It's a very good message, and it's so true. The animals will adapt to protect themselves, just like a human would! Declawing and defanging should be banned worldwide.
This is why I'll never understand de-clawing or de-fanging any animal. As someone who has physical disabilities, I feel that vulnerability and it's terrifying. And if I'm pushed into fighting for my safety (or feeling like I have to because of anxiety) I will fight with every last ounce of strength and with whatever ability I have left in that moment. That's how animals work and we are animals too.
The fact that you were still incredibly gentle with her during the bite says alot about how much you truly love these animals. I would never own this species, it belongs in the wild
I don’t understand why anyone would declaw or defang any animal. Humans certainly wouldn’t like it if we had our fingernails and teeth removed or whittled down, why would we do it to little dudes in our care. Never understood it. A few scratches are worth it. I had a feral cat growing up that I domesticated, but before she was “tamed” my mother wanted to get her declawed. Even as a kid I knew that would be a death sentence if she ever got lost, which she eventually did years later. I still miss her but I’m glad she was never declawed, I know it at least gave her a chance out there…
I’m so impressed with your intern and how she handled that scary scary situation. I’m sorry you both had to go through that. I’m glad she recovered and I’m glad the sugar boogers are safe.
I never even knew these animals existed until my aunt found one in her house in Costa Rica. This channel, along with others on RUclips, are great because they show people how these animals belong in the wild!
I learned this lesson years ago with cats. Many people who put their cats through the excruciatingly painful mutilation of declawing do it for an even worse reason: because their cat's ability to groom itself, protect itself, and move through its world the way it is supposed to is less important than keeping their furniture pretty. To be fair, many people who consider declawing think it's basically an aggressive nail trim, rather than amputation of the entire last joint. That's not an excuse, though, because a couple minutes of logical thinking would make it clear that simply cutting the nails extra short won't prevent them from growing back. It's true that the cat can no longer claw the furniture. However, since they can no longer use their first line of defense, they quickly learn to go straight to their second option. Anyone who has been bitten by a cat (I mean bites, not love nibbles) knows how much it sucks. The natural flora in a cat's mouth is nasty, and the puncture wound from small, sharp cat teeth means that bacteria is injected deep into your tissue. Every cat bite I've ever had was swollen and infected within a day or two. A coworker of mine endured multiple surgeries and ultimately lost full use of her hand when a cat's canine tooth punctured the joint capsule in her finger. And all you have to do to prevent that is NOT torture your "beloved" animal 🤷🏻♀️
I learned a lot from this video. I'm also happy that they still have some teeth back there (when defanged ) aswell as still have fingers (I thot full teeth & fingers were removed). This reminds me of a cat we used to have that was rescued. She was declawed & she was the MEANEST cat EVER. I always felt like she was like that bc she felt so powerless & needed to over compensate. Your such a blessing to these animals, even tho they bite, claw, have anxiety, ect, you still love them & take care of them to the best of your ability. You really are an angel!! Not everyone can do this job, I can see why you say they are not easy to take care of. I can DEFF see why now 😅 nonetheless, I still adore them & hopefully ppl will think twice about illegally keeping them as pets so none of these things happen to the animals or the humans purchasing them. They are much better off with someone who has experience, & the *CORRECT* knowledge to take care of them properly!!

Why are people buying these wild animals as pets? Why do we have a need for rescue??? Why can't humans admire the wildlife in its natural habitats? Thank you for all you do to rescue these precious animals and give them some kind of a life....i love watching them enjoy their lollies. ❤🎉
Thank you!!!!! I just found your channel, and I have never seen one of these beautiful animals. I hate to think of someone doing this to any animal. I dont believe in cutting tails of dogs for appearance, and all of the other crazy things that are done to animals, in order for them to fit a human created fashion statement. Ive seen cats that have been declawed, that are now crippled. Its cruel. I agree. If this is what you have to do, in order to have one....DON'T GET ONE!
If i have to go to senior housing and they insist on me declawing my senior cat..would it be kinder to euthenize if i cant rehome? I dont want to cause my precious senior baby a life of pain and trauma. I want to do what is best since i dont really have enough options. 💔🙏
i know that you love these animals and want the absolute best for them during your time with them. I would recommend to stop having the habit/feeling that you all are on a mutual level because these animals are very different from humans, they cannot communicate and comprehend our intentions for them and vice versa. Start wearing PPE when around them, and take precautions to prevent mishaps throughout their surroundings as well as yours. Everything is a learning curve, it should be treated as such until progressive knowledge is established for your team. I would not want to continue caring for them without proper protection for myself as well as people i bring into their environment. Afterall this is your home and you should be more on guard since they have been shown as unpredictable. Ultimately i hope my advice could serve as a remind to never let your guard down or become too attached/comfortable with animals that are not raised or brought up by you or your team. we have no way of telling 100% their emotion so that should be respected mutually. - I am an absolute fan and i support your mission, i too find kinkajous as cute and amazing creatures i wish them nothing but happiness and health. I wish you and your team safety, success and happiness.
I appreciate and wholeheartedly support the message about de-clawing/de-fanging ANY animal, but I don't think people should be obtaining wild animals ("exotic pets") and taking them out of their natural habitats in the first place. I'm all for sanctuaries, and I know there are obviously horrid people who go out and procure these poor wee animals for sale to people, but perhaps if the demand for these creatures decreased, there'd not be the incentive to go out and poach them in the first place. Sometimes, I know, it's more a case of trying to just save the animal once it has been taken, but it just makes me sad that people have this desire to "own" an animal just because it is considered "exotic" or a novelty. Leave nature to nature. That being said, thanks for trying to do right by all these poor wee creatures!

By the looks of your scratched up hands I see they're still biting ? For how freaking cute kinks are they are ruthless !
I agree with you. You deserve to be the advocate of these animals. I think God choose you to be their caregiver/caretaker. God bless.
If you’re so afraid of getting hurt by an animal that you would mutilate it then you should not own that animal. Period .

Poor baby. The things humans will do to other animals are horrible. 😢
They don’t last long if they get declawed and defanged 😢
My aunt name is Kiki😭
I just found your channel and I really really love it! I am proud of you and the work you do, keep your chin up and keep up the good work. 🩷
Poor babies
If you don’t want pets with fangs or claws, don’t have pets.
So basically they are wild animals that shouldn’t be kept at pets
This is why people shouldn't have wild animals as pets. 😔
