I had forgotten about these! I owned a brown and gold Solaro for a week in 89. It was the in-laws before that. The mother in law got a white Granada 2.9ltr and drove it like it was stolen, always in high heels, whatever the weather. Solaro or Solara? I can’t remember. She had fantastic legs!
I remember these... and the horizon from the early 80's into mid 80's... after the peugeot take over they weren't around for long, last horizon I remember seeing in 1985 was a C reg but that's one you never seem to see today, I did see a red samba a couple of years ago running on the isle of bute, had to take a second look to believe what I was seeing... wonder how mant ther actually are today
That citrean ax dashboard..... these were so disposable: type of econobox nobody looked after and kept; i know its hardly desirable per say but I think its absolutely fantastic its been looked after and kept. Isn't this basically the peugeot 204?
@@pilskadden must’ve been a dealer thing. It was new from a dealer in t he local area, and 100% said GT. I’ll look for the pictures , sure I’ve got some
@@Beastriderpav There was a Samba S , GLS and Rallye that had rev counters but no GT ,as you say could have been a dealer special edition. There was a Peugeot 205 and Citroen AX GT that were from the same family.
My company ran a small fleet of these in the early 80's. Not many left because they were a absolutely terrible! Build quality was poor and reliability was more like unreliability, one of them had to have a new engine at 1,000 miles due to a con-rod coming through the engine block.
Superb.
The absolute BEST prize on Bullseye ever!
Complete with hot woman on the bonnet and flashing indicators. Damn I won the Talbot, I wanted the turntable and speakers instead!

Were they based on the Peugeot 104 or Citroen Visa perhaps?
@@IngramCars thats it 104...not 204 and the visa which turned into the AX.... Many thanks
Talbot Samba as well as the Citroën Visa were based on the Peugeot 104.
Yes, this is basically a Peugeot 104, which was also turned into the Citroen LN/LNA with the 2CV engine.
Thank you for your comments!
God remember working on them when they were new

My mum had the gti version with a radio and tachometer, slightly less poverty spec. That looks a mint example- bless
Wow they did a gti type version? That must of been a sight!!
There was never a GTI version. Only a slightly warm hatch version with twin carbs and 80 bhp.
