    A youtuber built a similar 883 with a dyno run test before and after the upgrade. The final result was a tuner ($350+) , exhaust ($600+) and a K&N air filter ($50+). Basically he invested over $1000 in his upgrade and gained less than 3hp and a similar amount of torque. No disrespect intended as this person admits these upgrades are part of future plans, but thats alot of cash for the return. Keep in mind Hammer Performance offers a 1250 kit for apx $750 which delivers 40+ HP and a noticeable jump in torque.

    • @J2I3H
      @J2I3H 5 месяцев назад +2

      Here in Europe it costs more like €2000 for the 1250cc kit... But still, +3hp for €1000 is a waste. Do it for the looks and sound, then I understand.

    • @Hellbentbiker
      @Hellbentbiker 4 месяца назад +1

      Agreed, but correct me if I’m wrong, if you do the hammer performance kit (or any other kit for that matter)you still need a tuner, exhaust and intake.

    • @mrmatt7210
      @mrmatt7210 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Hellbentbiker You are correct. Peak performance would be achieved by choosing a performance based big bore kit, tuner, intake and exhaust. However, my point was somewhat missed (my fault). The video I referenced shares the owner invested over $1000 for a 3hp gain. A stock 883 will Dyno at apx 46hp, but this engine with a 1275 Hammer Performace conversion ($850) can achieve 85hp.
      These number do include the use of a stage 1 upgrade which include intake, tune and exhaust. Note, upgrading the heads from those included with an 883 can net performance gains up to 130+ hp. Choosing a big bore kit and a tuner ($250-$600) without upgrading the exhaust or intake will definitely prevent you from gaining the full potential of what's available, but you will still gain more than 3 hp. If an owner is pleased with the performance of their 883 (many people are) and wish to improve the looks and sound of their bike a stage 1 upgrade is a great option. However, if performance/torque is what's needed, a increase in displacement should be considered.

    • @Hellbentbiker
      @Hellbentbiker 4 месяца назад +1

      @@mrmatt7210 I’m in complete agreement, that’s why I said “agreed”
      My point, as you also pointed out is that the big bore kit will require a tuner, exhaust, and intake. Most, not all, but most people will also pay someone to install a big bore kit which adds to that cost. Still a better value though. Many get a stage 1 as a first step since it’s really required for big bore kits or even cams.
      People that aren’t planning a stage 2 or higher will definitely not see much hp/$ benefit and many times it just moves where the power comes in. Stage 1 is mostly just for looks, sound, and it’s DIY friendly.
      Plus many exhaust don’t perform very well either. Check out Hammers exhaust dyno comparison.
      We are saying the exact same thing. 👊🏻✌🏻🤘🏻

    I'm accustomed to bobber bikes and ride the freeway with them, love the raw feel of no fairing and a much lighter bike, it's also my main transport, except when it's heavy rain or lightning outside, or if I'm mentally and physically exhausted..then I'll take the car lol. But I've always wanted to pick up a newer-ish 883...purely just for the sound lol.
