LONGMILL CNC ROUTER WEBSITE:

Do not take the video down. I think the gist of it was right. In this video you have clarified any misconceptions and have done it in a respectful way. I thank you for your help and advice and am glad you are here to share it. Bless you
MrLeKev, thanks for the support brother I appreciate the kind words!
No,don't take the video down, you were trying to save us a lot of frustration, 99% of us know after watching all your videos that you are very passionate about helping the cnc community, thanks for all the help you have given us.
tarheel43, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Hey Garrett - I absolutely loved your first video on this. Please leave it up as is. I felt you were conveying good information derived from your experience. There will always be a few one-offs out there, and adding them to the original video would both muddy the message and run the risk of being too long. Thanks for being honest and courageous. It is a testament to you that you actually read and responded to the comments. You’ll never please everyone, but the majority of us appreciate your passion. Bravo Zulu.
mikehale81, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No, Absolutely do not take the video down! I for one have come to value your opinion on cnc machines. While I don't yet own any of the quality machines that you mention, one of the qualifiers when I bought my cnc was I didn't want belt drive. While I appreciate that you aren't looking to offend anyone while making these videos, you will NEVER please EVERONE 100% of the time. Just give us your educated opinion in the professional and respectful way that you have been, and disregard the haters. Thanks Garret, and keep up the good work! We appreciate your passion.
ricochet981, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
You should never apologize for your opinion. You have the right to your opinion. Because of your experience, you have the knowledge to understand the ends and out on different equipment. DO NOT PULL THIS VIDEO.
ronnorris1504, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
DO NOT PULL THE VIDEO! Never back down on giving your educated and informed opinion! You have helped so many people, myself included, make a informed decision when purchasing their cnc. You rock Garrett!
Unfortunately, it was neither educated or informed. It was just plain incorrect. He can think what he wants about anything but the bottom line is that it is his loss. After his video, I would never buy a cnc bit from him.
Steve, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No. Do not take video down. Your opinion to help others. I appreciate your help and love all the videos.
chassdad, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I liked the video. There are people who buy the small routers to start out and then stop using them. Others wind up getting a bigger one. You’re the best in the business as far as I’m concerned.
TheKirk48, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Hey, Garret, a heads up. Creativity and making are, life changing factors for so many. Thank you for being a “go-to” voice in explaining not just how….but why, things machine like they do. Feeds and speeds, depth of cuts, all important….why the devices and materials work as they do? There’s the magic that sticks, from project to project. Thank you!
I am fortunate to have found your RUclips channel & the IDC woodcraft online store. Thank you for helping a guy like me survive dark times too. Your transparency in this video hits home more than you can know. Thank you for talking about a hard time. I’m so happy that we are both here to share the good things.
Paul, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Hell yeah!!!! Leave the video UP!!
It was an EXCELLENT video for people shopping around for a good, solid machine with good customer service. ❤️👏👏👏👏
Were I to be shopping for a “good, solid machine with good customer service” I would hesitate to accept a one-sided view exposing why I should NOT buy a certain product. Preferably with balanced commentary citing manufacturers who do produce machine consistent with the qualities being discussed. I am not suggesting a run-on ad for any particular manufacturer, yet while the Longmill appears to be a fine machine, which clearly fits Garrett’s requirements and budget, I would never purchase one. Not because it’s not all that Garrett expresses, it simply does not suit my needs.
Joe, thanks for the kind words and support my friend!
You were just being honest. And truthful from your perspective…and what you have learned
ateddy7901, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I think you were on point, especially if you want to be slightly more serious within the CNC hobby world. I bought a FoxAlien 4040 and I was instantly disappointed with its limitations. It’s why I went and bought a Onefinity Elite Foreman.
I bought the masuter pro knowing it's limited but still felt it was annoying and fiddly but thought I'd test the waters with it. They're cheap but you get what you pay for I guess. Now I'm contemplating between shapeoko and onefinity.
TerrapinCreations666, thanks for the support my friend and I appreciate you sharing your perspective with your machine! Happy cncing!
@@bunajim413That was basically me with the FoxAlien. I’m still glad I bought it as it helped me feel confident that I wanted a bigger CNC. I don’t think I would have dove into the $5k Elite Foreman if I didn’t try the FoxAlien first.
At 11 minutes into this video, I saw your soul!
I love you brother!
davidhittenberger1651, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Garrett, I have owned an X-Carve for 15 years and have to say, although it did STING a little, your comment’s in the original video were true.
What I wish you would have mentioned in describing the third group of “machines to avoid” was the good things. Like some of them, i.e. the shopoko/Xcarve, require you to assemble them from scratch. Making you familiar with the machine and all of its components.
