No Chinese games keep getting better and better. Because Japanese games are already as good as western games ... I don't know if you were born in the 80's, 90's but a larger amount of games than nowadays came from Japan and it challenged a lot western games and it still now. Their savoir-faire is comparable to what we have in the west.
This has good potential if the haunting melody and settings holds to the standards. The game is being set in the 10 kingdoms, the full period being known as the 5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms, right after the fall of the Tang dynasty, around the 10th century. The song is adapted from a poetry by a known poet, written during the 5 dynasties period. I love games like these ever since I played Assassin's Creed 2.
I love that more and more Chinese themed games are gaining popularity in the west. Not in the “we need representation” way. It’s more of I have always played Chinese mythological and story based games, the west is missing out. Not until I learned about D&D I thought bard played guitars.
Visually it's definitely awesome to look at. I'm liking the music, and the setting is very interesting. I'm not yet sold on the gameplay though. Will need to see more of that before I make up my mind.
@@Stealth-ve7nw agree game looks beautiful and absolutely has potential this is probably just alpha footage or whatnot you know this is the first I'm hearing of it so I'm sure they have work to do

you can see 30 min footage of game play of the internal version here, watch?v=hGMJdfuskko, gameplay seems to be bit gerneric and it needs polish. but it does look like a real project some some thoughts put into it.

FYI, the song at beginning of the video was written by a king from China, around 1000 years ago, it sounds sad as this king lost the war, and prisoned, name of the poem 虞美人
I grew up on PlayStation and for some reason games set in the far East completely disappeared after the PS2 era in the west. Shinobi, Onimusha, Tenchu, Ninja Garden, and etc. It's nice to see that Ghost of Tsushima brought back Asian influenced games.
It's more China is finally putting enough money in Chinese influenced games, in wuxia (basically Chinese martial arts fantasy) games particularly. Ghost might've nudged some of the design but this was a long time coming with the explosion of Chinese game studios only happening in the last few years. Idk why Ghost keeps being credited for these games.
@@Dtzeo503 I agree. And there is soo much dynasties to choose from. China has many different landformations from deserts to forests and that's something they can really play at.
Looks amazing. Ghost of Tsushima set the benchmark for this kinda setting, and because these new games are raising the bar, it will only mean for and even better Ghost of Tsushima 2. I can never get enough of this type of game and setting.
I feel like this is gonna be to Ghosts of Tsushima the way Saints Row was to GTA, but with an actual story. I'm excited to explore what that whacky combat system is gonna be like. It looks like you can do a lot of things with it. Edit: Bought the game, put in 50~ hours, a lot better than I thought.
@@pwee2408 I can see why he said wacky. Look at 2:43. Hero pulls a bucket literally out of nowhere, out of his ass and screams through it at a bear. This is a must buy, I'm beyond impressed with this game. I love the art. The character design and gameplay look smooth and remind me of the Wulong game that's coming out. Thank you, Ghost of Tsushima, showing that games with this setting is possible.
