As a 90s kid without cable tv, these commercials are heavily responsible for my music taste. I spend my saturday mornings watching them.
I had satellite TV and still watched this as a kid, lol.
I was born in 1989. Wbu? 😂🎉
Same
Same
Same!!! 1985
This brings a tear to my eyes lol. Commercials like this are what made Tears for Fears Everybody Wants to Rule the World my favorite song of all time and still is! It’s my favorite song not just because it was and is a great song, it’s my favorite song because when I’d be up late at night as a kid in the 90s I’d used hear it on these types of commercials All The TIME and it was like my closest friend lol.
These ads introduced me to many of these '80s artists. I remember that it was the first time i'd ever heard Rockwell 's "somebody's watching me".
That song reminds me of Real Genius with the popcorn exploded in the big house!
The last commercial...is the one I vividly remember, track by track. I can’t explain, you just know.
It was always on when I had Cartoon Network on.
I wish I could have skipped these commercials when I was a kid. Now, I’m watching it late at night cause I miss the nostalgia….Oh the irony.
I know right !!! Crazy how things turned out lol literally brings a certain nostalgic comfort
I completely agree with that
Watching at three am now is like seeing an old friend
I REMEMBER THIS COMMERCIAL EXACTLY AS I REMEMBER IT WHEN I WAS A 9 YEAR OLD BOY IN 1990 WHILE IT PLAYED LATE AT NIGHT ON TV.
With you brotha
This collection & the constant airing of these ads is what made me fall in love with '80s music! Just think, at the time, of the airing of these ads, these songs were less than 20 years old!
Finally, I found it...
The third batch, starting at about 5:26 is the one that I used to hear played most often. The way each song transitions to the next is still stuck in my head to this day.
OMG me too... And THANKS for reminding me of my crappy middle school years when these commercials played 🙄
Seeing you in this comment section is like finding royalty while, uh, looking up old commercials on Youube.
@Orpheusftw, me too!!
5:58 that transition from Der Kommissar into Tainted Love is legendary.
Ikr?
Yup! 👍👍🤘🤘
Man, seeing this brings back some wonderful 90s memories for me!!! This & the 80s Wave cds commercials are what made me fall in love with 80s music!!! I remember these songs just spoke to me on this whole other level! It was definitely love at first listen, & my romance with 80s music is still going strong, well over 20 years later!!!
Finally found these, I can remember late night on Cartoon Network these commercials would play.
I'll never forget these commercials from the 90's ❤❤❤
Me neither! I was in the 8th grade, when these ads began airing. Such wonderful days!!
80s kid /90s teen. I love that for me !!
I just relived every 1997 hungover on my friends couch at 2 am on the TV. 😂
I remember this old commercial so much i used never watched TV show but now I watch TV shows on my phone
I find it funny that these commercials are displaying the 80s as if it was long ago, but the 80s had just ended, they weren’t that long ago in 1994-1996.
Besides that, these songs are so awesome and timeless, and I will be forever ever pissed that I missed all this as I was born in the late 90s and that I can only enjoy these songs after the fact and not during their peak.
The music landscape had changed so much by 1994, so I can see how the’80s could be seen as retro by then.
Hey i was born in 1983, & i didn't hear most of these songs, until after the fact. I was introduced to many of these, through the ads.
Back when I was 17/18 y.o ....
And now I found it again after 13 years 😍😍😍😍😍😍
My left ear loves this commercial!
I still have this collection on cassette tape. I remember getting one each month in the mail. Lol
How old are you? X
The Gen-X nursing home soundtrack
Dgen X
Are you ready??
I am pushing 45😢
Yep I'm 47
I remember when this commercial would air in the 90s it seemed like the 80s were some ancient bizarro world. Needless to say that feels silly now.
It did feel like forever ago. Miss the 80s.
I know because it wasn’t that long ago back then. But sometimes the 90’s kinda felt like the 80’s
🙋
Oh yessssssss, the good old days of great music, for sure the 1980s are. Music of today are nothing like back then. This is still a great 1980s collection and there's no question about it.even if a few of these songs weren't your favorite they were still great to listen too. You're not going to find a better 1980s collection then here
From 5:48 on, that commercial been in the back of my mind for years! I perfectly remembered the songs that popped up and how they blended into the next! “Der Kommisars in town uh-OHHHH tainted loOoOve, taiiinted loOoOve”. Nostalgia!
Yes. There’s a version with the Sweet Dreams that I can’t find anywhere.
@@themightythor1160 I kinda remember that. I don’t think it was a time-life commercial, maybe Columbia house commercial, where they’d offer 8 cds for x amount. Who knows. it’s gotta be on RUclips somewhere. I screenshotted your username. If I ever find it, I’ll tag you
Me too
Same. That one is lodged in my head forever and is exactly why I searched for this video.
I'm sad to say how much effort I put into finding this
A few sellers have these cassettes and cds on eBay currently. I finally pieced it together for myself and my spouse. :) happy searching