Inventables(xcarve) and shopoko have excellent customer service and awesome online forums. If you ask a question, you’ll get immediate answers.
I, like you, have a love affair with my CNC. I’m a disabled Veteran who loss the ability to use tools with my hands or even walk around my shop. The CNC did give me back a sense of self reliance by allowing me to design something in my mind and watch it come to life.
I would love to take the next step to a bigger, better, more rigid machine like the Long Mill but that is not in the stars for me until my “rich uncle gets out of the poor house” (stealing a line from my grandfather).
I write all this saying…. Garrett, whether to take the video down or edit it by adding things like “rigidity”to the reasons to “maybe” avoid the third type of machines is totally your decision. My opinion, if I left it up, I’d edit it to include other things in the third category like rigidity. Yes, belt tensioning is a thing. But at this hobby level machine, nothing that can’t be accomplished with a digital fish scale.
GOD BLESS, And keep up the good work Garrett.
chantelcampbell6274, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Long time ago when I bought my Longmill CNC MK1, I reach out for questions. You answered them and gave me solution. I have been watching and just want to say you inspired me to continue. My local community thanks you for designs that I could not believe I could make. Appreciate.
terryswenning9510, keep working hard and learning everything you can my friend. I am excited to see where your CNC journey takes you brother!
Here I am watching this video and eating the M&M's that you included with the bit I received from you a few days ago. Your customer service is one of the best around. Love your videos also.
706Dano, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Both are excellent videos. I would suggest that you leave the first video up and add a link to this video. It helps to illustrate that there are no simple, absolute, statements that can fully cover the subject. I have some, limited, experience with GRBL and controller based belt and lead screw driven machines and also a much heavier Mach 3 based ball screw driven machine. All have their advantages and limitations. Belt driven systems are subject to the spring, stretch, and tension of the belt. Screw driven systems are subject to drive system lag or play and are also susceptible to resonances that can limit feed speeds and cause additional issues. (I haven't tried rack and pinion style drives yet but hope to eventually.😉 ) The key is to find a machine that suits your sweet spot in terms of budget and ambition but not expect your initial choices to be perfect. Learning and skill growth is not just the process. It is typically the purpose. Thanks again for another excellent set of videos.
CanadianQuietGuy, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
John Wayne said never apologize it’s a sign of weakness I watch all your videos. I appreciate all your insight you’ve helped me a lot and if people can’t handle the truth that’s their problem.
dannynickels1705, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Spot on message! I’ve been dealing with my own issues, Glad you’re still with us!
dluxbbq, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I get where you are coming from and understand what you were getting at in your last video. I run a roughly 6 year old Shapeoko 3 XXL machine (belt driven except for the upgraded Z-Plus Z axis) and if you use the machine within it's limits and hasn't missed a beat since I bought it. Carbide customer support has been exceptional for me even after hours they have gotten back to me through other forums. Information/discussion is a good thing and sometimes there just needs to be a little more of it in some instances. Thank you for sharing with us. We are all learning, growing and understanding from different levels. I enjoy your channel. :)
Lance, thanks for sharing your perspective with your machine and I'm glad the support you've gotten has been excellent so far! That's what we all like to hear! I'm glad to be a part of your cnc journey and I'm looking forward to seeing what you create brother!
No, don't take it down. You shouldn't apologize for your opinion. Not having any CNC experience and currently researching what it out there, your video made sense to me.
RonJackson-rc2py , thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Having an honest opinion about CNC machines, the video should stand and stay up 🤠 plus I have to agree 100% with your choices.
SirTools, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
It is rare to find a person share at such a personal and genuine level. I have not seen the video in question but I have watched many of your videos and as someone who is also retired and at times struggles with the “what now?” question, I can completely relate to the quest for meaning and purpose that led you to create IDC and the mission you are on. Thank you for your passion and sharing your knowledge and your perspective. Your videos have helped in my own decision process and I continue to turn to them for cnc guidance and occasionally have found them to be a source of encouragement for the larger journey of life. Thank you for all you do.
davidsorensen5166, thank you so much for the heartfelt words my friend. It is truly appreciated. Keep working hard and learning everything you can brother!
I have learned a great deal from watching this channel before I got in to the cnc hobby and I can honestly say Garrett has put me on the right path to cnc. Any it’s a fun hobby I really enjoy. Thanks Garrett
Kevin, thank you for the kind words brother. I'm humbled and glad to be a part of your cnc journey!
Never apologize for your opinion. I thought it was spot on. If someone was offended thats their problem. This world is so full of people who are offended at the littlest things.
