Thanks for this video! The visual of the roll top really made it clear if i needed to go with a 40L 2400 junction or this 22L to replace one of my 30L camera bag.
Ooof yeah kind of a tough call, I guess it depends on what all you're taking. Aside from the obvious differences in size, the other thing to consider is the load capacity. HMG says the Elevate 22 should carry 25lb loads comfortably. Junction is up to 40lbs.
@@VeggieHeather Ah right! i read that somewhere about the 25lb load capacity. I'll probably have to stick with my Granite Gear 55L for the heavier loads when backpacking with my camera gear. My camera gear averages from 8-10lbs. The elevate will probably just replace my camera specific bag, and will use it for air travel! Have you tried stuffing the bag to the roll top capacity yet?
@ericshengphotography1163 I have! I stuffed it enough with room to fold the roll top closure 3 times. It's up against my head a little but it can still hold a good amount. I was pleasantly surprised! Can't say how well camera gear will pack vs things like food, clothing & a quilt but I'm sure you can get 8-10lbs worth inside this bag alone with some room to spare
@@VeggieHeather thats great to hear! I have very specific criteria im looking for because of the camera gear, and it seems like all the boxes are being checked! i had my fingers crossed for being able to store my tripod within the bag when traveling (and more), so the rolltop expansion is pretty important. Thanks again Heather! Now I wait for the 1-2 week lead time.
Very Nice Pack!! That 22 is more like a 30 + That roll top is insane! you could get a weekend or maybe a 4-5 day adventure in the summer for sure. Rock ON!!
I’m going to use mine for everything from my regular daily 8.2 mile loop to my 5-day adventure run in Florida come October. Yes, it’s absolutely a little bit too snug for the multi day thing but…I’m not packing foods for all 5 of those days, it’s very doable.
Seems like it would be great multi purpose bag…i am looking for a new travel bag that fits under airplane seat/day hike bag while on vacation? Ur thoughts? Also considering unbound 40 for this purpose. I have southwest 3400 and love it for backpacking…
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I'd say a 40L bag is likely too big to fit under an airplane seat. This pack would even be too big if you stuffed it all the way out (though they both would fit in the overhead compartment). But if you kept it tight (like how I have it in this video, rolled down to its lowest), the Elevate would probably work under an airplane seat. As for day hiking while on vacation, HELL YES! This pack is proving to be so comfortable and convenient! I would totally take it as my personal item on an airplane if I were also going hiking on vacation. I'd say get the Elevate if you want a dedicated day hike bag. I'm about to post a video for a summer overnight loadout using the Elevate 22 and it can be done! I think anyone who gets the Elevate will be happy with it.
Nice review Heather! How do find it feels/carries if not packed full? I'd be using this as a daypack only and I've read one review that if not packed full the aluminum g hooks don't stay attached easily and it slouches. Thoughts?
Thanks! It feels fine on your back even when not packed out. If you don't tighteen the straps with the g-hooks I can see that problem happening but so far I haven't experienced that. If you message me on Instagram I'd be happy to send you any pics or videos that you might want to help demonstrate how it looks when barely or halfway filled.
Yeah! It can fold in half really well, it's so thin and light, especially if you remove the hipbelt. It likely can fold in thrids too, which would work well as extra structure on a back panel. It's not as paper thin as a drawstring nylon bag but on the right trip I could see this being a summit pack or extra travel pack.
I am looking into this pack, I know you have video coming with the overnight reviews. Is it worth it for a weekend worrier? I can only normally go out one maybe two nights. Thanks!
Yeah! I think it works great for a weekend trip depending on your water carry. It only has a 25lb load capacity so you really have to be dialed with what you bring. Message me if you're interested in my 15% off code 👍
Great review! Ive been looking everywhere for some more info on this pack. My wife has HMG's Daybreak pack and is loving it so far, and has got me wanting to pick up either the Elevate or the Daybreak for myself. Do you have an estimation for when you plan to make the comparison video between the two?🙏
Hey thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I'm currently editing the video for a UL overnight set up with the Elevate, after that's up I'll start filming the comparison video, but I'd like to get some more day hikes in with the Elevate so it's possible that video won't be up till late July. I'll try to get it out as soon as I can!
@@VeggieHeather that’s still pretty dang light. I’m thinking of trying a “stupid” light overnight this summer. Like 1/8” foam sleep pad light. Probably be terrible and uncomfortable or maybe I’ll enjoy it 🤔
Haha sorry friend, it's been way too hot to film the B roll I want. I'm in Texas so I'm just waiting for these 100°+ days to die off a little. It's next on my list, sorry for the wait!
The Daybreak does have a sleeve but it's more for a laptop lol. But the Elevate has a loop inside the pack to hang a bladder! Both options aren't perfect for bladders but that's just how it goes. The Elevate can kind of roll down tighter, still feels like a smaller package than the Daybreak.
That's a solid $130 more expensive my dude. Worth that price for the extra space but definitely not comparable. This pack is closer to 1300 cubic inches.
@@VeggieHeather you’re already spending almost 300 for this one the southwest offers to a of extra room in the mail compartment and outer pockets 250 before tax on a 22l pack is ridiculous
@M I agree the price for this is a bit high, you're right there. I was just stating the difference for anyone who can't justify the 3400 Southwest if that isn't what they're looking for/in their budget.

Great review. I’ve been between the osprey stratos 24 and the Gregory Mikos 22. Now I have to pick between 3. Arghh
Good looking pack. Heck you could get a few nights out of that! Glad to see your last couple videos have done so well. Keep it up.
Thank you Cameron!

Thanks for your review. Nice it is so lightweight. Too big for me. Need only 14-18 litres daypack to carry on Ryanair and for hiking.
Are there daisy chain loops on the sides of the waist belt wings?
Love it
I bought the Waypoint 35. Think that's my lower limit since I carry some luxury items on my trips.
Good review on that pack. Thanks for showing it loaded up with gear. Does it say what torso length it is ?
I got the side medium. Thanks for your comment!
I just noticed the shirt. I'm in cedar park! I ordered a black one of these today.
great walkthrough! you should check out the waymark mile! i prefer it over HMGs current daypacks by far.
I have the Waymark Lite 50 & love it! I'd love to try out more of their packs.

Base weight of 13lbs, total was 18lbs but it was HOT so I had a lot of water. I'm working on getting it lower.
