All that matters is that you're stepping out of your comfort zone and trying to learn something you didn't know before, and that alone is a very important part of art :D
and that's fine! art is a skill, and to improve upon that skill is to continue to try new things! this is one reason why I have no fucking idea why people complain about the skin tone thing though. You tryna tell me that there's no vtube artist that can practice curly hair but they can practice drawing the most detailed, and extra-for-no-reason outfits you've ever seen? Ok...
They're afraid of making a darkskinned model that gets ragged on. Imagine being Tsukumo Sana's artist and hearing nonstop hate about your work mostly because of her skin tone.

SHE IS A BROWN CAUSE SHES NATIVE BUT THE ARTIST SAID “if you lighter than any color than white im charging extra” 🫡im deceased.
im so happy more people are talking abt this. im black and want to become a vtuber when im older and out of the house. i just watched taledo’s video and was kinda of surprised that so many people were blatantly racist it’s really sad that people care so fucking much about the color of a person’s skin.
As someone whos is mixed (black and white) ive been nervous to want to start vtubing due to models and not wanting to look like im trying to be something im not but this gave me alot more confidence
This was definitely interesting to me. I don't know much about the Vtuber community and I don't go out of my way to learn more - but I might after seeing this. It's underwhelming that people can't accept each other as they are, and it's even sadder that we can't do that with models online. Thank you showing this part too.
i’m an artist and i was learning how to do live 2d because i wanted to make a black magical girl vtuber for streaming. there’s soooo many tutorials about rigging straight or wavy hair but nothing for curlier hair. i have no idea what to look out for, how to cut the model’s hair to use in live 2d, nothing. the hair i made was just one big blob. the lack of tutorials like that makes it that much harder to step into vtubing as a black person because there isn’t any information that’s being shared to riggers, so even if i want to id have to figure it out myself and i simply don’t have the time to do so
I honestly have been thinking about becoming a vtuber and I honestly can’t handle disrespect I clap back HARD. So I’ll work on myself to handle this with grace than becoming defensive.
And this is why I keep to myself. My solitude feels waaay better than being around those outside of my nationality and those who look like me, that will only ever view me as 3/4ths of a human being while simultaneously smiling in my face. Yeah, you can't piss on me and say it's raining.
Its actually possible to change the models color! , in vtube studio, theres a customize button! Where you can change the screen and multiply layers! We were seriously robbed from the beta kenji design :( I know multiple people would love to see it used :0

As a black person. I've been trying to make my own models of the different races my characters are. The feeling of "getting it wrong" with skin tones is a real issue. But I have other races that I will be making sure I make perfect. It would be nice to see more POC models out there without the harassment. It would also be HELLA lovely to see more male vtubers. Which is what I'm working on currently. It's always females and RARELY any males because ig females get more attention with their "cute" voices, acting and men just...exist. I'd like to think both can make just about the same amount of views as the next guy On the topic of VRCHAT, someone(+) up and slured me and my friends, and they (friends) weren't even black, they were just apart of the LGBT. They need to sit down and touch grass 😕
Oh my God yes, this shit drives me up the gaddamn wall is is one of the main reasons why I'm learning to draw digitally. Both vids were fantastic, love you're content
Loved the reaction and the video does bring up good points about black vtubers. As a lantino who's been happy to see latinas like Reimu, Scarle of Niji and Ironmouse of VShojo and many others become popular, it makes me think it should be time for black vtubers become mega big, that was something that even Aaliyah agreed with. The fact that vtubers who are black don't get success is suprising. The fact some vt fans say that Tan Vtubers should be enough is dumb. Being Tan (asian, hispanics and some whites) and being Black is something very different and makes the idea that black people only can be tan very dumb. If many more black Vtubers join big companies like Hololive or Nijisanji or etc, it would probaly bring more and more people to join the fanbase and not feel left out. Also one major thing about enjoying the vtuber is to relate with them, and if more black fans could find a oshi like them in the aspect of Race, ethnicy or culture P.S. - Concept Kenji really pretty