Jim, thank you for the support my friend! Happy cncing!
I thought it was a great opinion and needed no apologies. The deficiencies you outlined in your videos were all correct. Your website, videos and overall program seems suited more for the higher end hobbyist and serious CNC woodworker. I’m happy that I saved my money and purchased a quality machine (ball screws, linear guides, 2hp spindle & 4 ft. x-axis). The results speak for themselves. I’m creating better products in shorter time with minimal wear on my equipment and tooling. I watched videos featuring Bob’s CNC (et al) all the while scratching my head. IMO, the first and foremost feature has to be Rigidity and those 3 types you mentioned lack rigidity in spades!!
Brent, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I watched the video and think you should leave it up. The machines you covered are often starting points for beginners and is a part of the learning process. Thank you for your contribution to the CNC community!
Mike, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I watched that video soon after it was released. You've been teaching us so much over the years and have provided opinion pieces as well. You're entitled to your opinion and your opinions are based on facts and experiences.
Do NOT pull the video.
And, my CNC brother - you've shared personal snippets over the years but not to the point as you did tonight. Thanks for sharing again tonight. I'm super proud and happy to have been able to be part of your growing enterprise... and part of your CNC circle for over two and a half years. Keep up the great work. I'll keep watching here and being a customer. 👊 🤗
LYTOMIZE_Woodshop, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I still agree that you get what you pay for. Belt drive has less stability then a good lead screw system. And ball screw even better. And allot less frustration to a new user
Windycitysmokers, thanks for the support my friend!
🌵😔👍🌵
William, thanks brother!
I have never met a more sincere RUclips author than you. Thank GOD you didn’t pull that trigger my friend, as I have been there myself. Do not apologize for your beliefs or your willingness to help those of us who are trying to find our paths. We appreciate your guidance and your assistance. GOD bless you and thank you.
stevetuttle2527, Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad my videos could offer some guidance and support to you. Wishing you all the best on your woodworking journey.
Keep the video up Garrett! I learned a bunch from it.
And thank you for sharing.. REALLY glad you found your way out of depression!!
mikejan6597, thank you my friend. Im so happy you liked this video.
Thank you for sharing your story. Leave it up! Seems the video was made for those people who are looking for advice on purchasing their first machine. I appreciated it.
tamara, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
In all honesty, I wish I had more information before I purchased a Bob's CNC. It's been a great learning experience and understanding of how CNC machines work. But I wish the video you put out would have been around 2 years ago. Leave it up. Thank you so much for all the information and teachings you put out for those who have chosen this journey too.
andrewsutter1734, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Garrett, very good video. You opening yourself to the reasons for your passion on CNC world make me very glad that we are friends.
Keep the video up! It gives more perspective for new and more mature CNC owners to think about,
I for one am very glad you had second thoughts back in 2018.
Take care my friend.
JS111952, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Leave it up .. when we were searching for our CNC machine I was looking for some starting information. You provided exactly that. You gave your viewers a great start point.
Very respectfully opinion with great facts to back it up.
SteveWellers, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
You are spot on with your analysis of the machines. Its the old 80-20 rule 80 % like it 20% don't it. I have watched so many of your video and they have been very help full and I purchased a mk2 because of what learned from your videos after comparing each brand. Don't take the video down . Keep making videos !!!
donclemins3936, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Thank you from someone who is saving up for a machine I appreciate an honest opinion from someone who has experience with different machines and isn't being paid by a company or only has experience with one machine a video like this could save me a ton of time and money in the long run PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS VIDEO RUclips NEEDS MORE LIKE IT.
gregwhitmore4223, glad you liked this one my friend! You bring up a lot of good points.
I appreciate your story. Making yourself vulnerable will hopefully see the benefit of overcoming. On the topic of support, your point is taken and well taken. I hardly think an apology was necessary, leave the video up. You point out the plus and minus of a belt driven system and I respect that. Newbies need direction. Your channel is perfect for that. I have no expectation that you are perfect. You lived out your support message to me when I sent you a message and you gave me guidance. You have my respect. Keep up the good work!
Martin, thanks for the support and kind words my friend!
Do not pull the video! You are awesome my friend, we need people like you to teach all your knowledge! Let's rock and roll buddy!!
jorgemacal, right on brother! Glad you liked that video.
Garrett, leave it up. You were sharing your opinion based upon your vast, indepth experience. Some will accept your advice and some will not, that's just the way it is. I certainly appreciate your efforts, opinions and comments. JD.
johndalinis1527, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I forgot to add: thanks for your honesty and integrity. May God bless you and those you help.