eBay has these available. Cassette and cds. Have to locate through several buyers but it was worth it to have the music playlists from childhood on cd. My parents owned this collection before I completely took it over and played the cassettes to death. Worth every cent. My spouse is several years older than me and I just ordered some for her for the giving season. In case anyone has a hole in their music collection that only this can replace, they still have several of these albums available on eBay currently. Thoughts I share the blessing. Been looking for it for years! Love and light to all :)
3:48 Sara playing while phone number displays is an archived memory in my brain that was just dusted off 😊
Nostalgia ❗
So comforting
We can't explain the 80s, you just had to be there
I always wished they sold the music videos with the CD’s
I feel ya they could have thrown in a VHS copy of that hey?
I'd love for MTV to just have a MTV+ RUclips channel or something with ALL the 80s music videos they ever aired. Yeah, there's VEVO, but they don't have everything.
💿 these are like the greatest 80s collection of all times and there's no question about.
for sure they are the greatest of all.
If you're still into 80s music and looking for the greatest 80s collection of all times, then look now farther because this is it right here. A fantastic 80s collection on cds
This collection of 80s music,
I will say it does take me back to a young kid or even a young teenager. great memories throughout the 1980s
Before the internet.
I had the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Soundtrack. It was basically the same songs. PS2 baby!
Can't forget about Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories either!
Wow, this take me back to my childhood, grew up on these. Everyone has seen a Conway Twitty infomercial 😂😂
Awwwww late night tv
Damn, I miss seeing these commercials! 😢😭 Brings me back to a simpler time. I JUST WANNA GO BACK!!!
Also wished Time Life did a Sounds of The '70s and Sounds of The '90s collection.
OMG I love seeing all these commercials again after so many years, I may even have some of these as I used to tape TV shows, soap operas and other programs and have tons of VHS tapes I still need to go through. Even when I was in college in the early 90s in my television production class, I scripted a parody of these types of commercials, all in good fun, we did choreography and recreated several music videos and had the same setup. I have to put that one on RUclips hopefully at some point. Thank you so much for posting this, I love this kind of stuff!
This is a great Time Life collection from the 90's,the 80's never goes away.i've have to buy this cd collection when i'm starting to work again,it would be great.
One of my relatives had all of the time life cds including this gem!🔥
Dept. 5 No Dept 12 No Wait Dept 15 No Wait Dept.... U Get The Picture lol... Classic Commercials 👍
What was the CD collection that had Heart of Glass on the commercial? There was a commercial that also had the “our house, in the middle of the street” song …
Odd, nostalgia in nostalgia.
Wow. I'm not the only watching this.
Sounds of the 80s still ain’t sold in stores in 2020 because you can find all the songs on RUclips for free.
Lol

