  • A very nice unit. Contained a horrific surprise.
NO MEAN COMMENTS PLEASE. (I'm know I'm being bad).
I do have an electronics background.
Even in the condition it's in, it was still worth the price I paid. I'll probably strip some STK's off one of my other Sharp units.
I was seriously worried something else on that amp board would pop while filming.

Nice receiver. It has problems but it's all fixable. I would buy replacement STK's and fix it.
You can't expect money back for that 1 year after the transaction and it was sold as-is.
Maybe the seller mis-represented it but too much time has lapsed.

When I purchase electronics off of eBay I "ALWAYS" purchase the "WARRANTY" offered before buying.

Roll of the dice with Ebay. Still a nice receiver once you get the issue sorted out. I recently bought a Yamaha rx-v850 listed for parts not working and untested. $21 free shipping. Alittle beat up but to my surprise it worked perfectly. Which ive noticed most of the time when listed as parts not working when i receive it its either worked or was a minor fix.

I agree. Optimism goes a long way, but reality is just out there lurking..

Putt it back together, clean up the outside and put it on your stereo rack for looks. I have got things that the box looks like it had been in a kicking contest. The whole corner of the receiver is bent where it has hit something hard. Some of the front buttons are pushed in and won't come back out. After taking the cover off there is no way to push them back out because there is a board blocking it. Let it go. After a point it is just polishing a turd. Figure about fifty percent chance of something being OK.

I just bought a Sansui 800 on ebay and the seller said it worked but he hasn't "replaced any caps". I got it and it has crackling noise in one channel all the time. I am sure he knew this but it wouldn't sell if he said it has noise. Lame. Next time I'll ask more questions.

They don't test the gear. Before I sell, I run the equipment for a week. My listings are quite informative. I"m currently running a 100% feedback after 22 years on Ebay. It's because I give a damn. Good luck on getting it back up to snuff.

@@Magnusaudiofighter It's hard to find people around me that work on old stuff, or even know how.

Yes, many criminals on good ol EBAY. And always or 99% of time "seller does not accept returns" If you do not see a pic of everything inside and out, beware............You have a dim light tester, so you know something about Stereos. Looks like a 25 dollar special. No sense fighting it. No....................there is worse than this. Enjoyed this and what you had to say.

This is actually a "scarce" receiver. As I mentioned in my video, it's still worth more than I paid for it ,in this condition. I've been running it out in the shop for over 24 hrs. It sounds good with the Yamaha amp it's connected to through tape out. No drifting, no burning components. I have decided that I'll keep an eye out for the STK's. Thanks for commenting.

definitely a crapshoot. I won't purchase from sellers that have thousands of sales and 50+ negatives. They don't care, and neither does Ebay.

First visit. SHorten your narrative. Your 18 minute video could have been easily done in 5 or 6 minutes. ALso, it was hard to hear you, when you had the station on, too loudly.

Thanks for the advice. I think if I better used the time, I wouldn't have to shorten the narrative. I'm still learning. To me, the delivery is just as important as the content. I'll take this into consideration. (Narrative is a high concept word.)