Thanks Garrett, I enjoy your videos. I have been watching for some time. I watch reviews on all CNC's trying to decide what I will buy when I get enough money. I to am retired and looking to do some woodworking for that sense of accomplishment and worth. I hope to get a CNC in the near future. Thanks again for all your help.
tecnoid1955, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Sir you are 100% correct, when I am in my shop building projects all my darkness goes away. Woodworking is so therapeutic and a fantastic escape from my troubles I may be going through... Thank you for being such a kind soul !
robertkrueger3902, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No Do Not Pull the Video Down. Possibly create a link (if not already done) connecting the first video to the second video. Leaving the video up is the right thing to help prevent someone from buying a bucket of headache, either brand new or pre-owned. The first video also prompts the newbie to ask more questions before purchasing a machine. I value your opinion and expertise. Thank you for all that you willingly share.
keithmarquart3568, very good points my friend and thanks for reaching out about this!
Keep it up it’s great info for us new users and you don’t need to apologize
barryjefferies3736, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No,You are offering your experience and your opinion. Your viewers will be more successful in their cnc journey if they follow your recommendations. Don't take the video down. I appreciate your honest recommendation and experience. Thank you Garrett. Keep up the great content.
carfi9876, thank you for the kind words and support brother! I appreciate you sharing your perspective. Happy cncing!
I love your videos and I love your story. I don’t think there is anything wrong with your first video and it’s a great piece of bite sized content helping people understand high level context. I’ve built belt machines before and I think you give solid advice for novices to generally avoid that type of machine.
Keep doing what you’re doing!
StevenLewandowski, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No, don't take the video down. Your story is very moving and I am sure there are many who can sympathize with you. Thank you for sharing.

