others have probably mentioned it, but him either having limited focus or money, and mixing both loads of laundry up, and subsequently messing up his normal clothes...was a nice metaphor for how his life is going
Another is when he had to pick up his books and everyone is walking by unintentionally smacking him with their bags. Poor bastard is literally and metaphorically getting hit from all sides. To quote RUclipsr Just Trust Ash: "That's symbolism!"
Spider-Man 2 is at a level of operatic camp that I WISH the MCU movies had. It’s Superman mashed up with Frankenstein and Evil Dead. For a sequel, it’s such an epic story in and of itself. It’s still the best Spider-Man movie.
One of the best things I never realized about this movie before I saw No Way Home was the lights in the tentacles of Doc Ock. They are red when they have control of him, they turn white when Otto has control.
just before the last doctor died, you can see for a split second when all four are on screen before they kill him, they flash of white to red, bc Doc was slowly coming back to consciousness
When I started Raimi's trilogy, I didn't expect to love the second installment the most. The exploration of Peter's vulnerabilities and struggles, the train scene, the emotional aspect, the CGI that looks like it was made today, freakin DOC OCK (huge shout outs to Alfred Molina btw)! I loved it so much.
This is how you do a sequel! A step above the first one in almost every department while still keeping what we loved about the characters the first time around ❤️
Rosemary Harris' hero speech is such a golden standard. Not just for a superhero film, but for films in general. That warmth she brought to the lines. Just... GAH 😆 She is and has always been my Aunt May.
I think part of the reason I loved Miles Morales's "you can be the mask!" final voiceover in Into the Spider-verse is it made me think of "I believe there's a hero in all of us." I will remember her saying that forever.
Yup, the memory of that scene flooded in and brought me to tears. Teared up a few times cuz this movie is so heartfelt and true. greatest comic movie brought to screen personally.
I feel like this is one of the best superhero movies ever made, not overpushed jokes etc. just the hero trying to do good with whatever it takes. The music, the effects, its like you are in the movie. It brings emotions everytime, mostly the train scene. Also its nice to see to get the hero hurt so much and never give up.
This movie is one of those Sequels that outperformed the original. Hands down one of my favorite superhero movies of all time. Also Alfred Molina killed it as Doc-Ock. He's actually my favorite Spiderman Villain. Also the Danny Elfman score at the beginning. He does tinker with it a little bit for the sequel. And does the same for part 3. Glad you guys caught that.
This film was arguably the greatest comic book film pre-Dark Knight. It was everything a perfect Spider-Man story should be. Loved rewatching it with you two fellow New Yorkers. Great channel.
Thing we don't notice is otto literally says before he puts on the arms. "Developed and programmed for the sole purpose is creating successful fusion" That's why the arms were do adamant on recreating the experiment
Apparently one of the things that got Alfred Molina interested in the role of Doc Ock was the character's sardonic sense of humor. You can really tell how much fun he's having delivering the "butterfingers" line and the "you have a train to catch"
Much like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, RDJ as Iron Man, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alfred Molina was perfect casting for Dr Octopus But also logically speaking… how is Otto even alive?! He’s been hit by bags of money, a desk, slammed into a car, and fell onto a moving train!
That’s some comic book logic for you! I guess you could say the arms help him absorb some of the impact. It could be interesting lore wise if the arms are also keeping him from feeling any type of pain and even keep him alive to a certain extent.
The arms do indeed strengthen his body once they were permanently attached to him and he possesses kind of a “ spidey sense “ or Octopus sense “ in this case from the arms that keep him aware of his surroundings they not on par with Peter’s Spidey senses though because at least one of his arms has to not be occupied.
In the novelization of the film , it states every time Peter punches doc ...he gets knocked unconscious and the arms have to wake him up constantly. And Peter is holding back , because in the comics when doc switched bodies with Peter, he punched full force and tore scorpions jaw off!!! Spidey is so much stronger than many realized. And of all the spidermen , tobeys is the closest to comic book strength being adapted to film.
this one Doc Octavius has strong relationship with Peter, as a mentor and father figure for him. what a tragedy happen to Otto.. ..i almost get tears when they finally reunite in Spiderman : No Way Home.. 22 years later
You mean Peter prioritizes Harry's relationships with his dead father psycho more than relationships with his alive best friend? I'm sure Harry will undestand the truth
@@davidhasselblad3825 An eye for an eye.... If Harry wasn't a true friend tp Peter, why should the be protected? I mean treat others how you should be treated. What goes around, comes around I say
Sure. But it comes down to do you tell your best friend anyway and try to explain. Or follow the last request of a dying man back in control? The goblin gave back control when it realized he was done. It was truly Norman on the end. “Don’t tell harry.” Maybe it would’ve been better but. Eh, wasn’t the movie we got.
