it's an awl. it's used to make indents on the wood, i've heard from plenty that you don't need it but i personally could not assemble the shelf without it
@@panfullopie thank you! I actually ended up buying an awl for a leather project and recognized it was similar to the tool and was able to complete the build 😅 (tho it took me 3 months to figure it out haha)
