    As much as we want to support the local Nepali economy, the requirement for a compulsory "licensed" guide, quickly doubles an entire budget and many would-be hikers will likely be shut out😢. The only people who will benefit from this requirement are the tour operators😜, who pay their sherpas a pittance.

    • @shreyamanandhar8298
      @shreyamanandhar8298 3 месяца назад +1

      Hi John! A Nepali local here!
      The mandatory guide is required in the Manasalu trek because the route is less-known and is mandated for tourist safety. The locals there won't speak english and you'll have a difficult time conversing, even if you are a seasoned hiker. The Manaslu circuit will reach ~5300Meters when you do the Larke La pass, and many may suffer from altitude sikness and won't be able to deal with it alone.
      This ofcourse profits the trekking company and the tourism industry in the larger scale-- as it should-- because Nepal relies a lot on Tourism-based economy... However, the PRIME reason is for your safety. Many foreigners have unfortunately lost their lives in the high altitudes of Nepal.
      As a Nepali local, i suggest you get a guide- they are cool, i promise. 😊

      @@JohnVianneyPatron ah, it had been quite sometime since i debated with a moron on the internet, when what i only wanted to do was help you out.
      It's a good thing they don't require mandatory IQ points to travel. Otherwise, you wouldn't make it anywhere.