I loved the '80s even in the '90s hahahaha. I got a few of these CDs and they were amazing!
5:25 to 7:25
That's exactly when I always used to run into this commercial while randomly channel-flipping, back in the day. Strangely the parts before 5:25 are unfamiliar to me......... i mean, yeah, i know the songs, but never remember seeing that part of the infomercial.
My goodness i love it. I love it!
I remember one of these ads with Golden Brown by The Stranglers, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell and Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper. I've been looking for it.
That was also an eighties compilation advert from the nineties.
I remember one of those
man so many memories
5:26 album straight up take me back to the days of watching Dexter's Lab
Sounds of the 80's, more like Sounds of every Retail Store 😂
Omg memory unlocked.
Best playlist of any commercial decade.
2:22 - 3:40 wooooooow!! Memories ♥️ just made my heart flutter 😢
6:14 just unlocked so many memories.
I like having the 80s only in my right ear lol🗿🎵
The second commercial I remember seeing on GSN frequently summer 1997 while visiting my grandmother and I remember wanting that CD collection!
This damn commercial.
I'm missing this 😢
Now this is the commercial I memorized in my dreams

I. NEED. THIS. 😭😭😭😍😍😍
I loved this commercial..lol
I looked up the address to see what it is at least today. It’s a single story building but huge building. Wonder if it’s the same as where they were back then.

That’s awesome. Love that stuff.

Eddy Grant's Electric Avenue(1983) is a good song. It's a really cynical, downbeat song about working class people.
Now all I can think about is a group of guys getting tased in a hallway while this song plays
Take On Me
Taaaaaake mmmmmeeeeeeeee OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
I have them all
Can it be that it was all so simple then
5:04 I thought that was the speed of that song used in the music video, only to find out that it was sped-up for no reason.
The good times
1:29 i saw a the romantic song from TEASER MUSIC FROM FNAF FILM 2023.
Yeah, i was gonna mention that "talking in your sleep" was featured in FNAF. Hearing that tune on the movie, made me think of these ads. I can see why they chose it, as the song has this dark, dreamy like quality & feel to it.
Question is can I still call that number to order??
Lol
They have a lot of these on eBay currently. Been searching for years. Some cassettes and some cds still available. Might be able to piece the collection together through various sellers like I just did ;) happy searching
We just tried for fun and all the lines were busy 🤭
try it and find out
@@ChassitKitty E-Bay is overloaded with CDs from their various music collections. One can purchase individual volumes to entire collections. I picked up a few volumes of the Sounds of the Seventies series on e-Bay a few years ago myself!
Where’s Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston etc..? I get it it’s more towards the one hit wonders of the 80s.
Every 80s compilation album I've seen from around this time is kinda like that - I think a lot of the really big artists who had their say in it refused to let these kinds of albums use their songs, I guess because it would take away sales from their own hits albums or make them look like has beens.
Whenever Time-Life released music collections, there was always the factor of whether or not they could obtain the rights to include certain artists and songs.
For example, Time-Life's Classic Rock of the 60s collection has a vast selection of great songs and artists, yet the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Doors, the Dave Clark Five, Simon & Garfunkel, or Crosby Stills & Nash are not represented anywhere in the series.
Muy bueno 💖🙌
Amoeba Music in Hollywood, CA may have these.
Kurt brought me here
lord, my left ear, have mercy.
I remember the Second and fourth commercials most

time life sounds of the eighties
Glad you remember / Nina Blackwell time life .
There's a song that I can not find that I know was in one of these commercials.
Dude I know the felling. I'm doing the same thing lol.
Songs that are rarely played on the radio like ZZ Top's sleeping bag and the Miami Vice theme
I know every '80s song ever made lol. Can you describe it?
I am so hoping someone has this collection. I used to have it. There is a pic on one of the CD´s. Do not remember if it is on the outside or inside. It is of Boy George in a silver sequin hat with a bow on top. I had this hat made for me so I could be him on Halloween. If anyone has the pic I would love it if you could post it so I could see it again. Cannot find it anywhere in his images. Thank you in advance.
Wow, you actually had this collection??? Whatever happened to it???
I got rid of all of my CDs. It was just easier to download them. (-:
What’s the song at 5:12
'Who Can It Be Now?' by Men at Work
The internet didn't exist in the 80s so why is there a web address to purchase????
