I was lucky enough to attend the Dutch National in 2018. I heard all the performances of High Peak in this division of the contest. Firstly, this is one of Eric Ball's best works for brass band. There is not a note out of place. In my mind, I think of it as a tone poem depicting the adventures in climbing a great mountain. The trials overcome. The drudgery of the climb. A ferocious storm endured, but ending in the elation of reaching that high peak. Pro Rege played this difficult work extremely well and Anne van den Berg's reading of its score was exactly right. Lovely performance. Very enjoyable. PS1: Love the red braces. PS2: Mirasound do a good job, here, and when they recorded my own band at WMC 1993.
Ok so can someone answer a question? Immediately to the right of the conductor are 2 euphoniums. Then, from right to left, are 2 players on what I would call saxhorns. Then a flugelhorn. Then 2 more saxhorns, but slightly smaller. Is that what these actually are, or are they called something else?
From left to right in the inner circle around the MDS stand Soloe Euphonium 1st Euphonium, Solo Baritone, 1st Baritone, Flugel Horn, Solo Tenor Horn 1st Tenor Horn 2nd Tenor Horn. They are called alto horns in Europe but a British Brass Band is what I have just said. tenor horn is in Eb where the Flugel, Baritones and Euphs are Bb

Next to the euphoniums you have the baritones. Next to the flugel are altohorns. Both instrument in the Saxhorn family.
@@annezvdberg thanks!