He'll no.. Don't pull it down. I appreciate the information you put out. I'm working towards getting a cnc machine and I go to your channel more than most because you are really informative. Thanks and keep up the great videos.
larrysbmc, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Keep it up. You do a great service to all of us with your opinions and experience with CNCs. You provide a great service to all of us. keep it up.
davidw1324, thanks brother. I appreciate it.
Keep the video up Garrett, I've been dealing with the same issues since I retired too. Thanks for sharing!
StephenMaffeo, thanks brother! I appreciate it.
Don't take it down brother. You share your life with us and I was in your shoes too. I consider you my mentor as I have gotten better at CNC work. I want to get the Longmill eventually I believe it's going to take my work to the next level. Thank you Garrett for all you do.
jessietapia4, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I have been there. Its a terrible head space to be in. Like you, having purpose pulled me out of that and I've been very happy lately. Keep helping people like you're doing. It's greatly appreciated.
As far as the video, leave it up and link this video in that description. Also, genmitsu has provided great support to me so far. I really like the pro4040 and have upgraded to a trim router, which made the machine much more usable. It feels well built and they stand behind their product, at least in my experience.
smokeebeefpv, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
No reason to pull the video down, people looking to get into cnc need that guidance and your video is one resource they can use. I listened to a lot of other peoples advice when I was getting into it, and I took something from all of them. I have an Avid CNC Pro 24x48 and I love it. It does have very short belts that drive the rack and pinion and I have no problems. Their customer support has been great when I needed it. All in all, more input is better than none, and you have lived and learned and you're passing that on to others. BRAVO!
scottmorrison1533, thanks brother! Glad you liked the video. Congrats on your AVID.
I would have never seen this video without the first video, and this video took a turn I didn't see coming. The first came as a suggestion because I've been heavily researching the Shapeoko 5 Pro to add to my (currently unrelated to woodworking) new business. I didn't see it as a slight that the belt drive Shapeoko machines weren't mentioned, it was more an affirmation that my own "overkill is the right amount" mentality of picking a machine meant I was landing on a good product.
It's obvious you have a passion for CNC routers and helping others, and I'll be an IDC customer soon.
HarryLeach, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Oh, my brother, you have shared some really good info in your many videos. When I watched the video about the three types of machines you shouldn't buy I thought about my Shapeoko and just thought that the video did not apply to me. I still found some good info in that video though!
jeffteeter501, glad you liked that video brother and congrats on your Shapeoko. If your machine suits you and your needs, then by all means keep cutting my friend!
Leave it up. Your content is one of the main reasons I am getting into this business.
nbtyad1, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Garrett, keep that video up! I and so many other appreciate your time and expertise. Your video is NOT too harsh, people need to put on their big boy pants! Much love! Frank
frankamadio1899, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Great videos and you are
100% right. Having PTSD myself the CNC world helps me like no one business and I have needed the support from the cheap Machines and could not get it. So frustrating and I almost quit but I got inspired by many videos like yours and continued. Bought a way better machine and I look forward to many projects Thank you and don’t stop helping us
Michael, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
I understand what you are trying to say. I was one of those that commented that you can't write off machines with broad sweeping statements. In this video you say desktop machines are hobby machines. There are loads of high end professional desktop machines. I'm the Product Manager at a popular high end CAM software company that specialises in wood and composites. I see all sizes of machines being used with our software. The product you produce should dictate the machine you get. If you are producing small things you don't need a big machine.
Justin-td4bb, thank you for sharing your perspective on this one. You make a lot of good points when you bring up the point regarding finding the right machine for the job. Thanks again my friend.
Keep the video up. It made me think carefully about what makes one machine design good and another machine design great.