Even though I'm not black (I'm White/Japanese/Native American) I have wavy/curly hair when the humidity is high (and I live in a place where that is basically all the time). I wanted a model who had a similar hair texture and MY GOD. Every single artist I've commissioned defaults to straight hair. It's incredibly annoying cause even when I try to ask nicely if they could make it a bit curlier, THEY LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA. My boy keeps getting drawn with Anime Protag number 6 and it genuinely ruins the vibe imo. I'm sucking it up but I really wish I could find an artist who can wrap their head around the idea of wavy hair. I can because I draw, but sadly I don't do digital atm :///
Yo I knew I’d be facing problems right out the gate and that’s why I switched from designing my black vtuber model and just took my fursona instead. They ain’t gonna be racist to me if I’m purple and sound white passing. 😭
it is truly said what i have been called in vrchat for WEARING A BLACK AVATAR AND BEING BALCK MYSELF. I dont get trashed on when i use an avatar with a skin tone that isn''t mine (someone pls tell me if that is bad to do because idk and i've been researching about it and i found nothing) and i have people just like have a normal chat with me asking me if i am black and when i say yes they call me all kinds of slurs you can say to african-americans, and when i use a avatar that is black aka my skintone the same treatment happens when i am in THE MIDDLE OF A CONVERSATION WITH SOMEONE. It is truly sad how we are treated across many games, platforsm, etc. and to be honest it gets really annoying, then when i report them i get a warning on how i shouldn't scold them to not say that to people and ask for apologies and then the next day i see them in the same lobby doing the same thing they did to me the previous day. This treatment is getting extremely annoying and i am just so sick and tired of it😬. and it is truly emmbarassing to see people act like this.
the urge to give up everything i’ve ever known and loved in life and teach myself anime art and coloring and rendering and complicated programs for rigging and vtubemodeling just to give these folks a damn darker skin tone holy hell dude
This is why as someone who wants to bring out their persona (obv mixed/poc like me) into the Vtubing world, it's paused. I get all excited like "Oh boy! I can't wait to do this!" Then I look online like Twitter or something and suddenly it went from eagerness to "Naw, I'm good. It can wait." LMFAO 💀💀💀
I'd say I "don't have time to be upset" but that's a dirty ass lie xD. My model is barely olive skinned and when I did *one emote* they made her skin light pink. The PNGtuber image was there... just reuse the damn palette, love. Also the amount of problematic vtubers there are is what's "out of proportion". We're here to chill, initially, if anyone goes around attacking people for existing I will make a whole stream about it, unbothered. Loved the video, I watched Taledo's video a few days ago, so this popped up, thanks!
I'm very glad I'm making my (platonic)brother his model due to this, seeing all this stuff, making my model and his seems a lot easier for me and I plan on rigging his first so he can have his own assets that he loves and adores that he asked me to make, as well as the fact that he doesn't have to worry about the assets and such since I can hand make some for him if he requests it. I also really enjoy the first concept art of Kenji's model, wish he had an artist that would do it for him ;-;
I have been trying to learn how to rig and stuff like that bcs I already know how to draw Vtuber models and stuff, and if I had a client asks me for curly hair or dreads or anything like such, I will give my LIFE to draw it. I will search tutorials, I will look at references and I will do it.
All of this reminds me that MANY times people thought I was blonde irl and white just because my character has blonde hair and is white. Dude, my character is literally a while lion with bat wings. And is a fictional character or did they thought I also had red eyes and such? xD And they questioned it. Thinking my character should be exactly like me. It's a furry, like, what..? And just a character. Anyways xD
It’s crazy stupid isn’t it lol people DO think Vtubers IRL look exactly like their digital personas. That’s why they go crazy when a vtubers face is leaked and if they aren’t conventionally attractive (male or female, but this mostly happens with females) they go crazy
this is making me want to become a vtuber artist that works hard to be able to do different styles and races so ppl can get the vtuber model that they want 😭

@@ANGELSFATALEFANATSY well the earlier you start, the more likely your following will be stronger/fuller by the time you turn 18. i'm starting right as im turning 18 so that when i am there, the success is there as well. it's all about your mindset though, and what YOU think you can accomplish. i wouldn't say don't start now, but i also wouldn't suggest starting now either because of the amount of toxicity in this community w/ poc alone. so i would suggest going at your own pace, because drama is almost ALWAYS going to be there.
my vtubing channel is ReiriRei though, and i've already started gaining a following with little to know social media presence. you could always start off as a vtweeter and start from there to avoid hate, and racists. it's always the safest bet.

it’s so annoying to see things like “you’re being too sensitive” when black vtubers are literally have slurs being thrown at them unprovoked. the tube community members/audience need to get it tf together
Like whats so hard to understand 😭
Kenjis models are the best
people rlly have to understand that since anime originated in japan and vtubing is inspired by anime, doesn't mean that black people (or people of any other race) cannot vtube because they're not japanese! its the same thing for kpop, when a foreign kpop idol debuts, they get hate for not being korean- even though kpop is just music that is based in korea and you don't have to be korean to sing in korean! yall some toxic mf's fr.
Facts!!!
also a lot of kpop is just RnB (ya know, something made by black people) and usually incorporates rap sometimes (another thing made by black people)
even a lot of producers for kpop are black
but nobody wants to acknowledge that ig
yeah, rnb is a common thing in kpop and its still not acknowledged that black people made it, im not black but it pisses me off so much!
@@imkool5802 as a mixed black person i don't really care but- give credit where's do. Idk if i worded that well cause english isn't my first language 😭

