😂😂😂😂 Hilarious! I am Italian but know some English and your “translation” is just brilliant! This shows how my dad’s generation, who didn’t know English but still enjoyed American music, would only “imitate” the sounds they heard, without knowing the language. My dad, who played in a band in the Seventies, still laughs at it! And as you also said, Celentano had a provocative intent when writing the song. Thank you, very interesting!
Iʻm laughing now imagining what might have happened if this song made it to the US back then. The FBI probably would have wound up investigating it like ʻLouie Louieʻ.

There would be international outrage 😂
A lyrical masterpiece, it truly touched the deepest part of my soul. The most influential line for me personally is "poke something". It really made me take a step back and reevaluate myself.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It reminded me of myself between 19 and about 32. Though sexual active between 16 and now 40, those 13 years this one line was my life. "Poke something!"

I truly believe it would lead to world peace. Or lead the world to pieces.... Actually, I love this.

You’re a brilliant interpreter with great insight. The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it because the lyrics are so baroque and alien (like me). It took several days for me to puzzle out enunciation of the very title, having researched the history of the song and the artist. Learning the lyrics was a nonstarter until now. Thank you so much Elika!

Dirty badass groove this song has... the song was way ahead of its time - it really doesn't sound like something from the 70's. The initial analysis is spot on really, he was trying to sound like how Bob Dylan and other similar artists of the time sounded to him. He has said in the past it's about "universal love". I feel if we all transcribed how the gobbledegook lyrics sound like to us - we'd all come out with something wildly different, there are some pretty funny ones out there. Everyone should hear this song.
A lot of Euro late 60s/70s music sounds like this.
Look up french yeye for more clarification
It sounds exactly like something from the 70's, how do you figure that it's ahead of its time?
@@FlaxeMusic To me it doesn't sound anything like any other 70's music I know of, especially 72 when this was from. If you think it does then fair play to you, but to me it doesn't.
"dirty badass groove" it's definitely "kinky" sounding.
I'm American but I just wanted to quickly confirm that you nailed it. 100% if your translation is correct. Well done.
Haha, you sound like a fool. There's no "translation" because the singer literally just wrote gibberish that he thought sounded English. The actual lyrics are 0% like the ones on screen
I live near a colour shop and the owner did die. I think you’re onto something here. Marvellous work - keep going.
Your interpretation is brilliant. It frames this song in a unique way that gives meaning to gibberish. Poke something? Awesome!
5 stars. I love this song, glad someone else is as nuts about it!
although it’s gibrish, your translation is pretty good. he reallysounds like he’s singing to the subtitles.

That iconic harmonica solo is just devastating!
Amazing how this song that basically says nothing is still better than 99% of modern music and with more meaning. What a weird world.
Have you seen the black and white dancing video they also made of this song? The "marching discotheque" vibe of that one really brings that slightly terrifying feeling you mentioned to the forefront.
I want to go around using "Eyes." as a self-contained statement now because of this song.
i have many times yes!! youre so right, the black and white one is much more unsettling. something about the lipsyncing feels so off too haha. also you should totally use "eyes" - some friends and i have adopted it as a self-contained statement and its sooo good. we also like to swap out similar words (like "eggs") but said in the same way as "eyes" and it really works for us haha
@@lander-landed Iʻve also been practicing that magnificently extended tongue roll for certain occasions.
The thing I like about the black and white video (which was how I first heard this song) is the dancing is *so* stiff, so choreographed to within an inch of its life, but everyone on screen is throwing absolutely EVERYTHING they have into that performance. That thing she does with her arms after her solo, in particular.
If I had not known the age of this video, my first instinct would have been to consider it a commentary on the quality of education in the US currently. He would not be so terribly out of place here talking to students that way, especially in Texas.
Remember the “Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom” dance? 🦡

Great translation and interpretation! I’m a 59yo Italian living in AU for the last 30 years and remember this video with great fondness, very catchy tune. I’d like to add that Celentano is a very unusual but very likeable character and a very accomplished actor having made a few Italian movies most of them comedy.
ah I never watched further than the first bit and now I finally did. Haha Ella. I couldn't agree more with the "love him, but he also scares me" bit. And oh my his wife is so cool. I legit realized about ten minutes before you said it, that it was her.

