I have noticed a growing tendency for Morrissey to link world events and politics to intimate personal interactions and relationships, and to show the interplay between them. This is quite unusual in pop music. From "I Will See You in Far Off Places" to "In Your Lap" (and the bulk of Low in High School, for that matter). This song is clearly about the fact that, regardless of the oh-so-important--often beneficial, often destructive--politics of the day, the more fundamental fact remains that young people will always fall in love and screw and keep this "whole darned human comedy [...] perpetuatin' itself, down through the generations, westward the wagons, across the sands of time."
Myk Clayton Good point. As one reviewer out it, Morrissey discusses politics, but ultimately all the songs are about his favourite topic... Himself. Lol but I think his mixing of politics and falling in love also gives voice to that contradiction in us that means while we are agonising about the plight of displaced Syrians or whatever, what really affects our well-being is our interpersonal relationships. And our immediate health and comfort.
Si Morrissey fuese Primer Ministro en el país que sea habríamos miles y miles de refugiados y haríamos un solo país por lo menos del tamaño de un continente sería genial y sin duda un sueño hecho realidad
The first time I heard this song I cried. It's a song with 100% truth. But then on the second listen it was less catchy though.. but now i literally sit and play it daily. It's awesome AF!
Hmm. This feels like a lot of his newer material, so close to saying something important then withholding it. He could talk about how the young would rather fall in love than be critical of that love, and tie it to certain political figures (Sanders) that pretty much upheaved the election and handed it to the President he's clearly singing about... In short, say something people don't want to hear but SHOULD hear.
M8 he's telling people to get over the election it and get back to their lives. The media, who're the target of this album, are fucking obsessed; they amp up the snowflakes and get them burning universities.
I love Morrissey. He's amazing and so very intelligent, beautiful and honest.
This is my favourite song from the album
Amazing message in this song.
Sry multiple messages

fecklessmovies VERY well said, buddy
My hero!
How can he keep making music that sounds like he did twenty-five years ago? Fucking extraordinary.
oh this one is beautiful, Sir..
If you want cool - this is the one - cool Morrissey Anthem, Bye for now love Alan 👨🏫️
If this was released earlier in his career it would have become one of his most popular singles
I hope Mozz keeps making music like like for as long as possible. Nailed it. 👌👌

First Moz law once he gets into office, everyone must wear at least one lovely flower on their person at all times otherwise 18 months hard labour.
Si Morrissey fuese Primer Ministro en el país que sea habríamos miles y miles de refugiados y haríamos un solo país por lo menos del tamaño de un continente sería genial y sin duda un sueño hecho realidad
Spend more on nuclear war if that's your delusion 🎵🎶
He should rerelease this
this is like a complete contradiction to "Miserable lie".
I like the lyrics, but this melody really doesn't match OR contrast well with the lyrical content.
Morrissey please stop.
I don't like this track at all but most of the rest of the album is really growing on me. His best in years perhaps.
Stop what? Being awesome?
Stop releasing terrible songs. This is just going through the motions. If you can't come up with anything better than this drivel, it's time to stop.
Ahhh, another president

Listening to this album for the first time today. This is the only clunker so far.

Are you serious? Why don't you just compose your own song and say what YOU want to say. Ridiculous...
Cringiest lyrics I've heard in forever!
This song would drive Trump nuts lol