This movie, along with The Dark Knight, has to be among the best superhero movies to date, and it's interesting that both are sequels. Hopefully, if they keep making so many superhero movies, they do so with as much heart and passion as these films.
That’s exactly what these movies need to aim for, heart in their story. It’s the motivation that helps sell the story and this one hit it right on target.
Facts. It's easily up there with the Dark Knight trilogy. As cheesy as it is it just has this feeling of authenticity and quality acting with its own sense of identity and soul because it wasn't manufactured by a large corporation but under the directions of a director who has vision and taste. Just the way the camera goes and how the city interacts with Spidey easily tells you about it.
This is strange fact.... John Landis the director of Micheal Jackson's Thriller, Coming to America, Trading Places, and An American Werewolf in London is one of the surgeons killed by Doctor Otto-Octavius
The Best Spider Man Film in my opinion and it’s a big step up in every way to the first one. Love how complex Doc Ock is with the tentacles consuming his mind while he’s trying to be sane. Just Amazing 💙💯
The emotional depth of this story is fantastic. It’s the perfect evolution from where the first film left us off and it gave us way more than we expected.
Gosh, this movie was a childhood staple. Right after Spider-Man (2002), I jumped right into Spider-Man 2 and BOY WAS IT BEAUTIFUL FROM START TO FINISH Thank you guys for reacting to this classic. No wonder you guys are my favorites ❤😊
This one was such an amazing sequel, they dialed up the action and the emotional depth of these characters. And man…that train sequence is something else 😍 You guys are the absolute best! Thank you for the love ❤️
The hot take is MJ should've stood by her fiance and Peter should've gotten together with the landlord's daughter :) Or Elizabeth Banks, man she can turn down my request for a cash advance any day!
Sam Raimi IS a fan himself. That made a big difference on every level. He mostly did it for himself. You can feel the passion in every aspect ; the visual, character building, casting, rythm, the balance between story telling and pure action scenes. This movie will never age. Thanks Mr Raimi for this masterpiece.
That's why so many modern superhero movies fall short: they're being made by people who don't know anything about the source material and who are being told by production companies not to learn anything about the source material.
This movie is 20 years old and still we haven’t seen a spider man fight since that incorporates spidey’s agility and spider sense as well as spidey 2 does. The newer movies all use some slow down for the spidey sense or don’t showcase his agility. It really shows how much raimi understands the character
Fun Fact, the African American gentleman you see in the front of the train where Spider-Man slows it down is Phil LaMarr whose best known for being the voice of John Stewart Green Lantern from Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Static from Static Shock, Samurai Jack, Kotal Kahn from Mortal Kombat X & 11 and Geras from MK1.
I love this movie so much. The rent scenes always get me. When this came out I had just moved back in with my parents because I couldn’t afford to make it on my own. My parents charged me rent to stay with them (albeit at a much lower rate than I had been paying) and i watched this with them. So after that my dad would quote “I have ears like a cat and eyes of a rodent!” Before any of you slam my parents for charging me rent, I was 24 and moved back home so it was reasonable. And they were awesome because they actually put it all into an interest bearing account. When I was ready to move out again 2 years later they gave me everything I had paid plus interest!
This is without a doubt one of my favourite Spider-Man sequels of all time. The train fight sequence was so well done and I’m really happy that Sam Raimi made a good choice to cast Alfred Molina to play Doc Ock.
This is by far, the most iconic superhero movie, we empathize with Peter, because at some point of our lives, we had those dificult situations like a snowball efect: pay rent, bills, the college, get on time to the job and so. Fact: The kids that gave peter's mask in the train, both are Tobey's stepbrothers.
Yay. So glad that you guys are reacting to one of the best Spider-Man films. A part of me loves how much this movie captures the hardships that also comes with being a superhero, and that it can sometimes be a thankless job and just suck. lol. Something I’ve felt like the MCU had lacked for their Spider-Man, and plenty of their other heroes.