Thank you for your dedication in guiding us in the cnc world. You did the right thing telling the truth about those 3 cnc types of machines!

Leave it up. I think it is a great source of information for the guy just thinking of getting into cnc work. I bought a 3018 desk top machine, and as limiting as it is, it gave me a pretty decent base for the direction I want to go. Any experience is useful experience.
Patrick, thanks for the kind words and support brother! I completely understand your perspective of getting started and it can absolutely be valuable to gain experience. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
A very moving story and it takes courage to tell one like that. I am just starting to look at CNC having a couple of 3D printers, laser engraver and enough power tools to stock a hardware store but when I started out at school it was woodwork that I enjoyed the most. I still have pieces I made 55 years ago and they are solid, true and useful to this day. You can't say that for anything made of plastic. Metalwork as well lit my fires then but the materials are harder to work with and more expensive, it's a cold and loveless material. Wood is organic and lives. I am now retired having spent my career in a soulless IT role with nothing to show for it and a bout of severe depression means I don't want to remember that time. Now I want to get my hobbies going again and woodworking and tech both marries my knowledge and passions to reveal a buried creative side and the firers are again burning. I need all the information about these new woodworking marvels I can get so, please do not take the previous video down... I was in the process of making a purchasing decision that could have had devastating consequences and thanks to you I can feel more confident now that I will make the right decision of CNC for my needs. This video clarifying your comments was equally valuable. I have subscribed and will watch all your videos. Keep up the amazing work and thanks.
grumblewoof4721, thanks for sharing your perspective brother! It sounds like you have found the right path for you coming from IT. I am excited to see where your CNC journey takes you and to see what you create!
Keep the video Garrett as it will help someone who is planning to purchase a CNC for the first time. I lucked out as I purchased a LONGMILL the first time around and have been extremely satisfied with it. I really appreciate your history as laid out in this video. It helps to explain your passion for educating us both regarding CNC equipment and procedures. I followed many of your training videos when I began with my CNC. Thank you!
It’s an honest review based on experience. Videos like this are why I spent a little more on the front end and got a Onfinity. I appreciate your honesty.

Leave it up sir! People need to take the good with the bad. You ROCK Garrett! Oh and also, I have been in the same place you were after you retired. So I do know that feeling. Keep making videos so I can follow your leads. I have learned so much from you. Your a valuable asset to the community.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. This is powerful on many levels. In addition to the value it brings to making an informed decision when exploring CNC options, this is a true lesson on life. I am a military mom and sitting in your daughter’s shoes, I am happy you made the decision you did. Please don’t ever doubt the value you bring to this world. More people like you is what the world needs. And of course thank you for the info. I am trying to decide which is the best one for me. I am a complete newbie and want to make some simple toys for my grandkids and any other kiddos that could benefit. USA based Customer service will be critical in my ultimate decision.

Dude: I've said this before in response to your videos: You are an excellent person. Your willingness to share, to be honest, and reach out? Makes you a total treasure and we're supremely lucky to have you! Just keep doing what you do. I just got The Badger and a couple of other SWEET bits from IDC the other day. Can't wait to use them. You have never steered me wrong, and your advice is extremely valuable and (more to the point) needed by people like me, just starting the journey, etc. So yeah, you say something you later regret, or wish you'd said differently. No big deal. You've reflected, modified your statement, clarified. End of story. I would vote no: Don't take down the video. What you did basically mirrors all the deliberation and thinking we all have to go through on this journey. Believe me, it's useful to see.

I am retiring at 65 this September. I cannot sit still. Also, my son has migraines, so full time work is difficult for him. He needs a home based job that he can work when he can. He has his degree in computer animation. He can create amazing 3D images. He can also make them come to life, but that is a different subjsct. You know where I am going with this. We are planning to start a small business making custom 3D wood carved products. I love woodworking. He loves creating. So we will be watching all your videos and planning for the next six months. Love what you're doing and never work a day. Thanks, Mark

Your video was spot on. When making the decision about what machine to buy, the video you produced is just another part of the decision process. I spent hours watching videos, reading reviews, comparing machines and came to the same decision as your recommendation. Avoid wood structure, belt drive and limited or small machines. I rejected the Longmill because it required a dedicated computer, otherwise I think it would have been my choice. I ultimately chose the Onefinity. I can design outside my shop and bring my file to the machine with a USB stick.

