I watch a LOT of auto restoration videos, and this is the one I look forward to the most! Don't undersell your work, everything is going great. You are actually DOING what so many people start and never finish.
I love this channel, like others said this is a channel that I watch from the beginging to the end. I JUST WANT TO SAY, PLEASE PUT EAR DEFENDERS ON WHEN GRINDING ! you're not a young guy & we need to look after ourselves, they're not expensive. 👍
I Think this project is awesome and do it how you see fit its your project someone has any ideas about how its supposed to be done let them buy one and do it that way. This Project deserves to be saved how ever you see fit its yours.
I agree with your attitude toward this unit. It's not like it is one of three remaining. Get it driveable so people can see it and enjoy another part of America's industrial legacy.
In Australia you would be known as a bush mechanic Out of necessity comes resourcefulness and inspiration You’re the type of bloke I reckon I’d work with and crack a couple of beers at the end of the day Love the videos Greetings from Gippsland Vic Australia 🇦🇺👍
Wally enjoying this. Two things - 1 don't apologize for your decisions, no need to justify your work, it's your project. 2 Less talking and more working :-)
Really digging this project. Love the perspective of making it better not perfect. Not everything needs to be a show stopper perfect to be an awesome build. It is what it is. Enjoying the process and inspiring my own patina chevy project
I just found your channel. Love your attitude and approach to this build. The amount of times I have to tell myself to not over think makes my head spin. Glad I am not the only one.
I like the name Rusty, i call mine 'ol Rattler, and they are kind of like brother trucks " Rusty and Rattler or 'ol Rusty and 'ol Rattler." Just my two cents. Keep up the good work wally.
With all the B.S. involved (bad steel) a project this size can be overwhelming. Think of it as eating an elephant (no animals harmed) it is one bite at a time. Keep on keepin on.
Looks good from my house too. You could call your truck "Skoal" because "it's good snuff". Can we still do chew tobacco jokes? Thanks for the build, it was a thought I had but never collected the pieces for.
Good progress. I don’t believe you are overthinking your approach. So many possibilities and options combined with rust make for a lot of thought on how best to proceed. But I’m glad you are not making a full restoration effort. No need for that. It’ll be fine.
loving the videos Wal, loving the process, don't know how you stay so cool when it looks so hot! this is gonna be a beaut when done - keep up the good work
Just my opinion, but I would think that the motor and Trans should be in place so that when you build the sub-frame and floor you will not have clearance problems. Will save on rework. Great project
Coming along nicely! I see another YT builder (Bad Chad Customs) deal with some of those rust holes using coat hanger rods as filler. It seems to work well.
If only we were neighbors I would hang over the fence with my glass of ice tea saying stupid shit like hey Wally what is that, what's a coe Wally , what color u gonna paint it Wally why you point that gun at me 😅 ...there smart ass comment for the week 😂 thanks for sharing sir see ya next week
Hey, it's your truck. You salvaged it from a fencerow and trucked it all the way back home. You could have really pissed off some people and cut up one of those old GMC motorhomes that have the front wheel drive Olds engine and trans. It will be fine. Our culture nowadays is to shame and flame even though its from their parents' basement. The truck is going to be cool. Make it safe. Make it drivable. Make it enjoyable. Above all, just make it! Cheers Terry
I looks like it’s much easier to fix all the cab stuff before the floor goes in while you can stand and get under it. Look around before you close the floor in. And steering mounts, under dash holes to fill, it will look great when you’re done. At 18:45 (after my comment) you were thinking the same as I was, sometimes it’s hard to look ahead, but later it’s easier to think woulda, shoulda, coulda.
Wally , when you said you were Vaper locking, everybody watching in their late 50 deez plus knows what you are talking about, but the kids think you were having a problem with that plastic thing they blow smoke with????? or something???? I guess we date our self's from time to time . Keep up the good work ...
Instead of just overlapping the patch, why not use a pneumatic flanging tool to make a recessed edge to attach the new metal to? I bought one at Harbor Freight. This is what I plan to do when I replace the door bottoms and cab corners in my 1957 NAPCO 3600. It would only take a few minutes to do. It seems to me that it would be the best if both worlds. You have more to weld to than a butt weld, but the finished edge is flat.
by doing what you did, she will still have a chance down the line. glad its not going to the junk yard. to the person who wants to restore this in the future, your welcome is what you should say not sorry.
Brother. Stop apologizing. Your not doing a restoration. Your building a custom rig. Your taking us along for the journey. Just do what you plan to do with it, and we watch as you go. We might give some input that would probably help you to not strugglebus so much. Other than that you are doing great. The key is less talking about it, and more showing it getting done. Then, at the end you can put in what you plan to do next. Keep it simple
You don't need to make all the disclaimers about how you are prepping the truck. Its very obvious that you have the ability to do restoration type work and that is not the goal here, relax !
My Dad would never say something was restored, it was successfully repaired 🤗
I like that saying
I watch a LOT of auto restoration videos, and this is the one I look forward to the most! Don't undersell your work, everything is going great. You are actually DOING what so many people start and never finish.
Thanks 👍
Wallys Workin, one of the only channels that I can watch every video all the way through. Good stuff Wally!
That is a nice compliment.
Keep on truckin' Wallys Workin
Have a good weekend everyone!
I appreciate that
Saving an old vehicle is a chore.. You're doing a fantastic job..