"I heard spider-man was there" 👀 love that little detail of him secretly knowing deep down. This movie isn't just the best spider-man movie but maybe the best comic book movie ever made from the transitions, to the writing and comic book shots was just perfect. Also damn everything from 35:45 to 37:48 was the toughest watch ever, Peter really went thru it this movie. Lastly 1:00:13 the best transition in comic movie history, peak cinema.
Yeah, Just The opening gets you hyped as hell, what a opening dude. Fantastic. Shout out to The legends Tobey maguire, Alfred Molina, William Defoe and obviously Sam Raimi they did this franchise so legendary. Thanks for The reactions as always Guys
some of the new marvel movies need to remember their roots. this is a sequel deserving of any movie. ups the stakes of the first one while staying true to the style. might be a top 5 movie for me. glad you guys are getting to experience these again!
While it *is* rough that Connors threatens to fail Peter, he also mentions that the paper is long overdue and Peter admits he hasn't even started it yet - despite this, Connors is still willing to provide Peter with some leeway and is still willing to take the paper in late and grade it. This would be extremely rare at a university. Clearly, Connors recognizes that Peter is struggling somehow in life and is doing what he can to give Peter a break. Indeed, Connors is the first one shown in the movie trying to help Peter out.
I love that Doc Ock tosses the car through the window at the coffee shop at **Peter** "Average Ordinary Guy" *Parker** who is definitely *not* Spider-Man. Lol
It is so fun to revisit this with the both of you. The movies were a huge part of my childhood and I'll always watch them whenever I'm feeling particularly nostalgic.
49:00 I love that as a character beat for Harry- it’s his whole struggle in microcosm. He’s so consumed by revenge that he only realizes when it’s JUST too late to matter that he doesn’t actually want Peter in pain.
The little kid helping Peter in the fire after he helped her is just adorable 🥲🥲❤❤ And so is the girl who offers him chocolate cake afterwards. I think she and Peter would make the sweetest couple!
Alfred Molina is one of my favorite actors, he has voiced the character of Abnur Tharn, Imperial Battlemage in the Elder Scrolls Online since it released, until the character's heroic death in the Elsweyr expansion in 2019, and he put just as much passion into that voice work as he does in live acting. Players were devastated when they got to that point in the story where he sacrifices himself to save them, because Abnur Tharn has always been a grumpy, taciturn, but well-meaning "dad" figure. Like that line in Hot Tub Time Machine- "He's a asshole, but he's _our_ asshole"
I love how Sam Raimi modeled his Spider-Man trilogy after the Donner-Reeve Superman trilogy. In Superman, he has to choose between saving Lois Lane, or the entire West Coast with the missiles, and it’s his origin story. His dad dies of a heart attack, and says with all of his powers he is meant for something great. In Spider-Man, he has to choose between Mary Jane, and a cable car full of kids, and his origin story is told with his uncle Ben dying, telling him “with great power comes great responsibility.” In Superman II, he gives up his powers to be with Lois Lane, then has to get them back to stop Zod. In Spider-Man 2, he gives up his powers to be Mary Jane, then has to get them back to stop Doc Ock. In Superman III, he has to fight his dark side, so Superman fights Black Kryptonite Superman (metaphorically). In Spider-Man 3, Peter has to fight the black symbiote Spider-Man, his dark side.
Bro just watching Peter suffer day by day in his personal life , just because he choosed to be good and help people, and that's what he get in return just brake my heart... There is always be one Peter Parker / Spider-man the og Tobey Maguire 🤙✌️🔥
Fun fact, in the novelization of the film, during the train fight scene, Peter is punching with such force that he's knocking Otto unconscious with every punch, but the arms are just waking him up in the split second before he actually falls
One of my favorite movies of all time. So much memories since this is the very first movie I ever watched in the movie theatre and I was 5 years old. So many great moments that I can't even choose. I love everything about this movie. From the action scenes to the drama. So happt to see you 2 finally react to the movie.
1:13:37 Recall how earlier in the film, Otto said that his monstrous arms should be in the bottom of the river…along with himself. This is that being fulfilled. Otto wanted his last act to be of sacrifice, but after that, he probably just didn’t fight it, and accepted his fate. That’s why he said that HE would drown it, that’s the moment he accepted it.
