- Ventnor Main Carnival 2023 and I was lucky enough to be there as Claire and Cerys Brown arranged for my transport as I am recovering from pneumonia and I get very fatigued
What a great carnival - the sun shone and the streets buzzed - thank goodness as Newport Main and all three Shanklin carnivals were lost to bad weather.

I am the #GoliveGranny and love to share things about the #IsleofWight where I have lived since 1990 when I moved from West London. I was frustrated that the people who run the organisation that is tasked with marketing the island do not believe in YOU Tube. My son decided to teach me to live stream at almost age 66 in August 2016. Pre-pandemic we had thousands of people across the globe watching our carnivals - many were originally live-streamed on Facebook on my go-live granny page and my Isleofwight.live page.
When I started live streaming hardly anyone was live streaming and I had no issues with the signal but these days so many people go live on tik tok/Instagram/facebook etc that the signal is not so strong and the viewing experience is compromised. So I livestream before the event and then record on video during the actual parade and upload to youtube later and then share and encourage others to share.
Since Covid, we have had to start rebuilding the audience and bring the joy of carnival to people around the world again. If you have enjoyed our carnival please share so others can see what we get up to on our beautiful Isle of Wight