Good Enough, I like it. I just keep telling people "it's a driver not a show truck". Thank you for the video.
I agree with your attitude toward this unit. It's not like it is one of three remaining. Get it driveable so people can see it and enjoy another part of America's industrial legacy.
As the saying goes, "Keep it simple" I live by this all the time. Your doing fine work there.
She’s looking great. You’re making a ton of progress.
In Australia you would be known as a bush mechanic

Loving in man! AZ guy here too, glad it’s becoming cooler outside to make work easier
You got that right!
I'm just glad I'm not the only one crazy enough to build an old car from scratch the way I want it! Love to watch the progress
I would caution you to cover the glass and protect it from the hot sparks which will cause damage
Thank you for making these videos. Really enjoying them.
Looks good Wally... Looking forward to seeing it Run and Drive..
Looks like a great project. Lot of metal work, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work!
Loving the progress.
Keep chipping away..🙂
Great attitude, get her done! It will be fine & cool!
"I'm sitting here having an argument with myself..." I'm not alone, after all!!!
The way you're doing it is going to work and make it a whole lot stronger than it was before. Keep at it.
Every cut you made into this body is an education for me and what I will find behind the skin of my own COE. Thank you for the tutorial!
You're doing fine Wally. Thanks for taking the time to share the journey
The COE is looking good, nicely done Wally. 💯🆒🫵🏼
Good job Wally🤠👍
Great job ! One piece at a time ! 😉🙃😎 NZ
Thanks for fixing the audio. Video sounds great. ❤
You’re welcome 😊
I just found your channel. Love your attitude and approach to this build. The amount of times I have to tell myself to not over think makes my head spin. Glad I am not the only one.
Keep doing what you are doing its your truck and enjoy it .Keep on trucken
...dont beat yourself up about those welds....👍
Doing fine. Laps are good for old metal.
Your doing a great job with what you got 👏
Keep on going Wally 🇿🇦 it's always good just to do it
Got to love your humour and explanations
Thanks for championing the Lap Weld
Thx for sharing. Greetings from germany Christoph 😊

damn looks great patching the sores up, it reminds me of doing my 46 chevy pick up. She is coming along fine for an everyday driver
Looks good from my house too. You could call your truck "Skoal" because "it's good snuff". Can we still do chew tobacco jokes? Thanks for the build, it was a thought I had but never collected the pieces for.