Doc Ock is one of my fav villains in any movie. Which fun fact: each of his tentacles has a name. The names being Flo, Moe, Harry, and Larry. Flo being the top left one and the leader of the tentacles.
Fun fact: the black dude on the right that helps save Peter from falling off the train is the voice actor for samurai jack, John Stewart’s green lantern from justice league the animated series, and static shock👌🏾
oh my god, these films were an amazing part of childhood😁 i'm glad to see you guys feel the same way that a lot of people must feel when re-watching these
36:37 The irony of John Jameson being "Elijah" is that he actually becomes Man-Wolf in the comics (what would Klaus say). He was also briefly married to She-Hulk, which sent his father on a rampage until she told him she would help sue Spider-Man for emotional distress. As for your Harry Analysis, notice that he saw his father in the mirror as Norman saw the Goblin convincing them of what to do with Spider-Man. For Harry, it wasn't another side of himself over the edge.
My favorite hero back at it with my favorite content creators! I've never smiled so hard seeing an upload from you guys, you're my comfort zone. I know someone as suggested this movie before, but Ill add to it! The Wild Robot is such a heartfelt, and tearful animation, one of DreamWorks best so far! The story and animation is sooo beautiful, and I think you guys would thoroughly enjoy it!! Loved sitting with you both for another fun filled ride, can't wait for the next one! Luv you ya goofy Knights! ❤
That warms our hearts! We’re so glad you guys are enjoying these. We’ve got “The Wild Robot” on our list! Been hearing nothing but great things about that film. Wishing you an amazing weekend! ❤️
One thing a lot people dont understand is that He doesnt get his powers back because Mary Jane was kidnapped, but because he gave up on her saying he doesnt love her. It was like sacrifice the thing Peter Parker wanted most for the responsability of being Spider Man
Watching the fight sequences, I'm reminded of how much Spider-Man holds back his real strength. In the comics, Doc Ock takes over Peter's body and, after having punched the jaw off one of Spidey's supervillains, muses that Peter could've obliterated any of them with little effort. I love this movie, and your reaction and analysis is great.
It's funny cause on any normal day, Otto's appendages would be a technical marvel in their own right but are still overshadowed by the sheer scope and dream of his energy goals. Also the scene in the coffee shop is AMAZING but if Otto wasn't trying to kill Peter he was doing a TERRIBLE job xD.
the only thing slightly redeeming about the last-second ditch at the wedding was that she found out the truth like the night before... but yea lol, you really shouldn't get married if you don't love the person, like settling for someone when you know you love someone else is kinda messed up.
I’m not really knowledgeable about comics books, but is this the start of MJ becoming toxic? I heard that at the start she is a very great character in comics but lately her character often portrayed as one of Peter’s source of suffering in his life.
@@voratittchunharuckchot9711 Honestly, there's a couple things at work I think... some of it is the reality of comic book writing, i.e. some writers don't handle the canon well... as seen in pretty much all of recent Batman comics since Snyder stopped writing... they take foundational lore and tweak it to their own personal preferences and create senseless drama just for sales... the other thing I think is at work is that at Peter's core, he was in love with Gwen. MJ is always gonna be who he "settled" for and as such their relationship is sorta weird, and oftentimes in the comics it is reduced to being primarily sexual in nature, which I think is tricky because then when people try to make her like a real character it's harder to suss out what direction or role the character should take in the story (obviously just my personal opinion)... all these criticisms are slightly out of date though, as I haven't read a recent spiderman since Superior Spiderman ended, so if she's recently gotten worse or more "toxic" I can't personally comment on it.
56:37 Bruh that camera going through the glass window was a cool ass shot, literally the first time im noticing it lol. No need to do it but Sam Raimi just couldnt settle for simple shots.
This movie hits me harder every time I watch it. That speech from aunt may in the back yard with Peter still hits me every time. Ive carried it with me to just “ hold on a second longer “and the “ I believe there is a hero in all of us “ . Love this movie so much
You two probably figured it out already. Which my best friend at the time could not. "Why can't he make webs, it's a chemical process!" Yeah, but your body's processes are regulated by your emotional state and Peter... is in a DARK place. His powers are being hampered by the depression he's likely feeling in this time of his life. A lot of self-pity, a lot of self-doubt. But with great power-- eh, you know the line.