Some people are so weird. The fact that someone’s first thought when seeing your reveal was racism tf??? My first thought was that you were very hot.
Also I’m down bad for the OG model 😊
it seens inbreed hill billies like anime too
Naw cause I saw his body reveal and immediately dropped on my knees 🤨🤨🤨🔥🔥🔥🔥
And the fact it was from another vtuber themselves!! Like they're cultivated a community in which they feel comfortable enough to tweet that shit
tell him to ditch the vtuber model and just stream normally
since you guys care so much about skin color and making racists out of the artists that made him a vtuber in the first place.
none of you fuckers ever said you cared about his model's skin before. you're just riding a superficial morality wave.
And they say we’re calling them racist for asking for an inclusive assets. It’s literally not that hard to add in different skin tones 💀
yeah and they hit you with the hyprocritical argument of 'its really not that hard to have a white model
ecolor an asset yoursel' 💀
fr its not even that hard to make ur shading a multiply layer and change the skin color...
so now you're making enemies of the artists of the vtuber that you've been watching so long. suddenly you all care about skin color.
suddenly they're racists.
tell kenji to ditch his vtuber model and just stream irl then. since you care so much about skin color
@@Dubs22005 well actually it seems that the ppl that don't like/whine about black people wanting a model with their skin color care a lot more about it since they go out of their way to be assholes for no fuckin reason.
@@Dubs22005 you're the problem. Black people can never have anything.
I also find it really weird in the vtuber community that there's little to no accountability regarding talents bc if they get cancelled they can just "graduate" and rebrand and practically the entire vtuber community/fanbase will tell you to not bring it up anymore bc that's their "past life" ... Even though their past life was two days ago.

As a mixed digital artist (Brazilian+Native American), I try my hardest to expand my knowledge and research different ways to draw POC features like hair, the various skin tones, and even different styles of makeup and fashion. And I always make sure to get an outside opinion to make sure I don’t accidentally create something offensive or inappropriate. Currently I’m experimenting with the vitiligo look in my art, so Kenji, if you see this (probably not), I’d be happy to draw your amazing model with some melanin and then curls like you deserve, king❤
The OG concept of Kenji's model would have looked fire with the current outfit of his actual model. We were robbed, Kenji was robbed

It’s problems like this that make me want to start my own business for V-Tubing so that any POC V-tuber can be properly represented, get assists for their model and get protection from full on racists. Unfortunately I’m still a bit young to do that, but if someone wants to maybe try this idea, I WILL HELP YOU PLEASE😭😭😭
i,m willing
It’s been 4 months now. How’s the idea been going? I really wanna see it.
@@theillustriouscosmowitch617 Honestly I had forgotten about this, but now that you've reminded me, perhaps I can actually start working on it. The only problem I have working on this currently is that I don't have any way to make the assests digital. I'll probably post concept art on my instagram, and whoever wants to make them digital is more than welcome to use them!
I'm also too young but I would LOVE to create an art company that puts effort into uplifting POC
I would love to help too!
I'm glad I saw this cause once I'll have my degree, I was hoping to debut as a black Italian/Eng Vtuber with my own character but I was hella scared to get started even through an agency (afraid of getting rejected for being what I am), so I though "let's go indie" but was still afraid. Now I have more courage to get started, just need to finish off my oc and try to rig it
That sounds sick!
If ur referring to a college degree, good luck to you❤. I’m in college too but only a rising junior.
Also Indie might be the best option, as you can be more open/real with your audience and have more say in what u want to do (but that’s only mi opinión). Good luck with your model as well
Same for me! (I live in italy too) I feel like I am looking at my reflection! I am done with my model tho, I started rigging 3 days ago and I finished the head part already (I am still afraid of debuting tho)

this is baiting. you really think that's where artists draw the line? they're just making it about victim mentality again.
They're afraid of making a darkskinned model that gets ragged on. Imagine being Tsukumo Sana's artist and hearing nonstop hate about your work mostly because of her skin tone.
YOUR OG CONCEPT FOR KENJI IS FRICKIN GOOD- I swear poc people have it rough because the other day I was scrolling through twt and my friend DEADASS SAID AN ARTIST CHARGED HER EXTRA BECAUSE HER SKIN COLOR!!!!!!
Thank you showing this part too.
i’m an artist and i was learning how to do live 2d because i wanted to make a black magical girl vtuber for streaming. there’s soooo many tutorials about rigging straight or wavy hair but nothing for curlier hair. i have no idea what to look out for, how to cut the model’s hair to use in live 2d, nothing. the hair i made was just one big blob. the lack of tutorials like that makes it that much harder to step into vtubing as a black person because there isn’t any information that’s being shared to riggers, so even if i want to id have to figure it out myself and i simply don’t have the time to do so
I hope that you're able to find it.
kenji's videos always put me in a better mood because his sense of humor is too good
I don’t think I’ll ever stop rewatching that videos.
I can't handle the comedic brilliance of your fucked up model, every frame is solid gold

It would be nice to see more POC models out there without the harassment. It would also be HELLA lovely to see more male vtubers. Which is what I'm working on currently. Also one major thing about enjoying the vtuber is to relate with them, and if more black fans could find a oshi like them in the aspect of Race, ethnicy or culture

I don't know if self promo is inappropriate but I think I can draw curly hair pretty well my brother 🤝👀

I wish I could make you a Black model, Kenji!