To land a juicy gnaw w/ door

And love a form
What a glide sustained

I can't get this song out of my head either. It's ridiculous
I agree completely with your analysis on the diesel lyric line and the rest of the majority of your analysis. God bless you!
Utterly fan bloody tastic I loved this track way back when such a groove made no sense at all lol
The lyrics of Prisencolinensinainciusol are clearly a meditation on love and loss: whether it's more tragic to slowly grow apart, passion withering in frost as lovers fade into mutually unrecognizable shadows of their former selves, or to suffer a sudden, devastating breakup, but at least know that your beloved is out there, somewhere, living their best life, even if it is with someone else. And like so many other profound works, Prisencolinensinainciusol is framed by the existential angst of being condemned to a tragically brief lifespan in a cold, unfeeling universe.
You have a beautiful mind. All songs are layered (any worth listening to or talking about that is) and have multiple meanings yet underpinning all communication vibrationally is intent. I feel there is as well a very cohesive thread to this song aside from it being known to be complete gibberish. Love that harmonica solo at the end.
I always used to sing this: "My eyes lie senseless.... and I think I'm going hazel.... eyes! You're a cold maid to say one.... prisencolinensinainciusol, alright!!"
I just came here for some better "lyrics" then what google gave me and I got that, but I have to say every bit of this video is gold. I really got way more then I bargained for when I looked this up thanks you not only for the good "lyrics" but for the very amazing analysis ^_^
This song isn't really in any language. He wanted it to sound like English.
Just stumbled across this gem & I’ve never heard/scene anything so original in my life. I wish him & Prince could’ve done some sort of collaboration together !
This is the funniest ‘translation’ I have ever seen of any gibberish song. I’ve heard of lipsync but you have invented lyric-sync. Brilliant! Well Done!
Just found this song. Dude has some moves. Catchy as hell for being gibberish.
This is brilliant. I feel the same way about this song.. and you delving into the possible latent meaning of these perceived English lyrics is just awesome.
Elika Lander, I know this song from the 70's. I am 63 years old and I know this singer from the old times. He is original, unique and one of a kind in the world. I am of italian origin and he is from Italy. He is an activist for animals and nature. Like Greta Thumberg. Plus he is an activist for maltreatments of humans and animals. For years he has been speaking out publicly about this. I love this guy so much. This song tops off the cake. It's for the whole world to understand even if you don't understand his language. The music, and beat says it all. I Never get tired of it. It will never die.
If you get past the crazy words, this song is amazing!!
This was an awesome analysis (yes, I went looking for one)! I have to say that I'm in the US and I heard the song for the first time on the American FX TV series Trust. I did feel like the song was in Italian bc I couldn't discern the English. Very clever ear trickery 😂. The video was icing on the cake.
What a beautiful memory from my childhood!!!!!! ❤️A verry great artist! 👋👋👋👋👋
Hello Elika! I really enjoyed your analysis. Very nice! About the title, it has always struck me as perfectly understandable English with a meaning in your English version of the lyrics at that. Just swap the last two syllables for a clue: ciusol -> solcius -> Celcius (Centigrade). How about this: "Freezing cold in ninety-nine °Celcius" - which is nearly boiling water. I have seen relationships that could have fit that description at times! =D
Anyway. That’s my penny’s worth. =) Have a nice day and stay safe!
Ok. You did an amazing job. Lol. I love it. Hahaha. This guy is such a character. Thank you for this.

Great song and horns - great beat and rhythm.
I've stuck around for the analysis, fascinating! Thank you for taking the time, what a treat!
The craziest thing is the translation.😊 I had never ever.thought anout checking the lyrics and giving them a meaning knowing they were just gibberish more or less to state a point but you checked and analyzed them and found a story so bravo😊 (or in italian bravA)....
Also did you notice his arm mooves in perfect "pre-Tony Manero" style...
Thank you for this video, yet since it first came out ,I wondered, after a While I just LOVE listening to all of it, and your video, is great.
Your take on this is brilliant. I have this song in my exercise playlist. Gets me bouncing like no song since Love Shack!
Your analysis sounds logical to me. You reminded me of people "speaking jive" in the movie Airplane, but that got translated for us. Being a native American English speaker myself, I have difficulty understanding the lyrics of most songs in English. Performers are barfing out words in ways my brain just doesn't understand. It's all gibberish to me. At least with Prisencolinensinainciusol, I'm not missing anything while listening to it.
It’s amazing how a song made for a meme can be such a banger…
I never thought I’d ever see fanfiction based on a gibberish song but here we are.
I really appreciate this analysis - I may not agree but wow do I appreciate it

Just found this song today and I love your lyrics and analysis, the meaning you were able to extract from gibberish is a feat and I thank you for it XD
You did a great job, waiting for something like this. Love this song!
Fun fact. Italian singer Adriano Celentano released this song (with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English) to prove a point: Italians would like any English song.
It was a hit.
The beat is what makes this song rock
"You're a lightning shoestick of a man" is too good of a compliment, I'm stealing that and I hope you don't mind -

I love how much you overanalysized this
Thanks Ella! I've been looking for lyrics for this. Totally brilliant. I'm crying with laughter.
I can promise you I've never heard anything like this...
I created a phonic listening language. Which begins here and either deciphers the phonic linguistic code,(and this one does have one), or it stays here and simply rocks the unknown... Which is fine also.
Seems like the teacher came in drunk today...😂😂
If you listen to the spoken part at the beginning where Celentano is teaching the class - he says "Prisencolinensinainciusol" and the beginning part sounds like "Freezing cold in here". This is surely what Italians learning English think the English would say a lot. There are lots of cold references including the "Brrrr" - so I think the whole song is also poking fun of the English obsession with talking about the weather.
Total respect for this Chanel. One video, buts its a dam amazing one!