After two decades of superher films, this one is still the best one ever made. TDK is something with the symbol it carries about post 9/11 fictions, The Indestructible is a hell of a ride, Sin City is maybe the most faithful (I recommand!) and the last Spider-Verse movie with Miles are a love letter to the caracter, comic books in general and a pure lesson in term of rythme and editing (cannot wait for the third). But THIS is STILL the final boss. What this movie can tell you about the social relationship between Peter and the rest of the world aka the love interest, the city to protect, the family that hold you, the vilain to fight, the friend you loose, in only 2h is mind blowing. It's the rooftop of comic hero adaptation, hands down.
I would certainly put X2 up there also; if I had to pick a "category" of achievement outside of simple quality, the depth of exploration of backstories and motivations for multiple characters in multiple factions was fascinating. Plus one of the coolest scenes of super(villain)power usage ever :)
My favorite reactors by far. Yall seem to be one of the only channels that actually get into the movies and really WATCH them, not just passively commenting and uploading for views ❤
This movie has many emotional moments. One of them is when Peter said "I will be always Spiderman, you and i can never be...." And then when the close up shots Peter on crane watching MJ coupled and put on Mask with teary eyes and then turned back to see one last time before swinging away, omg, gives me goosebumps with that score, like he could have what he wanted, but he choose his destiny to be Spiderman, the choice, sacrifice, Raimi really understood, man.
Also this is The best aunt may too. That lady So adorable. 11:02 and its already so emotional. This part is always emotional when visiting this movie showing how much she cares for Peter and uncle Ben
One of my fave and one of the best Superhero films of all time that still holds up. The fight scenes and the emotionality of the subway fight are top tier.
Bill Nunn’s statement right there at 29:21 seals the awareness of who Peter is, but is totally unwilling to admit it publicly for the sake of protecting him. Amazing cast that works wonders in this amazing sequel!
I've been waited for you guys watch this since your reaction for first one was posted! No doubt this is one of the greatest superhero movie ever made, and I'm so glad to see you two enjoy this truly masterpiece! Satisfied so well😊

i had no idea I'd tear up like 4 times during this reaction, this movie hits way harder than I remember 😭
It's these types of ordinary moments that I really miss from modern MCU films. It's just so raw.
He probably went and bought a big bottle of liquor with Aunt May's bill money knowing Tobey MacGuire
“ I will not die a monster.”
That line has always hit so hard for me. That is one line from a movie I will never forget.

A black man turns around? Oh. It said man in black. My bad.
"I'm back! I'm back!"

J.K. Simmons was the one and only choice to be J. Jonah Jameson, perfect casting
As a fan of the 60's cartoons growing up, my jaw hit the floor with that casting choice. No way that performance could be reproduced but here we are.
To a point that the MCU could not replace him 🤣
It took home the Oscar for Best Visual Effects!
Not surprised! This looked amazing 😃
16:18 others have probably mentioned it, but him either having limited focus or money, and mixing both loads of laundry up, and subsequently messing up his normal clothes...was a nice metaphor for how his life is going

Spider-Man 2 is at a level of operatic camp that I WISH the MCU movies had. It’s Superman mashed up with Frankenstein and Evil Dead. For a sequel, it’s such an epic story in and of itself. It’s still the best Spider-Man movie.

There's good camp and bad camp, and Sam Raimi does very good camp
@ Agreed
No way Home, and into the Spider-Verse are also my top ones as well.
NOBODY has a better panic scream than Maguire.
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
Somehow doc oc did both 😅
"I will not die a monster." - Dr. Otto Octavius
The best type of character.
Just... GAH 😆
She is and has always been my Aunt May.
Such an iconic portrayal of an iconic and endearing character like May Parker.
I think part of the reason I loved Miles Morales's "you can be the mask!" final voiceover in Into the Spider-verse is it made me think of "I believe there's a hero in all of us." I will remember her saying that forever.
@@jerodast That is a really good similarity. Miles Morales' life philosophy and Peter Parker's are very similar in tone.
This film is to Marvel what The Dark Knight is to DC.
Exceptionally elevated in every way. The writing and directing in this is phenomenal.