Don’t pull. I remember the load of research and vides I watched before buying my shapeoko, 4 years ago. It was in my budget and I don’t regret it. Learn a lot over the years. I am a creator and it was a great addition to my wood shop. It is important to have support from a company. When I had an initial issue when setting it up, shapeoko called me and helped me resolve it. You don’t forget that type of customer service. Just like I’m finding out from IDC and the 1st order of bits I’ve just received from you…it’s phenomenal that your company has put together an app that shows me feeds and speed by material type. Hats off to you brother! No other bit company puts in that effort! Who knows, I might add a longmill to my shop in the future. Thank you And keep creating.

NO!! Please don't take down the video. You make some very valid points about the different types of machines. Like many others here I have had different machines over the years and all have pros and cons. Garrett, like you I see the frustration that people have when they are just starting and agree that a quality CNC router will make the learning process much easier. It is heartbreaking when I see someone that has bought a CNC router that they can't get to work properly and they get NO company support. I won't talk badly about any company but there are machines that I feel become a money pit. Keep up the good work and we will be here to support you.

This HIT HOME HARD....AS A 5 X COMBAT VET... I'm always trying to finds ways to "cope" Garrett you hit the nail on the head!! Woodworking 'saved my life'.....mad respect sir!

I personally learned something from your video (on 3 CNC Routers Not to Buy), and it reinforced my own opinions about how to explore CNC the right way. So much so that I placed my order for a Onefinity Woodworker Pro this morning.

Thank you for this video.
It helps me in so many levels. Thank you very much!
mataniatsif, you are so welcome my friend.
I agree with everything you said including how CNC helps with PTSD. I dealt with it for several years and still do at times. NO, do not remove the video! Even though I have a Shapeoko machine, I learned something from the video! So I guess I took the good with the bad. Because of your videos and help, im pretty comfortable with the things I have made in only about six months of getting into it with little prior knowledge! Im thrilled I found you and thank you for all you do!
cherifowler137, thanks for sharing your perspective and insights on this one brother. Since there are so many comments, I can't respond individually to each, but I assure you I read and appreciate each and every one!
Don't apologize for your opinion. It's a great video. I'm sure that every machine will have something that will eventually break down; but I agree and you are spot on; support is everything. If something goes south you correct it and move on. It's going to happen. I have a Digital Wood Carver DWC2440, it is belt driven and have never had an issue in 5 years. I can't imagine anyone with better customer support. Keep up the videos
dennishiggins2233, thank you brother. Glad you liked this one.
Do not take it down. I enjoyed you video. I wished I had that video before I got my first one. I ended up getting the next Wave Shark SD 110 and it’s a “desktop “CNC. I had it for 1 year and realized it was way too small. So I got a second CNC “Onefinity Journeyman. I could have saved myself thousands. So keep doing these videos!!

Garrett, your honesty is why people love to watch your videos. For someone who has had to live with those questions about someone pulling the trigger, I'm glad you didn't, I wished my father wouldn't have either.
As to support for machines that are out there, yep there are many who lack proper support or have none worthy of mentioning. But that's where you shine best my brother! You care, others care as well, and with the support platforms formed by you and others, people get their questions answered. Should it be this way, absolutely not, but sure does help you and others when you have the answers needed. That's what builds your base, business, & following. You're a leader in the industry.
Embrace the role, it's what you do best. My criticism on the last video was simply that you broadly mentioned specific machines based on your current skill level. I was just pointing out not everyone is at the same level of experience.

No do not take the video down! You were correct in that video. As for the last part of this video, I can totally relate to it!!
ozguzzi, thanks for the support brother! Happy cncing!
Please keep the video up. To many good people get bullied to remove their opinion or to walk it back but i have yet to watch a 1.5 hr video like you did on a company from Waterloo and go thru and explain in very good detail about engineering terms and how things are designed to make a good cnc machine for a certain price point category. Thank you.

