The first time I got arrested at a protest both my parents sat down with me and calmly asked what happened. I told them I was protesting against police brutality, they I didn’t hurt anybody or break anything, but needed to take a stand. They told me they were proud of me and I bawled my eyes out that night lmao, felt like the luckiest kid in the world.

A similar thing happened at my college campus yesterday. A peaceful protest attacked by police who arrested students and professors. They even had snipers set up on buildings around the campus, it's baffling how afraid they are of peaceful protestors

This professor was interfering with the police arrest. You do not get into the cops faces as she did. She could have shown her compassion from a distance. She gets the same treatment as anyone else. She is not entitled to anything different. You should play the whole video where she finally apologizes to the cop who tackled her to the ground after she refused to complain with his orders and took a swing at him. Mike Johnson encouraged this mess, and the administration capitulated and brought the cops in. This is a peaceful protest. Ridiculous. Those in power are counting on people forgetting the BS of cops vs. peaceful protests in the 1969s and 70s - or, they’ll say the 60s and 70s were peaceful, but these same style protests are not peaceful. Yep! I did quite a few protests in college 20 years ago. The difference between now and then - very few people were carrying pocket cameras (aka smart phones). People had cell phones but they didn't have cameras in them yet. One of the reasons Mumia isn't on death row now - the police brutality at those peaceful marches was documented and used as bargaining chips. The movement threatened to bring the footage to the media. Now the media has to be there or risk having people on social media getting more clicks than them. Unfortunately, they'll still try to twist it. 🙄

If a police officer decides that your under arrest you are legally bound to comply. If there was wrong doing, you take it up in court. Although I understand ppl have other things that concern them, but what is happening now is so wrong. If ppl say quiet and do nothing and it’s allowed to continue.