I’ve always been head over heels for this version of Peter Parker. There’s so much charm to his timidity.🥰
I think we actually prefer Spider-Man 2’s variation of the score! Can’t wait to hear 3. He added a lot more dynamics to an already great track
@@OfficialMediaKnights Please also do the amazing spiderman movies after spiderman 3 🙏
Most insightful reaction and commentary channel on the platform, keep going guys 💯
Aw man! Thank you so much for the massive compliment, it means the world ❤️🙏
Apparently one of the things that got Alfred Molina interested in the role of Doc Ock was the character's sardonic sense of humor. You can really tell how much fun he's having delivering the "butterfingers" line and the "you have a train to catch"
Much like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, RDJ as Iron Man, Kelsey Grammer as Beast,
Alfred Molina was perfect casting for Dr Octopus
But also logically speaking… how is Otto even alive?!
The reason why Peter doesn’t tell Harry is because he is protecting Harry from the knowledge that his dad was a psychopath.
Correction, that his dad had a psychopathic dissociative identity/alter.
“Please don’t tell harry.” *dies*
Gimme Rentt
In my honest opinion you can add Blade 2 to that list.
Exactly dude. This and The dark Knight ARE THE Goats for real
"Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need? ...What am I supposed to do?"
This movie won the best visual effects in the 2005 oscars. WELL DESERVED
Oh SO well deserved, the work they accomplished was incredible!!
Absolutely! They did an amazing job with the visuals ❤️
This Aunt may was almost like having a Grandma growing up 🥹❤️
Aww man! She’s so sweet!
20 years old movie. Man, I am feeling my age now haha! Saw this with my mother back in theaters when it first came out. Loved this one so much!
This was such an epic film and a great story not just for Spidey but also for Peter ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights Could not agree more! Really enjoyed it seeing it again with you both. Love you guys! Happy Holidays!
Gosh, this movie was a childhood staple. Right after Spider-Man (2002), I jumped right into Spider-Man 2 and BOY WAS IT BEAUTIFUL FROM START TO FINISH
Thank you guys for reacting to this classic. No wonder you guys are my favorites ❤😊
This one was such an amazing sequel, they dialed up the action and the emotional depth of these characters. And man…that train sequence is something else 😍 You guys are the absolute best! Thank you for the love ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights and DO NOT get me started on that damn hospital scene😱
I hated that scene so much, I was traumatized for years
Haha love seeing Raimi give us some of that horror spice he’s known for!
@@OfficialMediaKnights you said it!
I really do feel bad for the guy who got brutally ditched by MJ. That guy deserved better
I get what they were trying to do for her portrayal but I HATED her in this movie....
Bro Mary Jane A Bop
The hot take is MJ should've stood by her fiance and Peter should've gotten together with the landlord's daughter :)
Or Elizabeth Banks, man she can turn down my request for a cash advance any day!
In the comics he is the spider man villain man-wolf
@@jerodastin the comics betty and Peter do briefly date but sadly her brother gets killed and she blames spiderman for it
Sam Raimi IS a fan himself.
54:45 "around the same height" absolutely killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact, the African American gentleman you see in the front of the train where Spider-Man slows it down is Phil LaMarr whose best known for being the voice of John Stewart Green Lantern from Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Static from Static Shock, Samurai Jack, Kotal Kahn from Mortal Kombat X & 11 and Geras from MK1.
Also Hermes in Futurama and Marvin (the guy who's accidentally shot in the head) in Pulp Fiction.
the girl with the cake scene happens at the perfect moment for Peter. He is reminded of the humanity he is sacrificing himself for.
I love how small detail on whenever Dr. Ock needed to pick up something heavy, one of his tentacles always gripping for stability.
I love this movie so much. The rent scenes always get me. When this came out I had just moved back in with my parents because I couldn’t afford to make it on my own. My parents charged me rent to stay with them (albeit at a much lower rate than I had been paying) and i watched this with them. So after that my dad would quote “I have ears like a cat and eyes of a rodent!”
Before any of you slam my parents for charging me rent, I was 24 and moved back home so it was reasonable.
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock is such a perfect pick. Can’t imagine anyone else in that role now. He played the character with so much depth ❤️
This movie, made me a huge spiderman fan! was one of the best superhero movies at that time.
This one was incredible! The more personal approach to Peter’s life and his struggles was exactly what we needed.
