      There is a Bisgby you can buy that you do not even need that adapter plate for. But that 335 now has 4 holes in it at the rear strap button location, which is fine if you plan on never taking it off, but if you do change your mind, well too darn bad lol. Me, I would just use the one hole where the strap button goes through and mounts it and not use those screws until after I was POSITIVE I wanted to keep the Bigsby on. I have a gretsch with one on it and it does nothing for me but I don't use a wiggle stick anyway. I did put a trapezoid bridge on my 335 style Peavey and I love it. You can just press down on the strings with your hand if you want to get a Vibrato type of effect, like Ted Nugent does on his Byrdlands. Also with the trapezoid I can just do one string where as a regular wiggle stick setup it's all or nothing. I did have to put 4 screws in by the strap button but I did wait until I was sure I was going to like it lol.

    Quick note about tremolo vs vibrato: all whammy bars are vibrato bars. Vibrato is a variation in pitch, tremolo is a variation in volume
    Edit: didn’t mean to say speed.

    • @Patbwoy
      @Patbwoy 4 года назад +5

      A variation in speed would be the same as pitch modulation, as pitch is the speed of the vibration i.e. the frequency of the note? Actually, Tremolos produce a modulation in volume. One rather clumsy way to produce a tremolo effect would be to rapidly open and close your volume pot.

    Vibrato is an effect that occurs when the value of the frequency is changed in rapid succession. Tremolo does not change frequency in rapid succession, but instead changes the tone's amplitude rapidly.

  • @JaimeCerrada
    @JaimeCerrada 4 года назад +4

    Nice 335 and nice mod! Take care so... That bigsby could be addictive!!
    Just to clarify one of the most common mistakes in the world of the guitar:
    Tremolo: Amplitude oscillation of the signal.
    Vibration: Frequency oscillation of the singal.
    If you move the bar of a Fender bridge you are changing the tension of the strings, therefore the frequency at which they move ;)
    If you move the volume up and down you are changing the amplitude of the signal :D
    So:
    So, Fender guitars has a Vibrato bridge not a Tremolo bridge. You installed a Vibrato system not a Tremolo system. The floyd rose is a vibrato bridge as well, not a tremolo bridge.
    Fender did a mistake and named his bridge as a "tremolo bridge" and from then most of the people believes that is a "tremolo bridge" but it isn't.
    Something similar happened with the Marshall JTM45 with tremolo. On the back panel they wrote "Tremelo" and because he hasn't corrected it since, it's "tremelo"
    Cheers!

  • @frannieto2676
    @frannieto2676 Год назад

    I watch this video again after 3 years because of how satisfying it is for me to see the installation.
    But there is something that I wanted to comment on and I think it is something that we should all know from now on. The Bigsby system is a vibrato, but the Strat bridge and Floyd Rose are too. The Tremolo is a variation of the volume of a signal, but the bigsby, the strat bridge and the Floyd all vary the pitch and that is the definition of vibrato. The only difference between the 3 is the vibrato range.
    The reason why the Strat bridge is called a tremolo is due to a confusion that Fender generated by putting the name Vibroluxe to an amplifier that did not have a vibrato, it had a tremolo. From there the confusion was born

    I've been working on/repairing/customizing/designing and building guitars since 1984 and if there's one thing I have learned the hard way just like you in that video it's to cover any soundhole or f-holes with ( low-tack) masking tape 🙂 this way you won't have anything fall inside the guitar 🙂 and if that should happen anyway get one of these telescopic magnetic pens...
    Great video 🙂 I'm a huge fan of Vibramate...

    The Bigsby is not a tremolo. Its an entirely whole new world. Its an experience.

  • @Harmonic14
    @Harmonic14 4 года назад +1

    They're ALL vibrato systems - Bigsby, Floyd Rose, all of them. Vibrato is a modulation of pitch, and tremolo is a modulation of volume.
    Also, you should consider putting roller saddles on that. Tune-o-matics aren't great even with a stop tail, and you'll have even more small problems when paired with a Bigsby.

      It's a double reward system! Get better to get more gear!

  • @bubkusjones
    @bubkusjones 4 года назад +1

    Tremolo is what you find on a pedal or an amp, where you have repeated volume cuts. Vibrato is pitch change. Whether it is from your fingers or from a bridge unit. Whether it's a Floyd or a Bigsby or anything in between.

    The guitar bridge assembly is a vibrato bar. Vibrato is a modulation effect that varies pitch, while tremolo is modulation effect created by varying the amplitude or volume, you see that on amplifiers.

    Just to add another comment, I got the Vibramate V7 G series and Bigsby B7 for my Gibson es 335 studio. I have found out that the studio is quarter of an inch shorter than the Standard Gibson es 335 and quarter of an inch longer than the Epiphone es 335; which uses the Vibramate V 7 E series. Luckily enough Vibramate are aware of differences and provide spacers of different sizes to fill any gap between the Bigsby and the guitar.