It's finally cooling off!
I like what you’re doing here!!
I like the name “Good-A-Nuff” or “Good-E-Nuff” depending on where you live. ( and yes I can spell correctly )
I love your making it work with what you got approach. That’s is how I do it
"Good enough" is sometimes good enough. Great project.
I knew that floor was going to be a bitter battle...
Just my opinion, but I would think that the motor and Trans should be in place so that when you build the sub-frame and floor you will not have clearance problems. Will save on rework. Great project
nice Dan
Coming along nicely! I see another YT builder (Bad Chad Customs) deal with some of those rust holes using coat hanger rods as filler. It seems to work well.
I have used wire coat hangers years ago to gas weld sheet. Metal until I learned about zinc poisoning from the gal coating 😮
Oh Wally I don't know about every other person that subscribes to your channel but I am very interested in the Maverick
I have been working on it and filming don’t worry.
Wally, u Sir are doing-it right, not a show truck by any means. A working truck to haul stuff. Name her "two Bicknell"
It's coming along awesomely. ✌️
Good job, you're right, just go.
Looking great!
use a coat hanger or tig rod to help fill in gaps with you mig
If only we were neighbors I would hang over the fence with my glass of ice tea saying stupid shit like hey Wally what is that, what's a coe Wally , what color u gonna paint it Wally why you point that gun at me 😅 ...there smart ass comment for the week 😂 thanks for sharing sir see ya next week

Thanks Terry!
In the words of Rat Rod Bob it's just a Rat Rod
Great job so far !!! I think through you should spray some rust restorer on that cab, no ???
I looks like it’s much easier to fix all the cab stuff before the floor goes in while you can stand and get under it. Look around before you close the floor in. And steering mounts, under dash holes to fill, it will look great when you’re done.

Pop rivets. They are fast and hold aircraft together.
And race cars

Lookin good, nothing like flyin by the seat of your pants😊 ay ?
Okin forward to the next video , can't wait 😊
Cool video
butchery...my kind of welding!!!!
At least you’re trying wally

I dig it!!!!
Flat floor as best you can some kind of dyno mat and then some cheap click flooring in oak.
Someone else mentioned the wood floor, I have been thinking about it.
@wallysworkin823 easy to keep clean. Might look out of place thou.
@@jaxj3626 I don’t know. I’ve never seen one of these trucks with a wood floor only semi trucks.
There’s always three ways to do it, the right way, the wrong way, and the gitterdone way.
You should make it manual will sound nice
You should have done the new floor and strengthing when it was off up side down and then fitted to chassis
I agree, lesson learned.
👍👍👍
I had a wild idea of this truck being a mid engine, radiator up front ride. The floor could be flat with no doghouse.
That's the plan!
How about a little sand blasting on the rust.
Would rust converter be helpful to you?
I some spots.
Why the choice of corded tools over air?
I do use both but mostly the angle grinder and reciprocating saw.
Do the floors last!
Too late lol
by doing what you did, she will still have a chance down the line. glad its not going to the junk yard. to the person who wants to restore this in the future, your welcome is what you should say not sorry.
This build series is really putting a test on my OCD! LOL. Ugh.
You and me both, just gotta learn to let go lol
I like your project, though I would limit the amount of talking and add more actual work. Thanks
ok boss😂😂😂

It's good from far but far from good
You don't need to make all the disclaimers about how you are prepping the truck. Its very obvious that you have the ability to do restoration type work and that is not the goal here, relax !
I’m glad you said it, makes it hard to watch at times!
I like what you are doing keep up the good work!!! Saving another from the scrap yard !!!
Noted.
@@thamatrix03Agreed, but I didn’t know how to put it.
What is your goal
Drive it and enjoy it.
Putty and Paint make the job what it aint ...
Fala muito e trabalha pouco
🇺🇲💯❤️🌞✅️
Or you could spend the next ten years trying to make a sema truck and not get to enjoy it. Well done in my opinion.
No thanks lol