This is by far, the most iconic superhero movie, we empathize with Peter, because at some point of our lives, we had those dificult situations like a snowball efect: pay rent, bills, the college, get on time to the job and so.
Fact:
The kids that gave peter's mask in the train, both are Tobey's stepbrothers.
Rosemary Harris will always be THE Aunt May to me. She’s perfect.
Thank you for watching these with us! It means a lot to us and it makes us extremely happy to see you guys enjoy them ❤️
49:00 I love that as a character beat for Harry- it’s his whole struggle in microcosm. He’s so consumed by revenge that he only realizes when it’s JUST too late to matter that he doesn’t actually want Peter in pain.
54:15 I can't describe how much that scene means to me. What Aunt May says has helped me a lot personally since I was a kid.
Hell yeah the best Spider-Man movie ever!! The train sequence never gets old :)
Ahhhh that train sequence is AMAZING!!!
Harry: Don't hurt Peter!!
Doc Ock proceeds to throw a car at him in a cafe.
We all love Henry as Superman but. I think Reeves gave us the best Kent
@@jaythomas3224 not Reeves slander by any means, but I really loved watching Tom Welling as Clark for 10 seasons of Smallville
27:02 The Doc Ock hospital scene is one of the most chilling and most iconic scenes in cinema. It would have been more great if it was R18.
It's always hard to watch for me. Those surgeons were only there to help, but the unfeeling AI wouldn't abandon its directive.
TOBEY MAGUIRE IS THE BEST SPIDER-MAN!!!!
We love seeing all the love for his Spidey ❤️
The fact that spidermam is ALWAYS holding back his true strength 😂😂
Fun fact: the black dude on the right that helps save Peter from falling off the train is the voice actor for samurai jack, John Stewart’s green lantern from justice league the animated series, and static shock👌🏾
oh my god, these films were an amazing part of childhood😁 i'm glad to see you guys feel the same way that a lot of people must feel when re-watching these
These movies mean so much to so many! It’s been an absolute pleasure sharing these with all of you ❤️
@OfficialMediaKnights 😃
Absolutely love the transition scene of Spidey swinging reflected on Doc Ock's shades
The scene where Doc Ock hurls a car at Peter Parker has always seemed illogical to me.
Somehow he expected Peter to survive that? 😂 But hey it gave us such an iconic scene.
Yeah, Peter A. Parker's version of it made more sense in _Spider-verse_ :) Sometimes now when I rewatch this movie I expect him to punch the car...
One thing a lot people dont understand is that He doesnt get his powers back because Mary Jane was kidnapped, but because he gave up on her saying he doesnt love her. It was like sacrifice the thing Peter Parker wanted most for the responsability of being Spider Man
28:22
That scene of Otto yelling is so similar to Darth Vader yelling when the emperor tells him he killed Padme in his rage fit
The irony is that Spider-Man 2 (2004) came out before Revenge of the Sith (2005).
"Update, generous benefactor: I accidentally squashed Parker. No clue where Spider-man is. I'm gonna take that tritium now anyway."
One of the only channels I genuinely look forward to reactions from
the only thing slightly redeeming about the last-second ditch at the wedding was that she found out the truth like the night before... but yea lol, you really shouldn't get married if you don't love the person, like settling for someone when you know you love someone else is kinda messed up.
Best original Spider-Man sequel ever!
"Why can't he make webs, it's a chemical process!"
Yeah, but your body's processes are regulated by your emotional state and Peter... is in a DARK place.
His powers are being hampered by the depression he's likely feeling in this time of his life.
A lot of self-pity, a lot of self-doubt.
But with great power-- eh, you know the line.
NOW this reignites an old childhood memory. That train scene broke my mind, and remains iconic.
36:25 and I thought I was going to have to fanboy over Elijah by myself
Yeah, not the kind of character Robert Downey Jr could flirt with . . . .
One of my fave and one of the best Superhero films of all time that still holds up. The fight scenes and the emotionality of the subway fight are top tier.
*remembering that this movie is 20 years old
Just like Peter "Maguire" Parker says : MY BACK....
i love your reaction videos, you guys are really into the way they make movies and color grade and everything, love watching you guys.
Bill Nunn’s statement right there at 29:21 seals the awareness of who Peter is, but is totally unwilling to admit it publicly for the sake of protecting him. Amazing cast that works wonders in this amazing sequel!