Keep the video up. You mentioned in the other video that documentation and customer support is key. I have a Shapeoko 5 Pro and it doesn't have the belts but I considered one of the models with the belts. I would not have taken offense to your comments because you explained the "why" behind your reasoning. Keep up the great work sharing what you know. It is helping more people get into CNC routing than you are even aware.

First off, thank you for sharing such an intimate story! That alone will help many people.
But please leave the video up. Anyone looking to get into the CNC world like myself will get value from it even if certain points may be off. And with a little further searching will also find this video for clarification. And you just got a new Sub!
seancorcoran5172, thanks for sharing your perspective brother! I really do appreciate that and again thank you so much for sharing.
Hey Garret the other video had very valid points! It is perfectly okay to have a point of view and show the facts. I wish I would have known those facts prior to purchasing my first CNC. It would have saved me a ton of time and money. Just because people disagree doesn’t mean the facts are wrong. We need to get back to where it is okay we do not agree with everyone about everything! Thanks for all of you and your teams hard work!
kevinrich4637, thanks my friend. So glad to hear you enjoyed the other video.
Garrett, I want you to know that I run a belt driven machine, and it is my very first CNC, and if I had seen your video from the other day before I bought it, I wouldn’t have. I appreciate people like you giving their educated opinion about machines, software bits and companies because it may help other people to not be taken advantage of. Keep doing what you do brother, and I will be praying for you!
scottbarton9587, thanks brother! I appreciate your support.
I watched your video series before I bought my Onefinity. I was heading into a Longmill and feel it would do what I needed, if it wasn't for this Onefinity that came up with only 20 hours and a great package of bits, the stiffy, a well built table on locking wheels, already built and demoed for under half of its new price. 32x32 bed and a full accessory kit. That was my deciding factor. I knew enough to know it was a good choice because I found a dependable series of videos you and a couple other produced, that helped me be educated. I would leave both videos up. By referring the viewer to both videos they will have all the info they need. I still refer people to your series because they get more valuable info from your videos than I could possibly give them from my limited experience. Thanks for all your help and instruction. Will see you soon for bits as the need arises.
johnwells1724, congrats on your Onefinity brother! It sounds like you have the right machine for your needs!
Garrett. I sent you a long rambling email. You don’t know how much this video meant to me. Thank You for sharing and all that you do. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos.
JimmyKoKo, thanks brother! Keep working hard and learning everything you can.
Hey Garrett, keep the video up. If I’ve learned anything from your videos, is that nobody is perfect. We can have all the knowledge in the world, but can still make a mistake. The video was very informative, but I do agree that a bit more information should have been provided. Mistakes will always come, but it’s how we handle them that matters. You handled it perfectly!!

Do not take the video down. You have provided information on the various machines advantages and disadvantages. Also you have the shown that the information you are sharing comes from the heart. You did this video to make sure that you are aware that some people have ruffled feathers and you are not bashing one company or another. You are just trying to make sure that when someone goes to purchase a CNC router that they are making an informed decision on the investment that they are making. I’m standing beside you. You did right on both videos.

How IDC's Information and Tips Have Revitalized My Approach
Unveiling the Treasure Trove of Knowledge
In the whirlwind of information overload, finding reliable sources that offer valuable insights can be like stumbling upon a hidden gem. IDC's channel has proven to be just that for me - a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be explored. From cutting-edge tips to in-depth analyses, their content has been a game-changer for my understanding of various topics. Thank you, Joel

No! Please do not take this video down. It is very informative, and you explain why you came to the conclusion you did with each category. I wish I had come across this video when I was buying my machine, I wound up with a 4540 sized machine which will carve 430mm x 390mm. It will do some of what I envisioned. I have found myself outgrowing the machine quickly. I am now stuck until I can afford a new machine. Since this is a retirement investment it takes a bit to justify the added expense.
