Wheels are standard 12mm hex. So far, no issues with the diffs. One issue folks tend to have is with the driveshafts. They can get bound-up and break. But, I personally never had that happen.
Nice video man. I have one of this and i added some 30w shock oil in the shocks, added some wheel weights on the wheel and a mamba micro esc with a traxxas receiver and transmitter(i had them from older builds) and now it performs way better closer to my SCX10iii build. I also run it on 3s batteries with a tune on the esc
@@RoadsideRC the esc wont like it, and it has no cutoff stock for a lipo, if you get a heli or plane voltage monitor it will be okay or youll kill your battery
I just bought this today. Haven’t drove it. Hate to see that it doesn’t creep slowly. I need to buy another so me and my son can both crawl. Anything you recommend under $200 that flexes good?
Don't be put off by this video - this truck is REALLY GOOD! I did a video of some free mods to it: ruclips.net/video/lq42tIUzFqI/видео.html I then took it out to our local 1/10 crawler spot and it surprised me how well it did. Honestly, I am on the search right now for the best crawler under $250...and so far this ECX Temper Gen2 is still the best.
@@RoadsideRC great to hear! I drove it just now for 5 min and the steering quit working. It wines and won’t turn right and barely turns left. I turned it off and tried to turn the tires by hand and it makes a grinding noise like it’s skipping gears. I’ll run it back up to hobby town tomorrow to ask what’s going on
Sounds like the servo stripped. Good news is you get to upgrade. One of the cheapo $20, 25kg servos will be more than enough for this truck. That sucks, I am sorry to hear it stripped. Here is a link to the servo I would use: amzn.to/3yYA5yZ
@@RoadsideRC yes you were right. Getting the servo replaced now. The factory servo had plastic gears and didn’t last for longer than a minute. You would think being a gen2 they would have beefed it up. Glad it got it back in working order now.
Nice first look! I picked up one just as you did; on eBay box damaged for nearly half the price! I gotta get my first run vid done!🤔 Thanks for sharing!👍😊
I found a similar one on eBay that said used, had damaged box, but said “still sealed in manufactures box” are these brand new and only the box is damaged?
Pretty much nailed it with this review! I would add that the plastic driveshafts should be upgraded to metal ones and to add a bit of weight to the wheels.
@@RoadsideRC There are a few different aftermarket models out there but most people seem to dislike them. In the end I went with the metal replacement driveshafts for the 1/12 WLToys 12428. There was no trimming needed! Just make sure to use locktight for your grub screws to make sure the driveshaft doesn't slip off.
Heeeyyyyyy thanks for the shoutout. Keep up the great vids.

Yes sir! You are welcome. You have a nice one built there.
Nice run and review, can't wait to see what you do to it.
Mods are already in process!
@@RoadsideRC awesome
Looks so good, time for upgrades!
In process already! Free mods!
Things a beast.i had Temper 2 brushless ,savox ,put 1.9 on it.
Glad to hear it!
I am thinking of trying some different tires on it.
I have many questions regarding this crawler but mostly are the diffs built good enough to last? And also are the wheels 12mm standard hex? Thanks

Nice little crawler does well
Working on some.upgrades for it, then it should be even better.

After a few mods u gonna love this lil thing. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. Stay safe
Thanks for the info!
I also have an old traxxas RX/TX laying around. Just need the ESC.
Has the motor done OK on 3S power?
Thank you!
@@RoadsideRC so far yes. It doesn’t go fast and we are not on the throttle 100% so its been good.

@@RoadsideRC just ordered myself one of those ESC temp bro 👌 can't wait 😎🤘
Axial drive shafts can be used if you break these skinnys

Standard SCX10 style driveshafts?

Great truck from ecx, I’d like to see that vs the danchee

That does good
For the price, yes!
